5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Simple, easy setup and installation of photos! The controls are rather easy to understand and you can use the remote or the controls on the frame (if you lose remotes as easily as I do.) The pictures look nice and are quite vivid.

Cons: Would be nice to be able to control the speed of the slideshow. Then again, this could just be a feature I didn't find - I only fiddled with it for about ten minutes on initial setup.

Other Thoughts: Bought this as a gift for my low-tech-understanding grandmother - perfect! Being able to plug in an sd card with minimal setup makes this perfect for something I'll be maintaining infrequently.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible

Pros: Price, size

Cons: Lousy picture quality, especially off-angle, barely adjustable leg on back, terrible menus, no random

Other Thoughts: This may say HP on it, but it's no better than all the other cheap Chinese-made knockoff brands. As a matter of fact, that's what this frame is, it's just rebranded as HP. It's junk, stay away.

1 out of 5 eggsHigh Pitched Noise

Pros: Large screen for the price.
LCD bright and clear image.

Cons: High pitched squeal is unbearable.
Menu navigation is not user-friendly

Other Thoughts: The high-pitched squeal is a DEAL BREAKER. I'm sending it back and buying a different brand.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: cheap, large screen

Cons: no hole in the back to hang up on the wall. One dead pixel right in the middle of the screen. And it went dead after one night on. I tested the power adapter and it's good. So the unit is dead on me.

2 out of 5 eggslow quality LCD

Pros: nice materials in the frame

Cons: This 12" picture frame only has a resolution of 800 x 600, which is REALLY BAD for a picture frame this size. You would need at least 1280 x 960 to get the same quality as 800 x 600 on a 7" image.

You can see why when you calculate the pixel density. A 7" diagonal image looks good at 800 x 600 because it has about 20,400 pixels per square inch. You won't see any jagged lines or color blocks because the pixels are small enough and close enough together for a good picture

But a 12" image has 3 times the area of the 7" picture (69.1 sq in). With the same resolution over the larger area, that's only 6,944 pixels per square inch ... 3 times fewer pixels and 3 times more space between them. That explains the blocky transitions between colors and jagged lines and circles ... there just aren't enough points of light (and color) to fill up that giant frame.

Other Thoughts: Wish I had figured this out sooner :(

1 out of 5 eggsNo Random

Pros: Price

Cons: Horrible menu, cannot display picture randomly, resolution is low for this size.

Other Thoughts: I have the 10.4" version of this frame and it's the only digital picture that I've counter that does NOT offer a random feature. Which means all your pictures is displayed in the same boring order.

I can not believe a company like HP would put its name on a poorly designed product of this magnitude.

3 out of 5 eggsNice frame

Pros: nice size, nice styling, quality feel

Cons: menu is horrible, I cannot find how to set the picture display mode to Optimal! resolution 800x600 doesn't look sharp.

Other Thoughts: HP doesn't have this model on their web site listed. Is there any hope for a firmware update? Hello!?
