Great home theater starts with a great receiver. Onkyo's HT-R570 is the heart of the HT-S5200 system. This 7.1 channel receiver comes with Dolby Digital and DTS decoding for audio that sounds like what the producers had in mind. The Audyssey DynamicEQ dynamically adjusts the EQ settings as the volume is changed so dialogue will always be clear.
You can even integrate an iPod or MP3 player via a front-panel input, or take advantage of Onkyo’s new DSP modes for gaming: Rock, Sports, Action, or Role Playing Game (RPG). As an entry-level home theater system, the HT-S5200 gives you incredible listening experience.
Onkyo included speakers with this sytems that are tuned to work with the receiver. The front speakers have a 5" cone woofers and a 1" balanced-dome tweeter. The center speakers have dual 3.25” cone woofer and a 1” balanced-dome tweeter while the surround speakers and surround back speakers have 2x3.25” woofer. The 10", 290W downward firing subwoofer completes the set. All the connectors and included cables are color coded to to make things easier to connect. Get the sound you dreamed of from Onkyo!

Pros: So i recently picked up a PS3, and when using my Logitech Z-540 speakers, I quickly knew I needed to get some sort of better sound option for my gaming experience. I did some looking around and finally decided to bite the bullet on a HTIB system. First I must say how amazed I was by the quality and power of the system and its speakers.
I popped in Killzone 2, Gears of War 2, Resistance, I-Robot, and man it sounds incredible!! There is so much customization to do with the sound that I don't even know where to start. You can totally tell where sounds are coming from so it helps out in games and really immerses you in them.
I ordered this on a Wednesday and recieved it the next day Thursday! Newegg never seems to stop impressing me. :)
The system came with plenty of wire as well. I think it came with 28ft for the rear surround speakers which is pretty decent. If you are setting this in a living room I would pick up some extra wire. :)
Cons: So far I have not found any cons or drawbacks to this system. Sound is top notch!
Other Thoughts: I chose the Onkyo HT 5200 because, well it's a bit new and I felt daring, and also, because I've heard so many good things about this brand and how decent their HTIB packages are.
Just so you know, the HDMI inputs on the AVR are pass through. Now I had no idea what this meant until i did research before purchasing. The HDMIs on this reciever act as a video switch, so you gain about 4 addition video inputs. You have have hook up audio separately via TOSLINK or COAXIAL cable just so you guys know. It's how the system is advertised.
So basically it just means you need 1 additional wire for sound. For this price I could care less about having sound and audio going through HDMI.
Also, this means that since we are going through an optical cable for audio, it doesn't support or decode the latest 7.1 True HD sound stuff. But you need to give it a listen, it sounds amazing, and most games and blu-ray don't even support the latest 7.1 true HD stuff anyways. Just thought you'd wanna kno

Good system for the price

Pros: -excellent price -sounds great when watching sports -powerful subwoofer -the audio calibration setup program did a really good job of getting the speakers to work together with the room -gaming modes are fun and make games sound great -fairly easy set up once we figured out the pass thru logistics
Cons: -Didn't understand that it was HDMI pass thru only, so was frustrated and had to go out and buy some optical audio cables. -Can't figure out how to get IPOD dock to display video on the tv -Purchased higher quality speaker wire and banana plugs ahead of time, necessary for larger rooms (supplied wire too short)
Other Thoughts: Overall, am happy with the system. Went back and forth between buying this system and the 6100, went with this one because of the newer technology. I like the speakers on this model, smaller and less boxy but wish it wasn't pass thru.

Pros: oh come on this is not fire hazard as the previous reviewr said, most likely he or she didnt knew how to do installation and made a big ol spaghetti of cables.
Anyway this are my pros: that thing really boom, sound quality, easy installation, great bass, the speaker calibration audessey is a big plus, the finish is awesome wood speakers enclosure with shiny plastics sides. 7.1 baby!!!!!!
Cons: the wiring really sucks,i spend another $150 in 16 guage in wiring, the ones from factory are so tiny and short don't even worth trying to use them.No audio with hdmi, have to use a separate cable for audio other than that this thing rumble the house.
Other Thoughts: im using this htib in a huge room like 600 sqf room and fills the whole room, love this thing but like i said in my cons if you spending a good chunk of money on this equip might as well go spend another chunk of money in wiring, since i was running wires thru attic and walls have to buy monster 16 gauge wires cl3 rated wires so they were more expensive than regular 16 gauge monster cables, but go to your radio shack or home depot store or any where online and do yourself a favor toss away factory wires and get yourself some at least 16 gauge speaker wires,i can believe such a powerful equipment and tiny wires how all those watts are gonna flow thru?anyway i concealed all my wires thru attic and walls over 200 feet of wires and came out pretty good ,did the calibration with the included microphone and is an awesome process, dont like the idea of having to use an extra cable for audio when hdmi is suppost to carry both video and audio but anyway i have the cables so i did the installation a

Pros: cheap for a huge free shipping package.
Cons: If I could give it a very high negative rating, I would.
I've received this thing from newegg on Oct.19, 2009. It was OK for a while.
Today I turned it on. It played for a couple of minutes then turned itself off. I turned it on again and after a minute or so it turned itself off again. I turned it on for a third time and it started a REAL FLAME inside.
I don't even want to think what would happen if I was not in my house.
Now I smell burned electronics insde this receiver. But I also smell a lawsuit and Onkyo recalling this FIRE HAZARD receivers.
And yes, newegg and Onkyo, I want my money back.
Other Thoughts: Don't buy it unless you want little fire inside your house or apartment.
