The Mythos Three is a table/shelf-mount and on-wall center channel speaker in the critically acclaimed Mythos line of high performance loudspeakers. The Mythos Three come with easy-to-install mounting hardware that allows it to mount on the wall above or below your television. Also included is hardware that allows you to place the speaker on the TV or on a shelf or table top. Mythos Three is the perfect match center speaker for the Mythos Two main speakers for a truly exceptional home theater audio system.

Superior Performance Components Each Mythos Three contains a D’Appolito array consisting of three high-definition 4-1/2 inch drivers housed in a air-tight enclosure. The drivers feature die cast Aluminum baskets, mono-polymer cones and Finite Element Analysis optimized magnet structures for clear low distortion life-like sound. The drivers are pressure-coupled to two 4-1/2 inch planar Low-Bass Radiators for a total bass radiating surface greater than that of an 8 inch conventional woofer. The result is exceptional bass extension and power not normally found in slim on-wall loudspeakers of this size. The bass roll-off of the Mythos Three is smooth and controlled, allowing it to seamlessly blend with a powered subwoofer, such as Definitive’s SuperCubes, for audiophile-grade home theater power and precision. A 1 inch Pure Aluminum dome tweeter produces extended highs that reveal nuance and shimmer without a trace of edginess.
Rock-Solid Enclosure Mythos Series enclosures are hand-polished gloss Black aircraft-grade extruded aluminum with proprietary damping technologies that ensure total rigidity. All components are mounted on a resonance-free PolyStone baffle. These rock-solid construction technologies along with state-of-the-art drivers and tweeter serve to deliver classic Definitive Technology sound quality: wide soundstage, pinpoint imaging, high dynamic impact, and superb realism.
Versatility The Mythos Three comes with a wall mount bracket that allows direct mounting to a wall and also adapts to flat panel TV swing out arm-style wall mounts so that the speaker angle changes with the TV angle. An adjustable rubber-tipped foot on the supplied table-top mounting hardware permits vertical plane angle adjustment to point the speaker at the ideal angle.

I feel like I could drop it off a 2 story building and it only get a scratch. My Yamaha RX-V673 pushes it nicely. Easily sits on top of entertainment center below TV. I moved it to the wall just above TV. Included bracket made it easy. Cons: Banana connectors on back are not centered. Made it harder to route wires to race up to the center of speaker. Still run it as a small speaker in receiver setup. Not a overinflated msrp center. Worth 4 bills all day long. Cons: Really? Other Thoughts: Matching it with a new set of BP 8's. I upgraded my 8 year old Boston Acoustic Center with this and the voices "pop" now. It drove me nuts when we watched movie of constantly turning the volume up to hear the soft speaking parts and down when things blew up. I can now hear voices so much clearer at lower volumes and does a great job dispersing sound. I am a new Definitive Technology fan and am loving this brand! Quality is top notch on this. You can feel the weight and casing and know this is very very well made. I currently have mine sitting on the mantle under the TV and its perfect - just perfect. Recommend a Pioneer Elite / Marantz to go with this. Cons: Check your space - it's quick lengthy and is intended mostly for mounting under slim TVs on the wall. Did you find this review helpful? I'm sure people would pay MSRP all day. The contruction and asthetics are worth 10 times the price. Mounting was easy and they look great on the wall. If I had a wife, she'd love them. I bought this to upgrade my center channel. I had originally put a lot of money into an awesome high powered sub-woofer, so I got the better center sound I was looking for. I also bought the matching Mythos Two speakers to upgrade the fronts and rears. They all blend beautifully and look great. Look, I know there are better sounding speakers... there always are. But it's about value and these speakers are an incredible overall value at Newegg's price. Remember the 20/80 rule - you get 80% of your results from 20% of your investment and have to spend the additional 80% to get that last 20%. This is especially true in audio/video. For almost everyone, it's not worth it. This are a superior value. Cons: None Other Thoughts: I'm sure I'll never have to buy fronts or backs again and I'll take them where and when I move. Blends very well with my Mythos One tower speakers. I have this speaker mounted to the wall beneath my wall mounted television and it looks fantastic. Cons: Not really a con, but plan on having a dedicated subwoofer with any of the Mythos line of speakers. They are designed to be supplemented with a subwoofer and only sound their best with a sub. Other Thoughts: If complimenting this with Mythos Two's for front right/left, I'd would recommend placing your sub at front to fill in the tonal gaps. Although I loved the look of descrete front speakers with the Three and Two's, I've learned my lesson and switched back to floorstanding front speakers with a large center to reclaim my theater system 0 out of 1 people found this review helpful. Cons: Not a lot of bass reproduction. Needs a sub. Other Thoughts: I bought this to go with my two def-tech mythos 2 surrounds and my def-tech mythos 4 fronts. They are all powered of a pioneer 1121 receiver. Perfect combo. They are closing out all these models. I picked it up for $250 but now it is even lower.
