Pros: Yamaha eventually replaced my defective unit after weeks of explaining to them and the actual 3rd party repair guy. Apperently they couldn't reproduce the issue. An awfull experience, that they eventually made right.

Cons: My original unit had unwanted noise from a rear channel

Pros: hooked my mesia pc up to this bad boy... not one issue. upgraded from my onkyo 7.1. just when i think im done upgrading my sound system.. they go and release a 3d codec... i decided to go all out and get this. setup is a breeze.. comes with mic to do an auto setup for surround which ive left it at other than crankin up the bass a tad. bannana ports! pleased with my purchase

Cons: i do wish the reciever was better to look at.. my onkyo had blue leds in the nobs as well as the front panel. looked nice with my setup... this reciever just looks like any ol reciever. would also be nice if there was a mute that lowered the music but didnt completly mute .. like my onkyo

Pros: Excellent receiver, the best video processor. Great pricing from Newegg.

Cons: Failed in 8 months. Left Front speaker drops off intermittently due to problem in relay. Called Yamaha, they said I have to take it for repair myself to a service center 60 miles away. The service center is only open M-F 9 to 5. It will cost me > 100 dollars to fix it and also waste my time. "Three year warranty" is a false advertisement, since it is really useless!

Pros: I was happy for an hour or so...

Cons: The receiver I received is defective in that it has a high pitch tone coming from one of the channels.

Other Thoughts: I got hit with so many newegg deals at once I decided to remodel the theatre room. After 3 months time I open the box to find it isn't up to standards, I now have a brand new receiver I've been trying to repair or return with no luck. Yamaha says to take it to a repair shop, the only one in the area is on vacation. It surely isn't in my best interest to take it to joe shmoe who paid to be certified either

Pros: Great features and great price. Newegg is GREAT.

Cons: Often times when switching between video sources I will lose my screen. Just goes black and you have to turn the receiver off then back on. Also, sometimes audio sync is off. Voices don't move with mouths. This is my second top of the line Yamaha receiver and both have had issues. I even had the matching blu-ray players. I am absoutely done with Yamaha. Denon all the way...

Pros: I bought this receiver only a couple of weeks ago and already I am thrilled at the sound quality. Tons of inputs, flexible switching of signals to three additional zones, and don’t forget about the very cool mobile app to control the show from your phone or iPad. This amplifier handles audio and theater sound processing exactly right. The Yamaha was an upgrade from my previous amp - a Denon AVR-4306. The Denon always forced audio sources to play through the center channel when engaging surround modes. The Yamaha is smart enough to allow the front stereo speakers to handle the muscle of the music modes, adding just the right amount of room acoustics enhancement through the surround channels without the use of the center channel. To my ears, the difference is significant. I also love the theater modes for movies. The effect of these modes is to broaden the sound stage for movies, expanding the perceived size of your listening room and putting you in the grand theater environment.

Cons: I miss the muting mode of my old Denon which allowed an adjustable lowering of the volume, rather than a full mute. It sounds picky, but it was a cool feature. I am also a little baffled by the audio delay between the main and additional zones. This can create a bit of sonic confusion if you are playing the same audio in different zones in your house. I would like to see a firmware update to help with this issue. Another minor complaint is with the remote. Obviously, a system with so many bells and whistles would present a challenge for a remote control, but with the exception of changing the volume the device is almost unusable for a novice (my wife).

Other Thoughts: The on-screen interface is a breeze to learn. I was also quite pleased with the YPAO auto-calibration. It is far more pleasing to my taste than the Audessey calibration from my Denon – which I found to be almost worthless. Don't forget to add presence speakers to your setup to get the most out of this receiver.

Pros: Great replacement for my 2007/08 Denon 4308CI. This receiver has excellent features, natural sound, ample power, great up scaling chip-set and a clean and functional GUI.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Awesome receiver for the the Money. This receiver offers a lot of bang for the buck in a well made, robust chassis that should offer years of solid service. I have owned receivers from Onkyo, Denon, Sony and Pioneer Elite. I am satisfied with he Yamaha product, feature set and sound.

Pros: Highly capable unit. Network functions are fantastic, video switching and processing are great, audio quality outstanding. Lots of power. This year the unit went from 7 amps to 9, allowing you to power the 2nd and 3rd zone while still having rear channels in the main room, or a second zone plus a 7.1 system.
Very high build quality, attractive appearance.

Cons: Doesn't process any video from the streamed sources.
Interface for Internet Radio could be better, although it's improved from the RX-Ax000 model family.
Browser interface could be more robust. Would be great if it were more like Receiver Manager.

Other Thoughts: I sell these units and my customers are extremely happy with them. For the person looking for the elusive convergence of audio, video and streaming, this unit is a big step in the right direction. The more demanding of function coupled with quality audio processing a reproduction you are, the happier you'll be with this unit.
