Because compromise isn't an option, Klipsch Reference Series RW-10d Digitally Controlled Subwoofer (DCS) brings a hard-hitting dose of "reality" to your favorite music and movies. With its superior technology and rock-solid construction, this subwoofer definitely stands out in a crowd.

The RW-10d shakes things up by employing a 10-inch front-firing Cerametallic woofer and a 260-watt RMS amplifier. Exclusive Corner Port Technology allows the subwoofer's port tube to be as long as possible without bending, minimizing turbulence that can cause port noise and distortion. It also allows the enclosure to be tuned to a lower frequency than would otherwise be possible to create deeper bass from a smaller cabinet. Another important element is a corner-shaped flange at the port's internal opening, which amplifies the benefits of a longer port.

For quick and easy adjustment of all functions, the RW-10d features the DCS digital user-interface that includes three equalization modes (flat, depth and punch) and three user-adjustable presets (music, movie and night) to create specific listening preferences. This extraordinary subwoofer also comes with an IR sensor for operation with select learning remotes or control systems.

  • newegg Impressive Bass The Klipsch RW-10D boasts a 10" front-firing Cerametallic woofer and a 260-watt RMS amplifier to deliver deep, accurate and tight bass, making your movies and music more realistic.
  • newegg Digital User-interface & IR Sensor The RW-10d features the DCS digital user-interface that includes three equalization modes (flat, depth and punch) and three user-adjustable presets (music, movie and night) to create specific listening preferences. • newegg Corner Port Technology Powered by the exclusive Corner Port technology, the subwoofer's port tube could be as long as possible without bending, resulting in minimized turbulence that can cause port noise and distortion for a more pure, clear sound.

3 out of 5 eggsKlipsch is sending a new amp module

Pros: I'd marked this 2 starts under the review "Died after 6 months; great until then" which I couldn't edit/update.

I contacted Klipsch and provided my NewEgg invoice.

With absolutely no hassles - they are sending me a new amp module and in particular I don't have to send the whole subwoofer module in.

Cons: New Amp module is backordered - still waiting.

Other Thoughts: Need to self-install. Not a biggie for me - but may be for some. I was very happy I didn't need to send the subwoofer in.

Who knows - maybe I can fix the errant plate amp and build some DIY with it?

I'll post another update after I receive the amp module and get it installed.

2 out of 5 eggsDied after 6 months; great until then

Pros: Sounds Great

Cons: Died after 6 or 7 months

Other Thoughts: This RW-10D is driven by Home Theatre and XBOX Gaming. It is NOT driven hard. House is protected by external whole house suppressor and Home Theater by dedicated UPS. Power is not the issue.

Dead after 6 months? Really? Klipsch?
The Klipsch speakers I bought with it still sound great. Maybe
Klipsch should stick to speakers and not electronics.

Calling them now to see what to do. I will be upset if I have to fork over shipping to send the entire unit back.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Incredible sound on the low end. This woofer is able to get the lowest of lows, and fills my large living room. Excelent for getting the couch rumbling during an explosion!

Cons: No negatives that I know of yet.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Sub - Great Price

Pros: -Good RMS for a 10" ported sub
-Settings controlled through digiital interface on top of sub.
-Three separate presets can save specific sub settings for music, movies, etc.
-Klipsch brand
-Bass seems stronger/punchier than my Infinity PS-10

Cons: -Settings controlled through digital interface on top of sub. Conceptually this is cool, but it's a bit cumbersome.
-Can get a bit "boomy". Might just need to fiddle with sub placement.

Other Thoughts: Good sub for the $$. I use it in a second home theater setup in the basement and does a decent job.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat upgrade over my old 8" sub

Pros: Plays loud and deep for a 10".
Ability to disable crossover.
Presets are great for late night viewing without waking the neighbors.
Price!

Cons: The port came loose during shipping and I had to open up the box to put it back in place.

Made me start spending more money to upgrade my other speakers.

Other Thoughts: I have a large living room (26'x12') with multiple openings and this sub does a great job at filling the space. When I moved into an apartment, I downgraded my Paradigm PS-1200 and settled for an Energy ES-8. It sounded OK and I lived with it for a few years, but I knew something was missing. When I saw this sub on sale for $200, I couldn't pass it up.

Placed near the front corner of the room with the gain set to -10db the Audyssey calibration set the level down to -6db out of the receiver, so it has more than enough power to spare. It plays significantly deeper and louder than my old 8" sub and I'm now hearing the LFE that I have been missing for so long.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Sub

Pros: This sub is fantastic! It's a definite upgrade from any HTIB sub. I keep it at half volume in my 12X14 room that it's in. It gives a solid presence and is a great way to keep movies booming.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Sub placement is important. Currently I have it in the corner of my room. That was a huge improvement over just being on a wall. I have a mixandmatch system until my cash flow improves. Klipsch RC-42 II center, Sony SSF5000 fronts, SSB1000 surrounds, this sub, and a Sony 55inch LED 3D 240hz TV...all hooked into a Yamaha RVX-465.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Quality and Sound

Pros: I recently upgraded my home theater subwoofers to the 21st century with a set of these and I'm very impressed. I had an older powered klipsch sub that just couldn't handle the bass. This model provides very strong and tight bass that has no trouble with anything I throw at it. Has a UI on the subwoofer that allows you to change several important things including output db (- or + the input signal) phase control in 10 deg increments, auto-on, and more! Very happy with the deal I got through newegg at $200 a piece. They were a steal!!

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst owned Klipsch product

Pros: Overall excellent bass much better than my HTIB sub. First Klipsch product I've ever owned and I'm really impressed helps they are close by if anything does happen. I'm not an audiophile but have tested this sub playing music and movies and sounds great. The selectable options are excellent.

Cons: None that I can think of so far.

Other Thoughts: Really glad I found this on sale is fitting in perfect with my new home theater system worthwhile buy.
