Great home theater starts with a great receiver. Onkyo's TX-SR606 is the heart of the HT-S7100 system. This 7.1 channel receiver comes with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD decoding for audio that sounds like what the producers had in mind. The Audyssey DynamicEQ ensures that dialogue will always be clear by dynamically adjusting the EQ settings as the volume is changed.

Eliminate cable clutter from your life with the HDMI 1080p upconverting capabilities of the TX-SR606 through its HDMI ports. The Faroudja DCDi/EDGE helps to eliminate jaggies and other video artifacts that can occur when upconverting a signal. Now your picture looks better than ever.

To give the system voice, Onkyo included speakers tuned to work with the receiver. The front and center speakers have 2x3.125" woofers and a 1" balanced dome tweeters while the surround speakers have 1x3.125” woofer and a 1" balanced dome tweeter. The 10", 290W downward firing subwoofer completes the set. All the connectors and included cables are color coded to get you listening faster.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome system, worth the money, and also new egg rocks

Pros: This system is the best you can get at this price range. It's sleek, the receiver is amazing and has the capability to be upgraded with better speakers ( the stock speaker are great, they sound amazing but the ability to upgrade in the future is always good). The sub bumps hard. I was playing Call of Duty 4 and i could gernades going off behind me, a tank next to me firing its cannon, and a hail of gun fire in front of me. I really felt like i was there. One of the best investments i have ever made.

Cons: Now overall the system is great, but it does have some quirks. The Speaker wire is sufficient but you gotta make sure they are placed in the receiver just right, i had to fittle with them for about 30 mins. Also for some reason when i plug my xbox 360 into through component (the out for the receiver is HDMI,) all i get is an off color screen. I fixed it by just plugging the video into the tv and the sound through the receiver.

Other Thoughts: Read the manual, there is alot going on and it will help you get the most out of your system.

5 out of 5 eggsSurpassed my expectations

Pros: I've had lower end home systems, and had no idea what I was missing. Sound is incredible, as is the bass. Watched a movie on my blu-ray player, and it just brings a whole new depth to the dvd. Really sounds better than the theaters, words are crisp, and sound is crystal clear. Have it all hooked up with HDMI, built in switcher works great too.

Cons: Make sure you have another person to help you bring in the box, it is over 100lbs!

Other Thoughts: Newegg rocks as always. Bought Fri morning, at my house Mon afternoon, with free S&H!

4 out of 5 eggsMaybe the Best at this price point!

Pros: Setup was easy using the provided microphone and setup program which has you move the mic to various parts of the room while it captures sound output and finally adjusts speaker volume ratios automatically. The sound is outstanding, the bass is full and rich, not punchy. The included speaker wires are adequate. I am currently just using it as a 5.1 system as I figure out where in the room to put the additional 2 speakers. There are a ton of configuration settings that let you tweak all aspects of the sound, for now the defaults are working great for me.

Cons: I am using the included speaker stands for rear surround. Unfortunately they are not height adjustable and the speakers were partially obstructed by my couch, which required me to put something under the base for a height boost

Other Thoughts: Outstanding job on the shipping Newegg, received 2 days after ordering.

Pros: This system is all i need as far as clear and crips entertainment is concern.......If you love good sound and great output this is the system for you.

Cons: The only cons about this system is that it can not handle two things at a you can not be watching your cable or satellite programe at the same time listening to your Ipod or cd, if your cable or satellite is connected to your Onkyo system to be out put through the HDMI out...

Other Thoughts: The speed at which newegg shipped this product was amazing...Ordered on monday got the delivery on wednesday...

5 out of 5 eggsEXCELLENT!! MUST BUY!!

Pros: This system, so far, is well worth every penny. I went from a 10 yr old $ony 5.1 digital system with 4ft stacks to this. The sound is very clear and precise and is very well balanced. The speakers are very sleek and modern yet maintains a high quality. Setup was very easy. Just plug everything in, hooked up my components, and turned it on. Automatic setup is very nice! It detected how far away my favorite viewing spots are away from the speakers and adjusted their output accordingly. When I popped in the first movie and sat down in my spot, it felt like I was centered perfectly in the sound.

Cons: Not really a con, but the pod dock played audio but the remote didn't work with either my 30GB pod video or my touch. Minor inconvenience.

Other Thoughts: I can't wait to play a blu-ray movie through this with TRUE HD audio and 7.1 channels of movie excitement! Definitely a MUST BUY!!

5 out of 5 eggsgreat system

Pros: System was the first surround sound i've bought, read alot of the reviews before purchasing and the system as been great, very clear sound you can hear every pin drop makes watching a movie 1000 times better. Very easy set-up I recommend using HDMI for all devices saves alot of time with the set-up.

Cons: Speaker stands come with the wires already ran through them, Speaker wire was very small i already knew that before i purchased the system, so i went out and got 16GA wire for it.

Other Thoughts: if your looking to get a great system that will last, this is one the get its worth the money!!!

5 out of 5 eggsSimply AWSOME!!

Pros: Has Everthing you want in a surround sound

Cons: none!

Other Thoughts: Would have been good if all the speakers came with stands(had to buy 4 more). Speaker wire could have been a better guage and maybe could have came with bananna plugs(just my 2 cents).

4 out of 5 eggsGreat bang for your buck

Pros: Great HDMI upconvert and sound. Also subwoofer is good quality. HDMI switching is hard to beat....

Cons: Speakers could be better, as well as the provided cables. If you go and spend a bit more on cable wiring, you won't be disappointed with the system.

Other Thoughts: I would have given them 5 stars if they included better cables...but then again, it's a stock system.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome System With A Few Quirks

Pros: This system will rock your socks off. The audio quality is very good and the 7.1 channels really gives you the extra detail that a 5.1 would leave out. The Audessy Automatic Speaker Set-Up was a breeze and helps configure you're system for whatever shape room you have. The on-screen "graphical user interface" ie set-up screens are clear and concise and the addition of the i-pod dock was a definate selling point. The system looks really good and performs just as well.

Cons: First of all anything that follows is just nitpicking: The audio is great but the video upscaling is a problem. By streaming in composite video and upscaling it, there is a flashing bar on the top of my screen. Also I noticed if I attempt to connect certain composite devices (particularly my cable-box) there is a low level hum in the background. Of course this can all be fixed by just putting everything through using HDMI connections but it was just a thought. Some of the more advanced features especially correctly configuring the Dolby Pro Logic will require you to read the manual.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this system of another website and also it was factory reconditioned. I have however purchased many products off of NewEgg and sincerely recommend it.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Best Upper Mid-Range HDMI Receiver!!!

Pros: I purchased the Digital Lifestyle 42" LCD TV & realized I wasn't getting the full use from it. I did so much research on the best Home theater I could find in my price range. $799 was not in my price range. Oddly enough I found it cheaper elsewhere and Newegg wouldn't Price match so I purchased elsewhere.
But this system had everything I wanted and more. The Ipod Dock was a very nice extra which set my sights on this system.
What sold me on it was the HDMI Receiver. This receiver acts as a component switch box. You add your tv to the HDMI Out and PS3, Xbox360, Blu-Ray Player, or whatever you have or want. It will also up convert your older units as high as 1080i. PS2, Xbox, or DVD.
This system is well built and comes packaged very well. System sounds great, has a ton of features and setup is fairly easy but configuring the assignable "ports" is confusing at first but once you see how it works you fly right through it. Lots of features and will make you glad you purchased it

Cons: 1.Price is MSRP on newegg, I found it for $599 + shipping elsewhere.

2.Configuring the ports can be difficult.

3.Down firing sub woofer has an exposed speaker it is facing down but they should have still put some cloth over it.

4.As everyone say the speaker wire should be thicker but what they give you works just fine.

5.The ipod dock is great but Onkyo sell one that plays video and it would be niceif they offered it with this system.

6. Does run warm but not to bad. They should have added a fan internally.

Other Thoughts: I would not trade this system for anything except the Onkyo 9100 THX system. Speakers are great, The stands are strong with heavy bases. The sub woofer isn't as heavy as you would think.
All in all so far I love this system
