4 out of 5 eggsGreat TV, Questionable Manufacturer

Pros: From an earlier post you will see I ordered this set and never could take delivery from AIT. I tried again and success!

The TV is great. Picture quality is very good. Viewing angle is unbelievable! One criticism of LCDs has been a narrow viewing angle -- not this one. You can see a good picture almost parallel with the screen. Yep, a viewing angle of almost 180 degrees. I would not believe it if I had not seen it.

The LCD panel does not have even one dead pixel.

I tried both wireless and wired connections. I cannot see any difference in picture quality because of using wireless. The wireless feature is very nice because all cable clutter can be kept away from the panel.

Cons: The wireless connection does take a few seconds (maybe 10-20 seconds) to initialize but it usually takes that long to get comfortable on the couch -- it has not been a problem.

The most serious concern I have is with the way LG electronics is treating its customers. This TV has a bug in its software. The settings for some options are not remembered when you power down the set. They are supposed to be remembered. Even worse, the menus don't show the correct setting for these options.

This bug is shared with another model of LG televisions -- the 55 LHX. LG has a fix for this but LG customer support has been denying the fix exists. They have only recently admitted the fix exists for the 55LHX. They still do not admit the fix exists for the LH85 models.

Why would LG withhold something that can fix problems? I cannot imagine why. It certainly is not good customer service.

Other Thoughts: The audio quality from the internal speakers is OK but not great. It is as good as you can reasonably expect.

If you want to upgrade the sound, you will have to use something that has an optical SP/DIF input because the only audio output from this set is optical from the media box.

I would give this set a 5 egg rating if LG customer support was being honest with its customers.

5 out of 5 eggsLED hype

Pros: Great bang for the buck. Wireless is awesome. The picture is eXcellent. The leds for $500 more are backlit leds and not true led. (oled) save your money and get the extended warranty for years or worry free viewing..

Cons: Wireless delays startup a few seconds.

1 out of 5 eggsAIT Shipping

Pros: I think I would have really liked this TV. The poor review is not because of the TV.

Cons: This TV was to have been a Christmas present but AIT did not deliver it. Almost all of the tracking information they give is incomprehensible except for one item: delivery date. That day came and went and no word from AIT. I called and they promised delivery for a later date. They did not deliver on that day either.

Other Thoughts: If you want this TV and have any alternative to AIT for shipping, I suggest you use the alternative. This company is terrible.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Tv

Pros: I've had it for a year and have been please with it. I recently mounted it across the room and the wireless is fantastic because there are no wires.

Cons: I wish it was bigger?

Other Thoughts: I was originally unsure of this technology and it really doesn't look like it caught on, but I am please with my purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsSWEET!

Pros: Removed from box. Plugged it in,set it up in minutes. Picture looks great. HD is wonderful even though limited amount of channels but the dvd and Blu Ray are excellent!! LG is a great brand to go with!! No issues with the wireless at all.

Cons: None. Some have said there were issues with shipping regarding box and mine was fine except for a corner that had been crunched. T.V. was fine. LG may need to modify the one corner due to no support in this corner of box.

Other Thoughts: I purchased the 47 inch wireless LG but see they must not offer that anymore but assume this tv is the same other then the size. I stole that TV for $879 with the promotions. Enjoy.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Happy

Pros: Very nice picture quality and a lot of inputs into the media box. I love the USB interface to play Divx and MP3s directly, it works very well. The wireless feature works very well and I have no complaints. The price on this set was too good to pass up.

Cons: To get the best picture quality, it took some time in the settings. It helps to turn off some of the "picture enhancement" options off.

Other Thoughts: I was initially worried about the quality and ease of use with the wireless media box, but so far so good. Works well and quality is as good as a direct connection.

5 out of 5 eggsFollow Up review LG 55LH85 HD LCD TV

Pros: I have had the TV now for a month and a half. I bought some cables and now had a chance to hook up the HDMI out of the cable box to the wireless HDMI input and rerouted my surround sound using optical cables from the wireless box to the SRS. There is a noticable difference in the picture using the cable vs HDMI hookup. TV broadcasts in 720p and it's almost lifelike. Can't wait until we can get some 1080p broadcasting if it ever happens. I leave it mostly on HDMI. Occasionally, the sound sync is off, but I attribute that to the broadcasting transmission, because when I play a DVR or DVD recording, it is in sync. I have had a chance to use the expert and color tweaking controls and you can set it up to whatever you want. I have not invested in Blueray, but the full potential of 1080p would be evident and is stated by those who have hooked Blueray up. My advice to all who own this is to run the CD manual and read it. Play with the TV and then read the manual again...and again and again.

Cons: None, other than what I mentioned in the previous report.

Other Thoughts: Some of the reviews knock the wireless system idea and I have had NO reception problems. Think about this.. Besides not having to have dozens of wires hanging from the TV, has anyone thought about the easy hookup? The variety of input and outputs on the box cannot compare to trying to hook up these wires while it is mounted or, as mine is, back against the corner of the wall, where you can't hardly get to the back (or side) of the TV. A separate box solves all these problems and if you do have a hookup problem, it's easily taken care of up front, instead of trying to get it corrected, straight behind or on the side of the TV.

4 out of 5 eggsThis is a great TV.

Pros: It's really big. Most all of your friends will love it and want to be you. (except the ones with little cr@ppy apartments that it just wouldn't fit in.) Little or no wires thanks to the wireless feature. It plays a variety of video formats via USB. (Mp4, mkv, divx, and avi) That feature goes really nice with a external hard drive. In general it looks great and plays even better. It also works as a really huge computer monitor... and something just has to be said for a sniper scope the size of a garbage can lid.

Cons: The wireless is iffy....I don't know if I'd do it again. The media box you plug all your stuff into has to be within 10 feet of the TV and out on top of the stereo case or the signal strength is affected and the TV downshifts to a less than impressive image equal to that of about a 1970's color TV from Kmart. A big Kmart TV....Not exactly what I signed up for. I had delusions of eventually hiding my stereo equipment in a well ventilated closet somewhere and using a RF relay for my remotes. It would finally give my living room that clean "no Kids" look I've been after all these years. Well guess what, it's not gonna happen...
I can play my Divx movies on the TV from an external drive or a thumb drive and they look good. For what ever reason I lose the ability to adjust the aspect ratio and sound scheme while doing so. It just annoys me... Oh, and one last thing. This TV may possibly have the worst sound projecting ability I have ever heard. Make sure you have a stereo, even a cheap on

Other Thoughts: I love this TV despite all the cons I mentioned. It plays HD content like it was meant to be seen. I even plays standard def content better than your old TV just due to the 120Hz. So what if I have to jack the volume up to 90 to hear what the guy just said. He looks great...I'll just learn to read lips or figure out how to turn on the subtitles.
You should not be afraid to purchase this TV as it is an awesome TV. Just don't buy it for the wireless, thinking it's gonna look great mounted on the wall with no wires hanging down. Because even if you don't have stereo cords or other cr@p hanging from it your still gonna have that big black power cord hanging from the TV stretched out to the nearest outlet. Unless you add an outlet behind the TV... But then if you decide to move it... Well you get my point...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat TV

Pros: Great Picture, The wireless is working a full power. I have read a few other reviews talking about wireless issues but don't think they have an understanding on how wireless works and what disrupts the signal. I have it wall mounted so the media box is the way to go for sure. I like most people have tons of PS3, Wii, Cable Box, etc to hook up.

Cons: On board sound is Ok but if you want the true movie experience you need to invest in a sound system and not rely on the TV. While it is better than a standard TV sound it's still TV sound.
