The Mythos ST SuperTower combines stunningly beautiful cosmetics and precision fit & finish with jaw-dropping ultra high-end performance. No loudspeaker before them has achieved the balance of beauty and brawn at anywhere near their modest price. The Mythos ST’s magic starts with a sleek and sexy polished black cabinet mounted on a beautiful polished granite base and continue with our most advanced components and technologies. Topping off the ground-breaking design is the incorporation of SuperCube powered subwoofers right into the enclosures. With two built-in 300 Watt powered subwoofers you’ll enjoy double the bass while saving floor space and enhancing the beauty of your room.

  • newegg The Case for Integrated Subwoofers Besides eliminating the need for a floor space hogging separate subwoofer, integrated subs offer dramatic performance benefits. First is the obvious benefit that you’ll have two subwoofers in the room instead of just one for simply more bass output. Most importantly the subwoofers are perfectly integrated with the mid/high section. Audiophiles often spend dozens of hours moving and adjusting their subwoofers’ crossover and phasing controls in pursuit of perfect subwoofer to main speaker “blending.” With the Mythos ST you won’t have to go through that kind of hassle to get audio perfection. Definitive’s engineers have perfectly adjusted the crossover and phase between the subwoofer and main speaker sections to achieve seamless blending and life-like sound. All you have to do is set the bass volume to match your room and taste then sit back and enjoy audio perfection.
  • newegg Rock-solid Stunning Enclosure The Mythos ST’s styling emanates from a parabolic form, grounded as much in technical appropriateness as visual beauty. With emphasis on a narrow, deep column, the parabolic theme is repeated in the lines of the cap and granite base. There is an unabashed acknowledgement of classic “American Streamline” principles in the ST, communicating motion, direction and clean utility. The slim, curved shape of the enclosure reduces diffraction contributing to the ST’s remarkable imaging that is truly startling in its ability to float utterly lifelike sonic images across a broad and deep soundstage. The granite base combined with the heavy Toroidal transformer mounted on the bottom plate of the enclosure provides a low center of gravity for superior stability. The base incorporates 5 adjustable-height metal feet that may be fitted with either smooth furniture glide tips for wood or ceramic floors or spikes for carpeted floors.
  • newegg Ultra-high Definition Midrange Drivers Each Mythos ST contains a D’Appolito array consisting of two high-definition 5-1/4 inch drivers surrounding a one inch dome tweeter housed in an acoustically isolated sealed enclosure. The drivers feature Definitive’s Balanced Double Surround System (BDSS) technology that supports the speaker cone at both the inner and outer edges for longer, more linear excursion, greater clarity and finely textured inner detail. The driver baskets are die cast Aluminum.
  • newegg New Generation Tweeter is Revelation The tweeter is a pure aluminum dome, which has been heat-treated to relax the crystal structure and then coated with a ceramic to produce extended highs that reveal nuance and shimmer without a trace of edginess.
  • newegg Revolutionary Subwoofer System The subwoofer is built around a 6 x 10 inch racetrack-shaped polymer/carbon composite cone driver powered by a built-in 300-Watt Class D amplifier and pressure-coupled to two 6 x 10 inch racetrack-shaped planar low-bass radiators for a total bass radiating area greater than a 15 inch woofer but with far greater control, definition and speed than a single sluggish large woofer. A pair of STs is like having two 15 inch, 300-Watt powered subwoofers in your room without taking up all the floor space. The result is bass that is deep, powerful and impactful while at the same time having the kind of tight, controlled and accurate response of the finest and costliest audiophile speakers.
  • newegg Sonic Versatility to Meet Your Every Listening Need The precise accuracy, wide range response and high impact dynamic range of the Mythos ST makes it the perfect choice for systems ranging from audiophile 2-channel music-only to 7.1 channel home theater systems. No matter what genres or music or movies you enjoy a highly accurate loudspeaker like the Mythos ST is your wisest choice.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Choice

Pros: These would be great for fronts on a higher end Video system as they blend in well with most big TVs. I use them in a stereo set up in my RedNeck Bar. They need no sub, but I do have a 2K sub in the system. I use a Bob Carver SunFire 600X2 amp with a lot of power, but since the woofers on these have built in amps, you can make great music with these using a small amp. I have two Carver 40 watt tube amps to mono block with these being assembled now, and that should sound great with these speakers. You do not need a lot of power to get an excellent sound with these.

- They are on the bright side which I prefer as I use a tube preamp and a tube phono stage.

- I have them in a large room and they are easily up to the challenge. I have them abut 15 foot apart. The sound stage is large and keeps your attention. These are not really made for a small room in an apartment.

- Excellent - just buy them if you are shopping this price range, and you will be happy.

Cons: The sound is just great! These are the rolled aluminum style so popular today. Being old school, actually prefer the look of the big wooden box speakers.

As I said, they will fit in well with a big screen TV. I have Polk VM 30's at my TV which cost less and still provide clear dialog, but a sub is needed with them.

It is difficult to think of cons for these. Even the price is reasonable when compared to speakers that can produce this level sound experience.

If you like to tinker with bi-wire, bi-amp, it is just not needed or useful with these.

I did find on removing the grills that many of the many screws mounting the speakers needed to be tightened, so check that.

Other Thoughts: If you can find a place, you need to audition speakers before you pay $4K as speakers sound so different. What pleases one might turn another off. If you don't have that option, just buy these. I have friends who are audio nuts, and these can hang with most they have and other things I have.

Pros: Broad balance sound stage, deep deep bass, perfect highs no sibilance. Everything is crisp clean deep hard soft smooth...... you get the idea. I got the STS's first, and kept comparing them to a friends 15,000 Paigae's, it was no competition. Every time I heard his I foudn more and more at fault with the STS's. So I found the ST's here for an insane price and decided to try the upgrade

Cons: NOT ONE! If I had to nit pick. There is a relatively narrow sweet spot where all thee sounds converge. that may be my apartmetn though. These are rather large speakers. They weigh about 90 lbs each, but they are gorgeous, stately, and fit in any modern decor

Other Thoughts: Im no longer jealous of my friends $15,000 speakers. They may have a bit of an edge reproducing the way sound moves through spaces (I swear it sounds like things are moving toward you and away, and all he has is a 2 speakers stereo setup). But the 14,000 difference, and the insanely high quality of these leaves me extremely happy
