5 out of 5 eggsPolk

Pros: Excellent sound quality

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I was originally unsure of purchasing a setup like this as I am used to tower speakers etc. This is probably the best investment I've made for my home theatre system.

5 out of 5 eggsNewegg Rocks (With Deals)!

Pros: The Polk Audio RM705 5.1’s, are a deal at ($249). They deliver sweet-clear sound driven with my little Yamaha RX V367. This receiver sounds the best it ever has, I’ve never had anything get this loud and maintain this level of accuracy and clearness. Only time can give the final verdict. The speaker enclosures are rock solid and have a nice quality look. NEWEGG delivered the product quickly, on time and apparently in an unopened box which is a plus-plus for them aside the good price! I’ll quote another member describing newegg on his evaluation of a product: he wrote: “NEWEGG ROCKS.” Hey Newegg! You should think about using that one for a logo on your site folks, its catching!

Cons: The only complaint I have is with the audio industry neglect to find a plug-in method for all speaker wiring. The spring clips are far to much hassle especially with fine wire cable, why they stopped with the front speaker connections on the receiver is baffling.

Other Thoughts: Also my house does not offer anything near the best conditions for sound reproduction. It has a ceramic tile floor in a huge open space, but no problem for the RM‘s. I did have to use the separate speaker adjustments in the receiver.

3 out of 5 eggsPrice..

Pros: I've owned Polka speakers before and I love them, great quality for the price.

Cons: I just really wanted to point out something that reall bothered me.. For what ever reason they cost an extra 150 bucks to buy if you are using the Canadian newegg compared to the American one.. Which is the only thing preventing me from buying these. I simply do not understand how the price could be so different.. In theory it's because they weigh so much and that'd increase the cost of shipping, but that's not it.. So, what is the reason for that? I don't get it..

Other Thoughts: If there wasn't a senseless 150 dollars added to the price-tag for Canadians, I'd totally be buying two sets of these babies.. One for my room and one for the family room.

5 out of 5 eggsLound and Clear RM7 Rear Channels

Pros: I just bought 2 RM7 satellites from a different electronics store. I currently have Polk R50's as the rear channels. The R50's are very big but sound very good.

I was a little concerned as the RM7's are extremely small but had to check them out.

They are loud and clear! I do not hear any weird noises at all. Very impressive for such a small package. I love the wall mounts too. I'm excited and can't wait to mount them. Bye bye R50's. The R50's really are amazing though.

I don't have the whole set so I can't comment on it. I have a different set in a 5.1 configuration that I mention in "other thoughts".

Cons: None I can think of. I still can't believe they can be so loud. Not a con.

Other Thoughts: I have Martin Logan Encore TF's for Front L/R and center. The ML center channel is the best center I have heard yet in the below 500 dollar range but Polk's are very close. Polk center channels are a LOT BIGGER though. If size is not a problem, go with Polk. I don't think the ML's make much of a difference on the left and right front though. The Polk monitor 70's blow them away i'm sure. I have a Polk PSW505 12" sub. These RM7's in the rear keep up without breaking a sweat.

Finally some small attractive rear channel speakers.

4 out of 5 eggsWorth the Money

Pros: Small size and great sound

Cons: The wire connectors on the speakers do not hold tight thin wires. Regular speaker wires work well.

Other Thoughts: These speakers are small and easy to wall mount with the brackets that comes with the package. They sound great for their size. I am very happy with the performance of this system.

5 out of 5 eggsPolk = old reliable

Pros: Better than most of the HTiB speakers out there. 8 Ohms means they get along with just about any receiver. Great price. A set of RM7's even without the sub will cost you more than this at most online & retail stores. Should sound warmer once they're broken in. The Sub alone could sell at $100. If your receiver has an LFE out, you can get a Y adapter to split it into a dual output... Just crank up the crossover filter and you're good to go.

Cons: None for the price. I give it 5 eggs, but that doesn't mean it's the perfect set of speakers. For the price, I have no complaints.

Other Thoughts: If you're a complete audiophile and you want the best system out there, keep looking. If you want a set of Polks at a reasonable price, these work. My living room system is a Pioneer VSX 1019 with 2 Polk M70s, a CS2, 2 M20s, and a PSW10. I could definitely hear a difference in the more expensive/larger polks, but at no point did I think "these little RM7s sounds like junk!" I got them for my parents who just moved, and this will be a great upgrade for them.

4 out of 5 eggsPolk rm 7s a great deal

Pros: great sound for the price. Polk quality sound in a small and inexpensive package.

Cons: Not the most powerful subwoofer, hard to find speaker stands to go with these, the hole for mounting is on the bottom of the speaker instead of the back like most speakers. The speakers do come with small mounts for wall mounting though.

Other Thoughts: I live in an apartment so I wanted good sound in a small package and I didnt really want the huge sub that you find in other packages. The sound fills the room without being overpowering. I worked in home theatre sales for awhile and this is a great deal and good product.

4 out of 5 eggsAll Around Good

Pros: The size and look of the speakers is excellent. They provide great sound for movies and good with music. When on sale, I don't think you can go wring with these.

Cons: The sub does the job, but for my room (large open area, high ceiling), I could use a little more (but not much). Mostly when listening to music at the back of the room. When I watch movies in the middle, it works great. Again you can't beat the deal for a couple hundred off retail.

Other Thoughts: Overall a very good 5.1 system. I look forward to adding an additional 2 speakers to go 7.1. Using it with a Sony DH-800.

1 out of 5 eggsMy ears hurt

Pros: Good reviews, nice sub, wall mounts, high end look, solid.

Cons: My ears hurt after 20 minutes, even if the volume is way low. I read online that it may be caused by high frequency sound. It may just be that my receiver doesn't know how to play nice with these speakers, but I sure am bummed out about it. I have a new Sony receiver, so if you are looking at using them with a Sony receiver think long and hard about it.

Other Thoughts: I think I may just buy a set so that the speakers are made for the receiver.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty decent set, don't let the size of the sub fool you

Pros: The speaker size is nice and compact, small speakers never go out of style. I have them hooked up to an Onkyo 706b and the sound is pretty good. Easy setup and they come with basic speaker mounts. The subwoofer performs great for an 8" sub. This is a pretty good setup for a 7.1 receiver as you can add in a decent set of floorstanding speakers and use the 4 speakers as satellite speakers.

Cons: Although the sub does have pretty good low frequency response I am sure that I'd get a little more low end with a bigger sub. The amp is only rated for 50 Watts RMS, but there isn't a whole lot of volume difference between 50 watts and 100 watts.

Other Thoughts: This is a pretty decent set. Add 2 floorstanding speakers and you've got a nice, compact 7.1 system. If size is not an issue though I'd look at Onkyo's 9100 setup which contains bigger THX certified speakers and a THX sub rated at 290 watts. For the price of these speakers and a 706 you could get that system. I plan on getting new front speakers, and a much bigger sub in the near future. Then I'll probably upgrade the center speaker.
