To really get your home theater connected, hook up the ultra-versatile HT-RC370. With seven HDMI inputs—including one on the front—this THX Select2 Plus certified receiver offers unlimited scope for high-definition thrills. Along with lossless audio from Dolby and DTS, the HT-RC370 supports 3D video, an Audio Return Channel and video upscaling to 4K resolution via Qdeo technology. Other inputs include a front-panel USB port for direct digital connection of iPod/iPhone, and a wide range of digital and analog inputs—including S-Video and 7.1-channel analog inputs—to handle legacy components.

The HT-RC370 employs advanced Audyssey room-calibration and equalization technologies to optimize audio output and a seamless graphical OSD and navigation GUI for browsing your content and adjusting settings. As a network receiver, the HT-RC370 also adds internet radio and PC audio to your entertainment options. Audiophile features, such as bi-amping capability and 7.2 multichannel pre-outs, help make the HT-RC370 an irresistible choice for the serious home theater fan.

  • newegg HDMI Support for 3D Video and Audio Return Channel The HDMI implementation on the HT-RC370 receiver supports both 3D video and an Audio Return Channel, along with numerous high-resolution formats. 3D video brings exciting possibilities to home entertainment, with movie, game, and broadcast content on the increase and 3D-compatible TVs now on the market. Meanwhile, the Audio Return Channel allows audio content received directly by your HDTV’s tuner to be sent “upstream” via HDMI to your A/V receiver, without the need for a separate S/PDIF audio cable.
  • newegg THX Select2 Plus Certified THX Select2 Plus certification incorporates THX Loudness Plus, and is designed for AV receivers in rooms where the screen-to-seat viewing distance is approximately 10-12 feet, and the room size is approximately 2000 cubic feet. AV receivers that achieve THX Select2 Plus certification meet the world’s most demanding home theater standards for audio quality and performance, and promise to play at reference volume levels with minimal distortion. Because ambient sounds and bass can be lost or perceived differently when the volume is lowered, THX Loudness Plus automatically adjusts the front-to-back speaker level and frequency balance to ensure you experience all of the rich details of movies when listening below reference level.
  • newegg Marvell Qdeo Video Chip for 4K Upscaling and Processing The Qdeo is a suite of QuietVideo processing technologies that produces quiet and natural video free from noise and artifacts. Using this technology, you can enjoy 4K upscaling and processing for your contents for a more stunning video experience.
  • newegg Audyssey DSX and Dolby Pro Logic IIz Add New Dimensions to Surround Sound Of course the HT-RC370 supports high-definition audio formats like Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Audio to give your Blu-ray Disc movies' soundtracks unsurpassed audio quality. In addition, Dolby Pro Logic IIz brings the added dimension of height to create an immersive 7.1- or 9.1-channel surround sound experience from any stereo, 5.1, 6.1, or 7.1 movie, music, TV, or game audio source. Audyssey DSX lets you augment a standard 7.1-channel surround set-up with two “front high” channels.
  • newegg Network & DLNA Support With the network capability, the ONKYO HT-RC370 receiver delivers Internet Radio reception and Network Audio streaming via Ethernet. And the DLNA support enables DLNA-enabled devices connected to a home network to share their content with one another directly, without the need for a complex set-up procedure.
  • newegg Audyssey MultEQ XT Advanced Room-correction and Speaker Calibration Audyssey MultEQ XT for System Equalization removes much of the distortion caused by speaker enclosures and the typical room environment and produces far superior sound than on comparable products that lack correction capabilities. Audyssey Dynamic Volume maintains the desired listening level for all content, while optimizing the dynamic range. Audyssey Dynamic EQ for loudness correction.

1 out of 5 eggsSound ended with the warranty

Pros: Until the sound quit, I was very happy with this unit; it had all of the connections that I wanted in a receiver and I was happy with the sound.

Cons: This is the first time I have spent this kind of money on a receiver. Most of my previous receivers were Onkyo which is why I chose this unit; a month after the warranty expired, so did the sound.

Other Thoughts: Not sure where to go with this; repairs are so expensive that we usually choose not to have them. If I go new, I will go with a new brand as well; this has left a bad taste with me, even with past satisfaction

2 out of 5 eggsNo sound

Pros: A great machine just like it listed. It played great sound when watching surround sound movies. However... (see Con)

Cons: Although I had this in 9/2011, I hardly used it. I had it set up in my new home theater using 7.1 method. Unit still looking like new with practically no dust collected in the back of the unit. I was watching DVDs with great surround sound. However, one day I turned on the unit to watch some more movies, and NOTHING came out of the unit. Even tried to use the test tone in the Level Calibration that the unit came with and I got no sound at all. I couldn't figure out what happened. It was as if I plugged in the unit without any speakers. Everything seems to work except NO SOUND. I have been using the optical cable but I had tried to use just the HDMI cable settings, nothing worked. Regardless what setting I've tried afterward, that didn't explain why the unit produced great sound one day and suddenly no sound at all the next.

Other Thoughts: I don't know if the unit has a fuse that protects the unit from overheating or something. I haven't try to open it yet. As of right now, the unit is as good as dead. I tried to google any forum that may have an answer but so far, I came up empty. If someone sees this and can offer some ideas, that would be greatly appreciated. It has been a great 1.5 year with this machine but at a price of $599, it is costly.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat receiver! 1 problem.

Pros: Awesome receiver. Dolby Volume is a great addition so loud and soft parts are are not so soft and loud. This made my current speakers sound so much cleaner. The on screen setup is so much easier than my previous setup. Net radio is awesome too, we listen to Pandora all the time.

Cons: PC input max resolution is only 1280x720 (720p). I have an older XBOX 360 that doesn't have the HDMI out. So I use the VGA adapter and thought this was a perfect because it has that pc input. But low and behold it has a limit of resolution. Hopefully this can get resolved in a future firmware update.

3 out of 5 eggsCould be stunning receiver, but audio ruins everything...

Pros: I described Pros in earlier review...

Cons: Unfortunately, I found a huge issue - audio will become distorted or some channels will drop if you pause/resume playback of any movie with TrueHD or DTS-HD Audio. This receiver has issue with 2 out of 4 my devices, mostly HD media players (aka WDTV Live or AIOS) are affected the most. It is 50/50 chance - it will not be compatible with your player. Replaced it with Yamaha RX-A2000, not exactly the same league, but got it just $200 over ONKYO. Neither gear have any audio issues with Pioneer Elite or Yamaha I own. I tried 2 ONKYO units, both had the same exact audio issue.

5 out of 5 eggsStunning gear

Pros: Exceeded expectation!
Excellent unit, everything works the way I want it. Loaded with exotic decoders DSD,DVD-A. My SACD and DVD-A never sounded better over HDMI. No lip sync issues. Plenty of inputs, even hooked up my old Denon 2200 with 5.1 analog and Component video. Very flexible and configurable hardware. 3D, DTS-HD, TrueHD, friendly with AIOS HD media center. Loud, but does not produce heat as older ONKYO models.

Cons: None, so far

Other Thoughts: I was using Pioneer Elite and its higher-end consumer grade units exclusively. Had recently VSX-1020 for a few month - did not like it at all. It is a steal, when it goes on sale.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a great receiver!

Pros: Too many to list. I could tell you all it does but read the manual at Some of the small things I was impressed included being able to determine how loud the unit will be when you turn it on no matter how loud you had it when you turned it off. 3 different dimmer light settings for the front panel. The ability to set the starting sound of each HDMI hookup. Three macros buttons, My Movie, My TV and My Music. Just hit the one you want and everything turns on automatically. I just don't see the need for my Harmony anymore. Again, download the manual and make up your own mind.

Cons: The manual is a little difficult to understand but there is so much this unit will do and most is explained in great detail so maybe more of a con/pro.

Other Thoughts: This receiver replaced a 5 year old Pioneer VSX-84TXSi which cost me $995. This unit was $466 less and does much more. The only thing I was concerned with was power. My great room is 20X13 and I have a 5.1 system. The sound is excellent with no issues on power. Buy this unit. You will not be disappointed.
