3 out of 5 eggsDecent for price

Pros: low price, small, easy to setup, good built-in web server

Cons: no wireless (but I prefer wired anyway), image quality average (I've never been happy with any IP cameras' quality), locks up after a few weeks (more below)

Other Thoughts: I installed this inside my parents' home pointing outside. I was able to access it fine remotely for about 2-3 weeks. Then I could no longer connect to the camera's web server (I could connect to another PC on the local network, indicating the camera locked up). After a power outage, I was able to reconnect to the camera. I'm not sure how long the camera will stay running. I have the latest firmware installed too.

4 out of 5 eggsSurprising

Pros: Great quality picture for the price

Cons: Very annoying to set up but simple. You have ti change your subnet to what ever you network is because it is by default.

Other Thoughts: Quality is as good as my linksys but for 1/4 the price. I did not use the online feature though

2 out of 5 eggsNice camera/ Bad software,support

Pros: Camera works great, easy to setup on IP, identifies itself easily on my network, and I can access anywhere with my wirless router.

Cons: software included is very limited and hard to setup, I never was able to get it to email me pictures. I tried emailing Rosewill but didnt recieve any response. the low resolution makes it hard for motion capture to see distant items, so make sure your setting up for a 10 foot range

Other Thoughts: I also ended up using the Blue iris software with it, which allowed me to email pics and many more options.

4 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for..

Pros: Easy to setup. Great picture during the day.

Cons: Worthless in the dark.

Other Thoughts: Not a high quality product. Of the 3 cameras I bought last week, 1 is already dead.

3 out of 5 eggsOK

Pros: The video is fantastic at this price range, better than my Linksys cameras that cost 5X more. Video quality may be a function of cable length, as mine are relatively short (less than 10 ft).

Cons: A heavier mount would have been nice so that it could free-stand. Existing mount is awkward. Unlike my Linksys cameras, I can only connect to it locally. I have tried everything be able to view the camera from work. No problem with my other cameras. It also does not work with my Linksys software and my Linksys cameras don't work with the Rosewill software, so I can't view the cameras together, even locally.

Other Thoughts: Not a bad camera for the price. But I wanted the ability to view all of my cameras from one screen from work and I have not come close to being able to accomplish that. This is not an issue for the Linksys cameras. I can view them from work on the same screen with no issues. So I will likely be buying something else.

5 out of 5 eggsworking camera

Pros: cheap price
works with Blue Iris

Cons: low light doesn't work well

Other Thoughts: I initially used the Rosewill software, but then I got it working with my existing Blue Iris software. In Blue Iris, I set the model as "RTSP H.264/MPEG4" (no Rosewill models listed), RTSP as 554 (default), and video path as /ipcam.sdp (default). The other settings were self explanatory.

I'm eventually going to put this outside under cover and see what happens.

5 out of 5 eggsgood stuff

Pros: bought two for my house and set to email me pictures when it detects motion - fantastic! very easy to setup, surprisingly clear resolution for the money.

Cons: Someone in the desgn studio at Rosewill forgot this: the AC adapter plugs in the back but bumps into the camera stand if using the stand as a desktop stand. So you have the have the camera on a slight angle. Not an issue if you're wall mounting, but weird if trying to set them on a table. Oh, and I can't seem to stream the video when viewing outside the firewall. I can get to the login page, sign in, then I see blank box where the video should be. Not a big deal as I have remote access to my pc, then view my video in real time from there. Manual says these work with iPhone, but I haven't been able to.

Other Thoughts: not bad for the money. I'd buy more.

4 out of 5 eggsVery good for the price.

Pros: Cheap
Decent picture
RTSP support
Did I mention cheap?

Cons: Picture Quality could be better
Very dark in low lighting
No sound (not a big deal)
Narrow field of view.

Other Thoughts: I bought four of these and my dad bought 8. So far these have been great little cameras. I mainly got it for a bit of home security. I wanted to find something that was cheap and generic so I could setup my own recording. Before buying these I read the manual and saw that they supported RTSP.

RTSP is a generic protocol (it uses the mpeg4, so all those mpeg4 settings are for rtsp) for streaming video. I have a colo'd server with over 10 TB of storage and I wanted something I could stream directly to the server (live, no delay).

For what I wanted these things have been working great. It was very easy for me to script out mencoder to stream these to my colo'd server so I can check up on my place while I am on vacation. I plan on keeping 2 weeks worth of recordings before pruning.

I will need to setup some lighting and sure the quality isn't great but I really can't complain for only $30 per camera. Both my house and my dad's are wired up for Ethernet so that made the choice easy.

4 out of 5 eggsGood value IP Camera

Pros: Works as advertised. Image quality is acceptable in most lighting situations and can be adjusted in web interface. Motion detection works well and doesn't produce wasted snapshots of non-movement (eg: before and after movement). E-mail and FTP uploads function without issue. Build quality, fit and finish of both the camera and mount above average for price. Can be viewed and configured in nearly any browser using any operating system. $30 with free shipping at time of purchase. Newegg's fast shipping.

Cons: Fixed focus lens, mine could use some tweaking but it's not a deal breaker. The supplied viewing software seems to be more of a gift than anything really useful. E-mail feature limited and won't function with GMail accounts if that's important to you.

Other Thoughts: At $30 with free shipping this IP camera is a great value, spending more due to brand loyalty on a camera with the same or similar features seems wasteful. I've yet to buy a dud Rosewill product.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent for the money, but a bit underwhelming

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: Image quality isn't very good, especially at night
Software is a bit clunky
Setup is a little cumbersome(I imagine non-techies would struggle)
Recording seems to be limited to about 2 hours(I'd like to record all day)

Other Thoughts: Not bad for the money, but I think most people building a surveillance system would be better off with one of the $200-300 4 cameras + DVR with RJ45 kits they sell on Newegg.
