Other Thoughts: Last month I decided to replace these JUNK Sony speakers I bought from AM**ON that had great reviews but sounded horrible to me.

Lesson learned, dont buy speakers with out listening to them first.

Anyhow, I went to a couple of the big electronics retailers to listen to the amazingly reviewed and affordable Pioneers. Once I finally got the lazy sales attendant to setup the demo and let me listen to my music and switch speakers back and forth I hated the Pioneers. Maybe they were just new and needed to be broken in, but I found the sound VERY low and directional. Less Harsh than the SONY but still hollow in the mid frequencies. In a word, Cheap.

The Polks really stood out, they are bright, but also very smooth, unlike the Klipsch which had really harsh ear piercing highs. These Polks are not big speakers and won't rattle your neighbors windows, but bass sounds really good.

I am currently using these as PC speakers along with a Lepai 2020 amp, they replaced SONY SS-B1000, which replaced a Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 setup. I LOVED the Klipsch. Loved it, but cheap construction ultimately led to their demise. The SONY sounded adequate but plasticy and muffled, sort of like wrapping great speakers with plastic wrap. These Monitor 30's on the other hand while slightly larger produce much larger and clearer sound. I freaking love these speakers. The bass is perfect, clear, tight, not boomy but controlled. I hear new sounds in songs on pandora that tend to repeat often. It's amazing how great these speakers make music sound.

Because of these I have converted all my home theater speakers to Polk. CS10 center, Monitor 40 fronts, Monitor 30's rear. Couldn't be happier.

Pros: Good with my PSW10. Good surrounding and vocal and anything that they suppose to be good.

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure that they are good enough to stand alone or not. They lack of bass, i mean they really don't have any. They could use for adding up to complete 2.1 -> 5.1 or 5.1 -> 7.1 with the roll of back surrounding. If you want to buy them as stereo for radio or PC's normal use. You might not like it. Again, hook them up with a sub woofer is recommended.

Other Thoughts: They are bigger than I expected, which is ok. I bought some nice speaker stands for them. Using them as surround rears, they sound better than my old Klipsch's.

Pros: Using these for rears, they are great!

Cons: They are quite deep, plus the wall bracket adds another inch.

Pros: I first hooked these up to a rebuilt HH Scott Tube amp and they sounded very bright and harsh. I moved them downstairs to the kitchen stereo with a Harmon Kardon 330B receiver and they sound much better! These blow the advent mini's away that these replaced. I got a great deal on these on Black Friday for $79.99 and I love the sound they produce!

Cons: One speaker had a small ding on the bottom from the lousy packaging.

Other Thoughts: They sound lousy on tubes, which my Acoustic Research AR-2s sound great on tubes and sound horrible on solid state. Gotta match these polks to an Onkyo or a Harmon Kardon Amplifier for these to sound right.

Pros: Good balanced/clear Mids and Highs

Cons: Very little Bass, but I paired with a Polk PSW10 subwoofer so not a problem for me.

Other Thoughts: Got a great deal on these Monitor 30's for my surrounds and a set of Monitor 40's for front speakers. My center is a CS-20 and I am using a Klipsch sub. This is a great home theater set up and I am very pleased with the Polk speakers. Highly recommended.

Pros: Very good sounding speakers. Just got some Pioneers (SP-BS41-LR RT) and both my wife and like the Polks better. Very full sound. Have them set up on my desk with an old Kenwood receiver. I play music from my iTunes through the receiver.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: No need for a sub unless you want the room bouncing. I'm 49 and just want background music or a game sounds like from SC2. These provide great sound.
