5 out of 5 eggsm20

Pros: these are excellent speakers was pleasantly surprised ;they sound like full range 3 way speakers and can't believe I bought them for only 69 dollars each they are worth about 200 dollars each. you do not need subwoofer with these speakers lots of bass and plenty of power for home use regardless; if matched with 80-100 watt receiver amplifier. I have m20 speakers attached to denon dra-395 80 watts per channel and these speakers really sound great plenty of power with no distortion even at high volume; sounds from all directions lots of depth to sound. for the price of 69 dollars cannot beat these speakers for the price forget about bookshelf speakers they do not compete bookshelf speakers with m20. I bought a pair of infinity primus 162 for 80 dollars each and they are junk compared to these; m20 better than all bookshelfs under 100 dollars.

Cons: none whatsoever don't know why some posters claim these speaker are lacking in bass response definitely not true.

Other Thoughts: buy these they are a steal at 69 dollars.

3 out of 5 eggsThese are good for a rear only really.

Pros: These are pretty nice looking and were very cheap. Not much bass or highs. Pretty well all mid-range. They do a good job as a rear speaker but I would not recommend as a main.

Cons: None yet but I bought solely as a rear. There is no real punch to them but they fill in great with 5 channel stereo.

Other Thoughts: Will have to see if they will hold to to my fairly high output Denon.

Pros: Well Built

Cons: if there's one thing polk will never change is their BOXY sound always BOXY and never clean my multi media speaker sound better than the most expensive lline of polk (which I also owned)

Other Thoughts: if I had to do it all over again I will never buy polk

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Look great, floor-standing, Polk sound

Cons: My ears can't find any but I'm sure someone used to buying 5-figure speakers could.

Other Thoughts: I am a big fan of Polk and the M20 woofers are pretty much the same 6 1/2" speakers I have in my car doors. The bass is present much lower than you would expect, but it isn't tight enough below 200Hz to replace a true subwoofer.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Home Theater Value

Pros: -Price
-5-way binding posts
-Decent construction
-Looks good
-Sounds good

Cons: -Very warm sound (preference)
-Cabinet could be thicker

Other Thoughts: The M20's are a great speaker to use for home theater mains or surrounds in a 5.1 or 7.1 setup. If you want stereo speakers for music listening (2.0 sound), you will want to look for a tower that has larger drivers. Some would complain these towers have no low end, and they would be right, but to expect them to is ridiculous. A 6.5" driver is a mid-range speaker, able to produce a wide frequency response, but only Bose would use them as subwoofers. To get the low end of the audio spectrum you need an 8-15" driver, in this case a dedicated sub unit.

In other words, these speakers do exactly what they were designed to do and what anyone who knows speakers would expect them to do- no more and no less. They are a warmer sounding speaker, so they will not sound as crisp (or as harsh) as a Klipsch. A thicker cabinet might be in order to help the slightly muddy sound, but would drive the cost way up. All in all, these are a great value and I would recommend them to anyone on a budget.

3 out of 5 eggsso so

Pros: Cheap - Decent looking - OK Highs

Cons: Poor quality cabinet construction, tweeters prone to blowing if you push them hard. Driver size limits bass reproduction.

Other Thoughts: These are best suited for fronts and rears in a surround setup when supported with a subwoofer. Hardcore music lovers will be disappointed in the sound. I am a picky listener and I just have never heard a speaker/subwoofer combo that I like for music reproduction. If you aren't so picky, or if you plan to use these in you home theater setup, they will probably be ok for you. Audiophile's will know to look elsewhere I am sure but if you are on the fence and have cash to burn, there are a lot better options out there.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent cheap speakers

Pros: great, spacious, and detailed sound

Cons: little to no low end

Other Thoughts: These speakers are great for the price. I would definitely recommend them to anyone trying to do a home theater on a budget. The speakers seem perfect for their design, and their design is for a system with a subwoofer. So you will definitely need to get a sub or two if you want the full experience of a movie.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the Price

Pros: I think for the price I would add these speakers to any surround system. Im happy with the sound quality as these are my 6 and 7th speaker in a 7.1 system.

Cons: Not the ideal speaker for front or center channels.

2 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: Inexpensive floorstanding loudspeaker - though you get what you are paying for. Will work very well if you are trying to assemble a cheap home theater setup.

You would probably have the best experience by using these for each channel - ie: buy 5 or 7 of these. (if you can use one as a center it's best, trust me on this one.)

Cons: If you like the rough-edged sound of Polk's speakers, this is not a con - but I would advise you to listen to any Polk product before buying - their name stands higher than their quality, by far.

There are many speakers priced similar to Polk that sound several times better.

Other Thoughts: I personally do not like these, in my opinion they are not worth the money. Spend more on the fronts and you will thank yourself later, do not skimp on the fronts or sub. Though these speakers would be GREAT to use as your rears, and will save you the cost of stands or brackets.

Always listen to a speaker before buying - I have a set of Boston Acoustics VR3's that i got for $220 each (new) and will SMOKE these speakers on sound quality - look around for a better deal if you don't want to be let down, you deserve better.

Remember that your cheapo Insignia receiver will make any speaker sound horrible - try a decent Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon, HK, etc...
