Polk's PSW110 powered subwoofer is the next evolution in powered subwoofers. The compact enclosure is made from non-resonant MDF with 0.75" internal baffling and bracing for rock solid performance with superlative detail and accuracy. The combination of side-firing driver and down-firing port surrounds the room in sound.
The voice coil of the 10" driver is perfectly centered in its magnetic field for deep bass with no distortion. The built in amplifier has a 100W continuous output with 200W of peak power. An overall 32Hz to 250Hz frequency response is attenuated by an adjustable 60Hz to 160Hz crossover so you can tune the output to match the rest of your speakers.
The back panel has both line level and speaker level inputs so you can use the PSW10 with virtually any amplifier. An LFE input allows the subwoofer to receive a precisely tailored signal. There is also a phase switch for additional fine tuning of the sound. The "auto" selection on the power switch lets the subwoofer turn itself off after 15 minutes of no signal and turn itself back an almost instantaneously, leaving you free to enjoy the music and not worry about turning things on and off.

Good sub!
- Pros: - Clean bass - not overpowering and muddy at all.
- Solid build. - Has lots of options on the back panel - fits various consumer set up needs. - Easy to use. - Not as big and bulky as others out there.
- Cons: - None so far
- Other Thoughts: - I pruchased this to go along with four in-ceiling speakers I purchased. The set-up was replacing my Bose Accoustimass 10 set. When I first hooked up the sub and put on Transformers I could tell the bass was good, but even at full volume it just didn't seem to push the type of bass you would expect from a box that big. I read on other sites that you really need to give it time to break in before critically evaluating it. After listening to music and finally breaking it in (maybe 10-15 hrs) I can say it sounds like a totally new sub! In fact, I had to turn the voume down to about 25% capacity because the bass was waking my son up upstairs :) Again, the bass is clean and tight and even my wife has commented on much of a difference it makes when watching movies. I would highly recommend this product (got mine for $199), but know that you must give it time to break in properly.
Audiophiles rejoice!
- Pros: Fine volume controls, as well as bandpass control. Multiple connection options. Park this thing in a corner and you will be golden. It outperforms my Bose Acoustimass sub HANDS DOWN. (However, I still run both). Music, movies, even TV sounds SO much better now. Do yourself a favor and get one!
- Cons: Honestly, NONE.
- Other Thoughts: A word of advice: connect the power AFTER everything else has been plugged in. Also, don't crank the volume all the way up right out of the box, you need to give this sub some time to break itself in. Trust me, its worth the wait.
