1 out of 5 eggsBeware. The serial number matters

Pros: N/A

Cons: Stops working after 3 mths

Other Thoughts: I don't know where all of the good reviews are coming from. Seriously, This is ridiculous. LG IS A RIPOFF!! I have the LG Blu-Ray player BP 135 with serial # 309HZWF590265 because the serial number apparently matters even though I have a 1 yr warranty on it. They are shady. No joke. They know this particular machine is faulty and won't take responsibility for it. I will never purchase from them again. I bought this in February for $50.00 and I started have problems with it about 1 or 2 mths ago. Then it finally stopped working completely. I tried everything to get it work again. I called cs and they asked for the serial # for this model. B/c of the serial number, I was only allowed $30.00 back, no exchanges or repairs. It wouldn't of mattered if I called them on the 4th mth because this serial number is only covered for 3.They won't tell you what you qualify for until they have checked the serial #. In order to get your $30 dollars back you have to show a receipt which is a no brainer but then you have to wait 5 days for either a phone call or something by mail for just for a little bit more information before they will refund you. I talked to what they said was their "corporate office", which I know was bunch of bull. I talked to Teresa the "supervisor at the corporate office" and got the same line and that the policy is not bendable. She just kept saying that she apologizes and there isn't anything she could do. I told them that they know the serial number linked to this machine is defective and that's why they won't honor the 1 yr warranty and she wouldn't say anything.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat player at a cheap price

Pros: Cheap, small, plays audio, movies and photos from USB stick.

Everything I tried so far worked great: mp3, m4a, avi (xvid), mp4, mkv (h.264), including multiple audio tracks. It also decodes DTS streams to stereo without a hiccup.

DVD upscaling to 1080p is great too.

Cons: No network (no BD-Live).
No separate audio out (e.g. optical) for sound bars.

Doesn't include a HDMI cable and AAA battery for the remote, but I can't complain for the price I paid.

The box also doesn't include a full manual, but does include instructions to download one.

Other Thoughts: I am impressed, This entry level blu-ray player delivers more than I expected.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks well with Blu-Ray, a bit noisy

Pros: Image quality very good with kid's Blu-Ray disks.
Small but functionnal remote control.
Boots and Loads reasonably fast.

Cons: - Image quality is not as good when playing DVD disks. Somehow, the 1080 upscaling does not work very well, compared to my old Samsung DVD player. The image is striped with lines instead of beeing very smooth.

- Shipping was very slow compared to other orders I made at newegg.

Other Thoughts: It does not have WiFi, but and no wired network either.
But I dont need this feature as I already have a HTPC.
Noise can be bothersome if the player is too close.

1 out of 5 eggsTime to Failure: 49 days

Pros: None

Cons: Upon a disk being inserted, the device failed to read the disk and began emitted fumes that smelled like melted plastic. Further attempts to read other disks resulted in the same behavior. Unfortunately, I didn't test the device until weeks after I purchased it.

This device does not work, and judging from the smell is probably a fire hazard. It failed only weeks after leaving the RMA period. I cannot stress highly enough how displeased I am with this product.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: A simple, straightforward blueray player. Very small footprint, minimal features, but plays bluerays and dvds flawlessly. I bought this one refurbished for $35, which cant be beat for what you are getting!

Cons: No battery included with the remote. I took neweggs free shipping offer, which seemed to take the scenic route across America to get here.
