Great price, Great sound!
- Pros: Quality as always from Pioneer. Sleek look, great sound with many adjustments for whatever you're watching.
- Cons: None.
- Other Thoughts: Great shipping from Newegg.
Optical input supports surround
- Pros: Great sound quality. Easy setup with color coded wires and simple instructions. "Auto-surround" feature (when turned on) automatically detects the audio source (stereo, dolby digital, etc) and sets it for you.
- Cons: Fewer inputs compared to most other receivers. Remote is small and has tiny buttons. But set to it "Auto-surround" and program one of your other remotes to control it, problem solved. The speaker wire supplied w/ the unit was too short for the rear surround speaker, despite being up in a small room.
- Other Thoughts: To Joecool (a few reviews down) regarding the optical input and his surround problem. I recommended this system to my Uncle and set it up for him using the optical input for surround. The surround sound worked well through the optical input from the best i could tell at the time. It's been a month since I set it up, so I wanted to be double sure. Therefore, I contacted Pioneer customer support and they verified today that the optical input does indeed support dolby surround sound.
Not half bad, great deal
- Pros: I would rate this sound system as a great buy. I put's out some pretty good sound, and with a bit of tweaking the bass is pretty good. It was fairly simple to set up too. Great price too.
- Cons: Can't think of any. May not be an audiophile's dream though.
- Other Thoughts: Good buy for a college student with a small room, like me.
