Ideal Camera to subject distance is ?

I don't know what will be idea. But I pretty much have small store serving area around 300~500 Square foot with 4 cameras cross covering. It is definitely very clear and effective. There is also an infrared night vision that comes with my purchase so it is amazingly clear even when the light is off. I hope my answer helps your question.

can we get a bigger drive for this system?

You can swap out the internal hard drive as it is just a regular 3.5 internal desktop hard drive. There is also other systems the same that do not come with a hard drive. You do not need a massive size hard drive as the system will overwrite the oldest recorded file unless you tell it to do otherwise. If there is any footage that you wish to not have deleted eventually you can back it up or save it.

Can you use Cat 5 cable to connect the camera to the DVR instead of the cable that comes with the system?

The connectors on the unit are not Cat5 connectors. There are connectors for the signa and for power for the camera.

Can it handle dual voltage, ie 220V and 110V?

I don't believe so because it is designed for 110v, but there are after market converters available to provide this feature.

It would probably be best to consult with support at the manufacturers website.

im looking for a camera so that if im at work i can pull up my phone and check my cameras from home like getting a babysitter and wanna keep an eye on things?

tis arrent megapixel an that things, this cameras work like old tvs befor HDMI and al that new things.

if we try to make a traduction this cameras are like 0.45 MP maximun.

this is normal in security sistems because.
mo video cuality more space needed to save the seim amount of time.

do the cameras operate on batteries?

Hello,
No, the cameras are wired. I am not sure if NightOwl sells an adapter for batteries. There are two adapters at the end of about 6inchs of cable, one for power, one for the video. They come with a 60 foot cable that will run to your DVR box. The system works well. I am currently working on getting them online, the DVR is working, but my cable modem (time warner) is the issue, and I will have to contac their technical support to address this further. I did call NIghtOwl initially, and they were very helpful. The camera video quality is excellent, and the motion activation is great.
I went through the trouble of mounting my cameras, and running the cables through the ceiling/walls, and while it was a project, the result is well worth it. My DVR box is discreetly located, so that a would be thief will not notice it unless they already know where it is located, and the cables will not show you unless you get into my crawl space.
