Great home theater starts with a great receiver. Onkyo's HT-R667 is the heart of the HT-S6100 system. This 7.1 channel receiver comes with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD decoding for audio that sounds like what the producers had in mind. The Audyssey DynamicEQ ensures that dialogue will always be clear by dynamically adjusting the EQ settings as the volume is changed.
Eliminate cable clutter from your life with the HDMI 1080p upconverting capabilities of the HT-R667 through its HDMI ports. The Faroudja DCDi/EDGE helps to eliminate jaggies and other video artifacts that can occur when upconverting a signal. Now your picture looks better than ever.
In order to give the system voice, Onkyo included a speaker set tuned to work with the receiver. The front and center speakers have 2x3.125" woofers and a 1" balanced dome tweeters while the surround speakers have 1x3.125" woofer and a 1" balanced dome tweeter. The 10", 290W downward firing subwoofer completes the set. All the connectors and included cables are color coded to get you listening faster.

Incredible HD sound!
- Pros: The HDMI's and Dolby HD is really incredible! This audio system leaves nothing out! Onkyo products continue to amaze me!

- Other Thoughts: This is really a top-notch audio system which will compliment your HDTV. Be sure to use only your HDMI so that you can get a fantastic picture as well as sound. The Audyssey 2EQ mic is great to setup your speakers and it did a great job balancing the surround sound. The Dolby HD is just awesome! This A/V system leaves nothing out and you will be absolutely pleased with this purchase. Nice job Onkyo and a big thanks to Newegg who never lets me down with their speedy service!
Sounds great!
- Pros: Sounds awesome! The down firing Base will rumble your house. The 667 is powerful enough to drive all the 7.1 speakers and the additional 2(b channel) I had sitting around in my room(cuts the back two out). It's loud really loud and it's very clear. I used the Audessy tuning mic and after that there was no looking back. Every movie, every song, every tv show I watched sounded great. The iPod dock is awesome, it's very convenient. You can have that play over another HDMI channel's audio(very cool!). The unit does get very hot and heats my room up when I'm watching movies. Thankfully it's right in front of a window, so that's not a problem. (I think my ps3, gets just about as hot when playing blu-rays...so it's not just the Onkyo heating my room). HDMI video and audio, connection is soo simple. I have a SPDIF coming in from my PC and it was simple to pair that up with the hdmi video I had coming in. NE had the system to me the day after I ordered it at no additional cost to me. :-)
- Cons: - The speaker wires are so small(they're a joke, literally onkyo wrote "HA HA HA, yea right" all over them) but I went to Home Depot, I bought some 16 gauge wire($60 for 250 feet) You can get it a lot cheaper on mono price, so maybe just order it there before you order this.
- Remote doesn't have a back light, so that means you have to change all your settings before switching off the lights and starting your movie.
- The ipod dock switches my iphone into airplane mode, no calls/texts can be received.
- Speakers do collect dust/finger prints.
- Setup is a more laborious process than expected but it's fun if your excited about your system. There's a lot of unwrapping plastic and removing styrofoam.
- Comes with no speaker stands but I went to W-M and bought some folding black metal bar stools for $17.00 a piece and those worked quite well, and were much cheaper than an actual speaker stand.
- Other Thoughts: Get it, it's not a 5/5(close) but for the price you won't do better. The heat, the lack of speaker stands, the small wires and the lack of a back light on this remote hold this HTIB back but if there was a 4.5/5, I'd give it. It sounds really great, it's affordable. It's simple it's runs your HDMI video/audio. What else do you need? (besides cold beer and hot wings)
Don't waste the time buying the 606 --> the trouble of getting speakers and bla bla bla. This setup is worth the extra $$!! This is great for your living room or bedroom(like my setup).

Unbelievable Sound for the Price...
- Pros: Deep, rich bass. Great highs and mid range. This system is almost $200 cheaper than the S7100 and the only difference is the included speaker stands. The system is absolutely amazing, and sounds as good as my friends $2500 system that he spent an additional $300 having professionally calibrated. He came over and needless to say, he is impressed by the sound of my system which cost a fraction of what his did. Oh, and his system doesn't come with any iPod integration at all either!
- Cons: The automated setup requires that you use all 7 speakers. As I currently only have space for 5 of them I had to set up the system manually, it was a bit of a pain, but it still sounds amazing.
- Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor and save lots of money by buying speaker stands separately, or, alternatively, just attach the speakers to your walls as Onkyo seems to suggest.
Great System
- Pros: The sound is truly amazing for what you pay for this system. The speakers sound clean and the sub hits like a champion. The HDMI connections are great. Having everything pass through one HDMI cable to my TV is fantastic. The microphone that comes with the system does a pretty solid job of calibrating the speakers. Dolby TrueHD is amazing. I would say that this is the best HTIB that you can get for the money that you will be spending.
- Cons: The speaker wire that comes with the system is pathetic. I upgraded my speaker cable to 16AWG. I snagged 100ft for super cheap on m0n0price. You cannot rename the inputs on the system. For example my xbox is hooked up to AUX, my PS3 to DVD, and my Wii to VCR. I find that to be slightly frustrating. The system does run hot. Literally the receiver is hot to the touch. If you keep the receiver in an open area it will most like not be a problem.
- Other Thoughts: This is a great great system for what you spend. There are little quirks that are slightly frustrating to deal with, but the sound is still fantastic and in the end thats what really matters. I would recommend this system to anyone.
Awesome Setup
- Pros: Great sounding HTIB. Reciever has 4 HMDI inputs that pass sound as well unlike the lower price Onkyo HTIB. Plenty of options to choose from. Also comes with one HDMI cord. Remote worked on my cable box. Has a calibration mic for easy setup of speakers.
- Cons: Speaker wire was too small in my opinion. I went out and bought some heavier wire.
- Other Thoughts: This is my first real home theatre system and i absolutely love it. I bought one of those dvd player HTIB and this system blows it out the water completely. Shipping was at my door in two days in good condition. Make sure you read the Bulk Shipping Policy. Setup was not bad at all pretty much plug and play.
