The ProCinema 60 System builds on the technology, performance and styling of the critically acclaimed ProCinema Systems to bring Definitive’s signature sound quality and lifestyle convenience to an incredibly affordable new low price. The ProCinema 60 includes four ProMonitor 60s, one ProCenter 60 and one ProSub 60 all packaged together in one box as a complete system. The ProMonitor 60 and ProCenter 60 cabinets are molded from Definitive’s proprietary non-resonant PolyStone mineral-filled polymer compound. Both combine unique 3.5" long-throw upper bass/midrange drivers with butyl rubber surrounds (two in each center, one in each monitor) with Definitive’s signature 1" pure aluminum dome tweeter. The ProSub 60 utilizes the same 8" driver as the ProSub 80, driven by an extremely dynamic 150-watt amp. Overall performance is superb with imaging, clarity and impact which totally belie the ProCinema 60’s extremely compact size and amazingly affordable price.

  • newegg ProMonitor 60 The ProMonitors are a masterpiece of engineering and design virtuosity. They are beautifully sculptured, ultra-compact, magnetically shielded main or rear channel full-range systems. The cabinets are molded of a Definitive developed high-density, mineral-filled, non-resonant polymer material called PolyStone. Housed in the closure are a 3-1/2" bass/midrange driver and a 1" pure aluminum dome tweeter (the same basic high-end drivers used in our top-of-the-line bipolar SuperTowers), perfectly blended together with a complex Linkwitz-Riley crossover network. The rear and sides of the enclosures are actually one continuous compound curve which has very specific performance benefits in addition to its obvious styling attributes. This NROC (Non Resonance Optimization Curve) is precisely configured, in combination with a non-parallel top and bottom, to minimize both internal reflections and cabinet-wall resonances to achieve purer sound and greater clarity.
  • newegg ProCenter 60 The matching, magnetically shielded ProCenter 60 utilizes similarly styled and engineered cabinet to those of the ProMonitors to which it is precisely timbre-matched. It incorporates 3-1/2" bass/midrange driver oriented on either side of a 1" pure aluminum dome tweeter in a D’Appolito configuration. The tremendous clarity achieved by the high-definition driver in the unique high-performance cabinet results in outstanding reproduction of dialogue as well as all the other information directed into the critically important center channel. High power handling and high efficiency assure the full dynamic range capability necessary for proper lifelike reproduction of all program material. A built-in vertical adjustment device allows precise up and down aiming.
  • newegg ProSub 60 The ProSub 60 is a truly superb high-performance powered subwoofer of awe-inspiring low-frequency capability. The 8" long-throw woofer utilizes huge magnet structure, mineral-filled polypropylene cone and butyl rubber surround. The driver is loaded by a proprietary computer synthesized transmission line slot load for deep, tight, explosive low-frequency performance. The compact monocoque, high-density, medite cabinet is configured for easy and flexible placement. The ProSub 60 includes a continuously variable low-pass filter (40-150Hz) plus 5-way speaker level and low-level RCA inputs (including direct LFE sub-in). In addition, built-in speaker level outputs incorporate a high-pass crossover for perfect blending with the ProMonitors. The driver is tightly coupled, using Definitive’s proprietary Powerfield technology, to high-current, high-headroom 150-watt Infinite Power Source Mosfet amplifiers with a signal sensing auto on/off circuit.
  • newegg Easy to Place Small enough to disappear in a room but beautiful when in plain view the satellites can be shelf-mounted with their unique tri-lobed base, wall-mounted using the built-in keyhole mount or optional ProMount 80 pivot mount or stand mounted with their optional floor stands. The center channel speaker has an adjustable foot for shelf mounting or can be wall-mounted using two optional ProMount 80 articulating brackets.

5 out of 5 eggsamazing

Pros: Great balance...compared them to my boston CS system and KEF Q75... For 250 bucks you cannot beat it. The quality is also excellent.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsVery good sound in a compact design

Pros: * Extremely compact design
* Very clear mids and highs from the satellites and center channel.
* Sub puts out some decent "oomph"
* Quality of sound easily immerses the listener when watching a movie, which is what good speakers should do.

Cons: * Has some dead spots in the upper-bass to lower-midrange sound because the sub distorts when trying to cover that range and requires cutting off at a lower hZ.
* Satellites aren't terribly easy to connect to wall stand-offs. They are more designed to hang on a screw which severely limits ability to point them the way you like.

Other Thoughts: Be aware that you will need your own powered receiver for these - they don't have their own amplifier built in as some others do.

I waited a good month before reviewing these, to let them have plenty of time to break in. I came from some large floor-standing speakers with 12" woofers, and I was pleasantly surprised as to how well this little package compared. Like the cons said, there is a weak point where the sub hands off lower mid-range sounds to the smaller speakers. It you open the sub's frequency range to cover it, you will get distortion. If you don't, you get a dead spot in the frequency range. I hate distortion, so mine is set to just have that dead spot.

Oh, and who cares if this is listed as a "vintage" product. Speaker design hasn't drastically changed since these were made, so what difference does it make?

Bottom Line: If you want good, clean sound, have a decent receiver or are willing to purchase one, and aren't a total audiophile, these are an excellent complement to a home entertainment center or listening area. Much better than a simple sound bar. They have amazing sound for such a compact design, but don't expect them to compare to the full range of some good floor-standing speakers coupled with a good sub. And yes, I'd recommend these to a friend if they are on sale.

5 out of 5 eggsnot getting any better for the price

Pros: Easily wall mountable, great highs and mids, good looking, great build quality and produces good loud volume.

Cons: I personally think the sub is a little behind the satellites on quality. I chose not to use it.. A better sub goes along way

Other Thoughts: These speakers sound great, pair them with a great quality subwoofer and they'll do just fine, I have them paired with klipsch 10" sub and they really do the trick for movies, games and even music.

1 out of 5 eggsvintage according to dt website

Pros: great looking system

Cons: vintage model and not available for sale (quoting dt's website for this product)

Other Thoughts: don't bother, if you go to Dt's website and look this product up it shows as vintage model not available for sale etc.etc. however seeing as how newegg has it it is obviously still available however if the manufacture says its vintage model then I would be cautious due to possibly wartranty issues

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely awesome dual sub solution

Pros: - Awesome sound
- Very small (perfect for small to midsize rooms)
- All speakers are surprisingly loud and powerful

Cons: - None

Other Thoughts: I had already bought a pair of Def Tech 450's and a Mythos 8 for a center, and I was stunned at how awesome they sounded. It made my surrounds sound not as good as I thought, and more importantly motivated me to improve my sub. What I wanted was a dual sub solution, and when the price of this system dropped below $200, I sprung. I filled out my system with dual Prosub 60's, two Procenter 60's for my wides (Audyssey DSX), and a pair of Promonitor's for the surrounds. I can't tell you how awesome this setup sounds, and I bought all the speakers on Newegg for a song (pardon the pun). These little subs are surprisingly strong, especially when you have a pair running in tandem, and boy oh boy can a pair make a deep boom.

One thing I would also remind any potential buyers out there is that Def Tech suggests a burn in period for their speakers of 20-40 hours, and while I took this whole notion of burn in with a grain of salt, these speakers have really proved it to me. I could hear over a couple of weeks of use how they really deepened and filled out (and this was especially surprising given the size of the satellites), and my system just kept sounding better and better. I reset my LFE for the satellites and surrounds down to 80Hz from the 120Hz Audyssey set it at, and they sound much fuller with perfect clarity.

I really can't express how happy I am with this little HTiB. If you have a small/mid-size room and/or budget, these are a steal. You won't get a better HTiB at anywhere near or even double this price. For triple the price, look to the Procinema 600. For a cheap solution for a dual sub setup with a pair of 5.0 systems thrown in for free, you can't beat it.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent sound and quality for the money!

Pros: Sounds great with our Samsung LED Flat Panel TV. Turning them off and using the TV speakers really is a big let down after we got used to the depth and definition of the sound from these speakers. We are hearing sounds in movies we have never heard before. Setup is pretty straight forward if you follow the instructions and connect the speakers correctly. A few options in how you want to connect them to your system.

Cons: You may have to play with the levels of the speakers to get the sweet spot for the room your setting up in. I played with it for about 30 min before I dialed it in. It may take the right movie to give you the sounds you need to optimize it.

Other Thoughts: Awesome set of speakers for the Price at NewEgg before Christmas! Glad we bought them. They are a nice size that does not stand out in our living room. NewEgg had them here in just a few days!!!

5 out of 5 eggsVery happy

Pros: Great sound for a smaller size room. I ended up using the subwoofer in a 2.1 setup in my bedroom and it sounds GREAT. I took the left over 2 speakers and paired them with a Lepai 2020+ amp and made a little MP3/iPad/iPhone dock. Terrific sound. Really crisp and clear.

Cons: The satellite speakers are lacking in base as you might expect but I did find that if I turned up the base to max on the input device they can actually get to a satisfactory level.

5 out of 5 eggsBig Sound, Tiny Price

Pros: Price/quality, room filling sound.

Cons: Grilles can be tough to remove.

Other Thoughts: Wow. For the money nothing comes close to this system. Absolutely nothing. The speakers are solid with quite some heft to them indicating quality enclosures and drivers. Binding posts are the same you will find on their flagship models. Very nice. Definitive's aluminum tweeters can be a bit bright depending on your EQ settings, but are very accurate at revealing subtle nuances with great separation and detail. I was surprised how musical the sub is considering its size. For those that say its either too boomy or too soft you have to check your surround settings as this wasn't an issue for me. I have the volume at 10 o'clock with a 0db LFE output. While musically this system sounds great I was most impressed with how it handled surround sound. I played some of my favorite scenes from select Blu-Ray's with TrueHD and was blown away by the superb imaging. The speakers seem to disappear in the room making the sound occur naturally. The bass doesn't hit hard and we cant expect it to given the size, but its still there and better than most subs the same size. If you're looking for a compact home theater system for a small/medium room there's no competition at this price.

5 out of 5 eggs unbeatable for the quality and price

Pros: Small and easy to place anywhere. Sound amazing for the size/price. 150w RMS sub is small but has great depth. You can use banana plugs on all the speakers.

Cons: None yet...

Other Thoughts: These are ideal for a smaller room, but may not be enough for a medium to large room, especially if it combines with another room ( room into kitchen, etc).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat set for the money

Pros: Sounds great. Hefty. Good build quality. Aesthetically pleasing.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I'm no sound expert, look up an external review for that.
