5 out of 5 eggsPressed into Office service

Pros: This computer was pulled right out of the box and pressedinto service as a garage shop computer. Software for the computer and cameras all installed like a dream in three hours it was on line for work. No problems to date.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I new buying it for the shop I got it for that it had not SD card read. But one would have been nice.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat for the price!

Pros: What else can you ask for at $349??
Good starting point for cheap!
You cant build for anywhere near this price.
Super easy to get into and START MODDING!!
Not the latest and greatest, but a good solid replacement for my old, sad, tired XP machine.
(Burial of his hollowed out carcass to follow shortly, followed by appropriate budweiser consumption. PRAY FOR US)

Cons: Not really big cons:
1. Need to upgrade RAM. I bought 2X2GB for $24. Easy and cheap.
Get 8GB if you plan to go to 64bit, but I think the 32bit is just fine. Especially if you are running ancient (old and cranky like me..) programs, like I am. I have heard of (but not experienced mind you) nightmarish compatability issues between old programs and 64bit
2. If you have maxed out just about every port (which i have, including especially a graphics card), you probably will want to upgrade the power supply. Deal of the day on here has a pretty decent one (500W)for $40 or so. I plan on doing this within a week. Again, cheap and easy.

Other Thoughts: 1. Lenovo phone support su_x. How hard is it to understand "Can you send me the pin outs for the motherboard connectors?" I know you have the information. Will you give it to me or not? f.u.
2. Specifically, I was looking for a description of the "Front USB connector2" on the motherboard. After an EXHAUSTIVE search, I came to the conclusion that the extra 2 pins (furthest from the missing key pin) MUST be jumpered in order for the BIOS to recognize that there is something connected. (I was hooking up an old Compaq XP 9in1 SD card reader to install the small front slot.) If you have a standard 2X5 connector, take an old jumper from a hard drive and install across the last pins. Presto! After a reboot, it took Win7 seriously about 12 seconds to recognize it, and install the drivers automatically! I hope this helps someone...

5 out of 5 eggsNot so sure about the 64 bit upgrade

Pros: Inexpensive and good for my customers - was wondering about the 64 bit upgrade that is mentioned in the lower posts - anybody know how to do this like the web address to get the iso image? Has anybody done this successfully?

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Why do people post about an 64 bit upgrade and not let us know how it is done?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat overall system for the $$

Pros: Easy to setup, great performance, very quiet, and very affordable. For day to day task this system is great.

Cons: Windows 7 32-bit will only be able to use 3.25G RAM if you thinking about upgrading memory. There are ways to work around this as other reviewers have mentioned by essentially upgrading to Windows 7 64-bit, but if using for basic tasks upgrade to 4G of RAM and call it good.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value

Pros: Easy (and free) upgrade to Win 7 64 bit
Cheap
Fast

Cons: Doesn't come with bacon

Other Thoughts: Bought this on sale for $299, but even at regular price it is an excellent value. Keeps up with my quad-core i7 CAD workstation for typical everyday use.

As mentioned by another reviewer, it can be legally upgraded to 64 bit for free with an ISO image from Digital River. Going to toss in 6 gb of RAM (~$40), a Radeon 7750 ($110) and a Crucial M4 128 GB SSD ($160) for the OS and core programs.

That is a solid system for $610.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome value!

Pros: Like other reviewers mentioned, you'd be hardpressed to put together a decent computer like this one for the money. True, it has a 32-bit OS, but you can easily download (and legally, at that) a Digital River disk image to reformat the hard drive with, and you've got yourself a 64-bit OS capable of carrying 8 GB of RAM. That's what I've got in mine, along with a Radeon HD 6570 video card, and I am very happy with the set up!

Cons: None so far other than needing to reformat the hard drive to reinstall a 64-bit disk image.

Other Thoughts: This case is easy to get into when you're reworking the system, and I'm extremely pleased with how easy updating drivers is with the ThinkVantage software.
