5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value - Make Sure To Update Video Driver

Pros: Strong CPU
Windows 7
Great Price

Cons: GPU not for gaming
Need to update display driver

Other Thoughts: I bought 3 of these machines to have available for neighborhood kids who want to learn programming and graphics design. A lot of that is tied in with a popular game so I was holding my breath on whether they would be able to handle the work.

The CPU is fairly strong - Windows Experience Index rates it at a 6.4 of 7.9 which surprised me. When I loaded the game it didn't run properly which didn't make sense to me, based on how fast everything else seemed to work. So, I took a few minutes, went over to Intel's website ( and ran the Driver Update Utility. It found a new driver to download for the graphics chipset and suddenly the game starting working at a full frame rate.

That said, the graphics engine on these machines is not very powerful. People need to realize they are buying an older machine when they buy these and have their expectations set accordingly.

The included keyboards seem to be cheaply made and I have a couple with keys that don't work. No big deal, I will find a couple more keyboards from Goodwill.

Also, the three machines that I had turned out to have Western Digital Blue hard drives in them which was a nice surprise to see.

2 out of 5 eggsNo Audio from DisplayPort

Pros: Nice small size, quiet. Has just enough CPU power for one 1080 display.

Cons: Not usable is many instances for an HTPC.

The DisplayPort was implemented WITHOUT AUDIO. Lenovo hid this, so you have to search for just the right phrase to find it. You can't connect this to a TV without VGA & Computer Audio Input connections, which means most newer TVs can't use this.

5 out of 5 eggsgood for the cost

Pros: small form factor. Great price

Cons: one expansion port.
First unit shipped without a PS but NE had my back and issued a RMA and got my new one with in a few weeks. I wasn't happy that it was missing parts. But was happy NE took care of the issue with very little pain on my part.

Other Thoughts: Good little computer to save space.
I bought this to sit inside a cnc machine so my requirements were to have an external PS and be small and fast. this was the perfect candidate for my drip feed retro on an older CNC machine

1 out of 5 eggsBad power supply - POOR QC

Pros: Price, if it worked. Right now it's a big brick.

Cons: DOA, bad power supply. C'mon people, why are products that aren't QC'd being shipped out the door? You're wasting everyone's time, money and energy. The power supply has a bad component in it and if it was bench tested for longer than 3 seconds someone would have seen that.

Other Thoughts: Would probably be a nice budget PC if I could power it on.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Win7 64bit - 32bit was installed!

Pros: Nice price.

Cons: Description says Win 7 64bit. Only comes with 2GB ram, fine, had 2 4GB sticks laying around anyway. Well it has Win7 32bit installed. PC is never gonna be able to use but around 3GB of memory. What a bummer. Very upset here Newegg!

4 out of 5 eggsGood, but not what I expected...

Pros: It is very clean, works well, not excessively loud. Mine arrived with a clean Lenovo keyboard (but not apparently new), and a cheap iMicro optical mouse that appears brand new. As a USFF computer it is quite compact. COA for Windows 7 Home Premium appears legitimate (have not yet activated mine). Lenovo BIOS and general hardware quality are pretty solid. Came with a DVD multi-player optical drive. Has 8 USB 2.0 ports (2 in the front, 6 in the back). It has an E8400 CPU.

Cons: It is not 'as pictured'. The picture shows a SFF M58P - like the other 3 M58's I have purchased from NewEgg, and expected with this one. The drawbacks for me are So-Dimm memory instead of Dimm, only 2 memory slots, an external 'compatibie' power supply, no e-SATA port on the back of the computer, and the only internal slot is a low profile PCI slot. No PCI-e 1x or 16x as I have come to expect with the SFF form computers.

Other Thoughts: NewEgg needs to improve their care in the descriptions for these 3rd party refurb computers. The picture should match what they are shipping, or there should not be a photo in the listing. The one I received came labeled as a Certified nUsed Computer, but there was NO warranty or support information inside the packaging. The dilemma for me is I purchased this as a backup for the other 3 Lenovo's I purchased - all of which came as SFF forms which matched their photos and descriptions. This one showed USFF in the description, but the picture was clearly a SFF matching the other 3. So I don't have a power supply, CPU cooler or memory that I could use to keep the other 3 running. The drives (3.5 HD and 5.25 half height optical) would be swappable. And I suspect if i moved a 3.5 HD from one of the SFF computers to this USFF computer, it would boot up cleanly (although would probably need to be re-activated).
