3 out of 5 eggsPSW-110 - Another Dead Sub AMP

Pros: Good sound in a small package, have this paired with a Yamaha RX-V467 - fills my moderate room well....

Cons: One day noticed the sound seemed thin, sure enough, just like a LOT of other reviews all over the internet, the amp was bad. Called Polk and of course I was two months out of the warranty - amp is only covered for three years. Polk offered to discount the replacement cost and free shipping so I decided to go ahead and try it. I asked Polk if they knew the issue since there is a huge amount of people that have had the amp die, many, conveniently, right after the warranty period. They said the volume potentiometer was the issue and they are using a new supplier. That is in line with the issue I had with my amp. Guess we shall see, new amp has a one year warranty - if this amp goes bad again any time soon I can say it will be the last Polk product I buy....

Other Thoughts: As many have noted, Polk customer service is stellar! Ken, who I spoke to, was very helpful and up front when answering my questions. Hope this amp holds up, really want to love my Polk system......in the interim I picked up a 100w refurbed Sony sub from Newegg - awesome price, sounds good and can always use another sub.....

5 out of 5 eggsRestored - 5 weeks elapsed

Pros: Polk Audio Customer service is above average in replacing the amplifier for my subwoofer under warranty. My lows / bass has been restored as of March 19th which took 5 weeks from date of shipping out bad amp on Feb12th. It is awesome to have bass back in music, the roar of a crowd watching sports, and the BOOM of explosions in movies!!!

Cons: If this is a known issue one would think the replacements are in stock and would be able to replace quicker. However, Polk Audio was waiting on a shipment of replacements to come in which is why it took 5 weeks to receive replacement. Rep in warranty was helpful but seemed lost / busy at times. Make sure you get an ETA and an Order Number to reference when calling in for updates.

Other Thoughts: The cost of shipping the bad unit is minimal in comparison to the receipt of the working unit and return shipping covered by warranty from Polk Audio. You will need to provide your original purchase receipt/invoice along with additional contact information to put in the box when shipping bad unit to Polk. Replacement of the Amp is simple connect wiring to the sub woofer and screw panel back on then reconnect to stereo and power.

3 out of 5 eggs2.5 Years

Pros: This set up is fantastic while it works. All 5 of my speakers still work but my subwoofer amplifier recently went out. I guess electronics are not meant to last forever.

Cons: Amplifier in Subwoofer went out 2.5 years later. I have sent an email to Polk Audio and will call them to see what can be done about the replacement of the subwoofer and or just the amplifier board.

Other Thoughts: I hope Polk Audio has great customer service to resolve this issue.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat speaker set!

Pros: Great sound, fantastic price

Cons: None yet!

Other Thoughts: I was taking the set for a test run and blew out the front two speakers but that's more or less my fault; just be careful on the loud side especially right out of the box

5 out of 5 eggsJust what I was looking for

Pros: Bought this when I bought a new house for the core of my entertainment system. It's hooked up to a ceiling mounted projector through the HDMI out only. It is also connected to a HTPC, XBX360, Wii, N64, and a Roku. The only one with any issues is the N64 which is understandable.

Cons: The only issue I've had, and one that is completely understandable is that with the N64, some of the games are too low res to be upscaled to HDMI. This would be fixable by running another video cable to the projector, but that would require more work than I care to bother with so I haven't messed with it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Speakers

Pros: Great Speakers for a regular size room. Crisp Highs, Sub has good punch for price point. Clear audio for a range of audio, such as Surround Sound Movie, Dubstep, Hip Hop, Rock, Jazz. Speakers are perfect size and weight and feel very substantial. Comes with wall mount brackets, but does not come with Screws or wall anchors. They do come with bolts for mounting speaker to bracket, along with another set of bolts, I'm assuming could be used for screwing into existing wall anchors (Although they seem on the small side). I used Wood Screws to mount all but center, which I used the table stand for (Comes with both wall mount and table stand). Includes 2 R8, 2 R7, 1 Center, and PSW110 Sub. I used R8 for rear surround sound and R7 for Front L&R as R8 has two sets of speakers and are non-directional (for sound effects). The R8's also come with small floor stands if not wall mounting and wanting to stick on shelf. The R7's do not, but sit flush and don't need them. I got these for my Daughter's room along with a wall mounted 40 Inch TV, and my old Onkyo Receiver so she could hook up her computer to play games and watch movies. She really wanted a system to crank when she is listening to music... and wanted to feel the base. She is extremely happy with this setup once I turned the base up on the sub to a little over half. Her room is on the second story, and unfortunately I can feel her music downstairs now :). I actually am considering buying the R8's for my living room to replace my tower speakers I am currently using for surround sound, so my wife quits complaining about the room they take up. Overall, Great Speakers.

Cons: Although it comes with wall brackets, doesn't come with wall anchors, or stud screws. Doesn't include speaker cable (no biggie as I'd prefer to buy my own, but some might find this as a negative), Center Channel wall mount seems to be designed for in wall cabling and looks as though it will pinch the speaker cable if you don't use in wall, but I did not actually use it so I may be mistaken. Got it with a 50 dollar mail in rebate, which still haven't received word on from Newegg or Polk on status, and one week later they went on sale for the same price I would have got with the 50 dollar mail in rebate, ie without the mail in hassle.

Other Thoughts: Great speakers for a dorm room, to a medium sized living room.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Best

Pros: Massive sub woofer, the whole system has great sound. These speakers are heavier than my cheap Yamaha's I have. I bought these for 219.00 NewEgg deal and they are worth every penny.

Cons: Bad instructions for the Sub woofer.
NOTE: The LFE in the owner manual is illustrated as a separate input but actually it is the RIGHT RED input. The right input has a dual purpose based on your setup.

Other Thoughts: I wish these went on sale sooner.

5 out of 5 eggsLittle size packs a big Punch

Pros: -plays music beautifully
-great for gaming (I prefer it over headphones)
-comes in protective cloth and casing
-small and compact but still plays like bookshelf speakers
-they are hefty with great built quality
-sub does an amazing job when it's on with low frequency noises
-great for the money expect ally
when subs cost around 250
-great for house hold rooms
-5 year limited warranty

Cons: Nothing so far

Other Thoughts: I am using the Polk speakers in a 7.1 system with a sony receiver + 2 additional speakers I have. I have the Polk speakers (excluding the center speaker) mounted right next to my bed, and I mean Left and right plus back left and back right speaker aren't even a foot away from my head. So I don't par say blast or I would go death but I can say they have serious sound quality. Also since they have been so close they can get hit badly every once in a while and they haven't even dented, snapped, cracked, etc. They just work as good as out of the box which is also awesome.

5 out of 5 eggsDiscontinued - Say it ain't So!

Pros: Great sound value for the dollar

Cons: Zero

Other Thoughts: Bought these on a special with the subwoofer for under $200. Very solid feeling and heavy for the size, that always seems to make a difference in small speakers. Great sound value. Paired it with a Yamaha Aventage A-820 to run a dual zone stereo rig, WIth the parametric EQ ability in the receiver, got really good sound that plays much bigger than what they are, and was able to basically hide the whole system from view. great alternative to paying a zillion dollars for bose. I see these are now listed as discontinued, so fell happy to have got them before they were gone. Hope for future sake newegg gets some other polk mid end 5.1 system.
