1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: sound and video are okay

Cons: At first i gave it a chance and gave it two stars because i thought the remote was broken. All unversal remote won't work and you need the remote to do anything. Netflix, vudu anything. Can't change setting or anything. Asking for a refund tomorrow that i have to call for. I thought i would get a working product that didn't have the best sound or anything but i got a 1/4 of working product. For me the brand rca is done. Also on line support is really bad. just spend a little bit more money and get something better.

2 out of 5 eggsremote and cheap

Pros: blue ray player and Netflix/streaming

Cons: You get what you pay for. Everything looks and feels cheap. It a slower system. Also right out of the box the remote didn't work. You also need the remote to do any stream app or anything.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Home Theater System for the Price

Pros: Surround sound 5.1, The price made me give it 5 stars because I only paid $45.

Cons: Sound quality is average

Other Thoughts: Cannot be compared to more "premium" sound systems costing +$300, so don't expect the sounds coming from these speakers change your life but it is noticeably better than the 2.1 sound from my FHD LG tv

4 out of 5 eggsFairly slow, obvious refurb, but works fine

Pros: Great deal for the $ spent
Compact design good for a smaller living room (the speakers are small enough to stick to the wall with some 2-sided tape)
Pretty good surround sound system, sounds great with my 360.
Plays Blu-Rays
Easy setup - took me about an hour including time I spent moving furniture to put wires out of sight

Cons: Sluggish response time when trying to change between programs (ie: switching from blue ray player to netflix takes several seconds)
Speaking of netflix, this system is not wireless..
Player doesn't work if your TV isn't set to the proper output..you need to force it off and restart, which is annoying
Surround sound scares my dog sometimes (lol)
Have been waiting over a month for my rebate card
The RCA symbol on the bass is chipped, this system did NOT look very nice coming out of the box
If you want to use this system for gaming you'll need to buy some extra cords (I needed another HDMI and a Toslink cable).

Other Thoughts: A lot of people here are complaining the disk drive doesn't work. For my system this is true, but only when the TV isn't set to the right input (ie: I have it set to Video 1 after playing some Smash Bros N64, then turn on the Blu-Ray player, which doesn't work because it needs the TV to be on HDMI 1...switch to HDMI 1 and everything runs properly).

The wires for the L and R speakers are not very long, you may need to splice some extra wire into those speaker lines if you're thinking of using this system in a bigger room.

I wish I bought a second one of these systems when it was on sale for my parents' gaming center in their basement.

3 out of 5 eggsRCA 5.1 Blue Ray DVD / Speaker System

Pros: Inexpensive, fair sound quality.

Cons: Noise introduced by improperly installed drive unit ( only 2 of 4 screws were installed ). Guess they wanted to save a few pennies, or maybe it was time for a coffee break, lol... Small exhaust fan induces noise as well. Controls are sluggish, and at times don't work at all without a reboot.

Other Thoughts: This is my second review, I stand corrected on the exhaust fan, my unit has one. It is very small, and makes a lot of noise. i am just going to pull it out and void my warranty, lol....

3 out of 5 eggsRCA 5.1 Blue Ray System

Pros: Inexpensive.

Cons: Irritating hum from DVD drive. Induces noise. Sound fuzzy. Not high quality, but for the price really should not expect it to be.

Other Thoughts: Another reviewer indicated the noise was coming from a fan. I popped the hood, and found the noise comes from the drive that always runs, regardless of whether it is in use or not. Poor design. There is no fan inside my unit, just heat sinks, and those puppies get really hot! Wouldn't recommend covering the top air vents on this unit, it will most certainly fry if you do.

1 out of 5 eggsBuyer beware - not an owner

Pros: Lots of features

Cons: Not really made by RCA, some company bought the name; their web site is not very informative. This product seems to have been replaced by model RTB1023. Specs claim 300 Watts, yet input power shown on the back of the unit is only 65 Watts. Impossible claim unless they are doing some kind of magic or have discovered perpetual motion.

Other Thoughts: If you want a lot of functionality at a low cost, go for it. Just be aware that you get what you pay for and in this case, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

2 out of 5 eggsCheap but not very useful

Pros: low price

Cons: Looks and feel very cheap, VERY slow response when press on any button, cannot play Mp3 music, cannot play any video files in popular video format (mp4, avi, wmv, etc)

Other Thoughts: The first unit I received does not work. Newegg did a good job to send me a replacement quickly. It does play DVD and Blu-ray, and the sound was OK for the price, Netflix also work, but very disappointed that such a device made in 2012 does not play MP3, Mp4, AVI, etc.

1 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for

Pros: Great features. Decent audio for a smaller space; especially if you do not want to disturb others, yet have the enjoyment of a full sounding audio spectrum when enjoying a movie or audio stream. With Pandora and Netflix included in the menu choices, being entertained is fairly simple.

Cons: The processor is pretty slow. So sometimes you might think it was non-functioning. Then it will finally react to your selection on the remote.
Why this was a refurb I have now discovered. After about 4 uses, the DVD player loses the ability to read, and hangs up in a seek cycle, disabling the entire system, as well as the remote. The only function that will operate at that point, is [POWER OFF]. So I assume that the refurb process consists of "get it going well enough to get out the door." After the 30days of warranty, you'll find out why. As it happens, I never set this up until a few weeks ago, long after the expiration of the warranty. Had I done so immediately, I might have a replacement. But instead, I got to use it 5 times in 13 days before it failed. I placed the failing DVD into the PC and it plays perfectly.

Other Thoughts: For $40 is was worth the gamble to find out if a Newegg refurb was a good gamble. In my experience, not so much. But for only $40 I found out not to ever buy refurb again.

4 out of 5 eggsNo complaints

Pros: At this price i was not expecting much. Thankfully the quality was fine. i have yet to test a blue ray disk but the unit played a dvd fine. Audio sounds fine although i used a powered sub woofer from an old stereo.

Cons: unit is a bit slow in the menus and, unless i missed a setting, did not power on to last state.

Other Thoughts: for the price i can not complain much. I do wish it had WiFi rather then a wired connection but that can be fixed. Everyone that is having issues with the drive not working please make sure the unit is in media mode. That is the only time the drive would work.
