2 out of 5 eggsIt worked but I will replace with another brand

Pros: It's compact

Cons: Built quality, noise.

Other Thoughts: I've owned this unit for over a year. Largely used to charge our kids Samsung Galaxies on the road when traveling in the car. I have three power inverters: one Peak, one Cobra and this Rosewill. The Rosewill was the newest addition but it was the loudest of all three when running(had a constant 'whistle' when running) and died first. I've owned the Peak and Cobra units for 1 1/2 and 2 years respectively without a single problem and they are quiet. This Rosewill did the job considering what I paid for it on a sale ($20) but I'll be looking at other brands now when I replace it.

5 out of 5 eggslarge and in charge

Pros: compact design, solid construction, and able to handle slightly over 440 watts continuously.

Cons: Failed at 520 watts after an hour of continuous load. Replaced fuse and continued working fine, under less load.

Other Thoughts: All converter cables and extra fuse included!

4 out of 5 eggsWorks, though a little expensive

Pros: Works. No problems with it after three years.

Cons: A little expensive for what it does.

Other Thoughts: I bought this accidentally thinking it was a power inverter for the cigarette lighter in my car. Luckily, turns out I could use it for other things. Of course, this is my problem, not Rosewill's!

5 out of 5 eggsfantastic

Pros: double tier circuit protection (fused 12V plug and fuse in unit for high current applications)
aluminum shell: rugged and allows for heat dissipation
alligator leads included
power switch on front
ring terminal input

Cons: 12V plug is a little wimpy and obviously doesn't allow for full utilization of the unit

polarity/ over-voltage protection status is unknown, so ALWAYS check to make sure you have red to red and black to black on a 12V system only.

Other Thoughts: Bought two of these to replace two damaged ones in family vehicles. seeing as one of the units these replaced got crushed by a power seat, the aluminum chassis was a bonus. I recommend using a connection more stable than the cigarette lighter

the alarm triggers at about 9V, so if your car battery is old, the alarm may just tell you that its too late and you need some jumper cables

please note that most power inverters advertise peak power rating, which is twice the continuous power rating. here, 400W means you get to use all 400W all the time.

the ring terminals on the back also allow for easy connection to any existing 12V power system

2 out of 5 eggsWorked for a year

Pros: It worked for about a year.

Cons: Only used it a few times during the first year of ownership. It died right about at the one year mark which meant it was out of warranty.

Other Thoughts: While it was very useful for the time that it worked, it was only used a few times, which tells me that the quality of these are not good enough for me to buy again.

1 out of 5 eggsgarbage, dont buy

Pros: It worked out of the box

Cons: It failed the first time I used it camping. The device component specs are too low to let this ting last. If you use it to run a small radio, you will be fine. But use it to charge a phone or run it anywhere near 400w and it will be a paperweight in minutes. Rosewill would not stand behind this product because the warranty was 2 days expired....even though it was only used once.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: Fast Shipping (as always)!

Cons: Gave short warning with everything plugged into this except cell phone charger or e-cig charger. Finally had enough and tossed in the trash.

Other Thoughts: While I'd owned this for more than a year, this product never worked right. Just never got around to throwing it away. Kept 'hoping' whatever the issue was would magically fix itself (as sometimes happens). Not this time.

1 out of 5 eggsBarely used but already broken

Pros: 400 watts, nice compact design.

Cons: I am sure I didn't use it for more than 20x because I have 2 power inverter. Finally gave my other one away and begin to use this RCI-400ms. I suddenly gave me a fault error. I only used it to charge my phone in the car. I will now look for another brand.

4 out of 5 eggsOne failed after a while

Pros: Cheap, does the job

Cons: I bought 2 units and after a few months one of the units blew a fuse in the car and gave the short circuit warning

I dissembled and found a melted solder joint on on of the transformer legs, I resolderd but still get the short warning

didnt have time so i never got around to trying to get an RMA

my other unit still works well

Other Thoughts: they are modified sine (like most on the market) so they tend to mess up sensitive electronics but i guess that should be common knowledge cant really take an egg off for that pure sine inverters will never be $20
