Can I use an external hard drive to this model?

Hard drive for what? Connect to what? Do you have the right product?  It's out of stock anyway.  You can connect external HD to the USB port.  I never used that port.

Is this a Direct lit or Edge lit LED tv? What are the differences between this model, and the LG 43LF5400? Thanks.

This TV works GREAT! I have always purchased SONY and Samsung brands HDTV. But after using this one for a few weeks I'm happy with the sharpness, clarity, and sound. If you are not looking for smart features, I would recommend buying this LG tv.

can I connect a DVD player using the red, white and yellow cables? Don't see this type of connection on the rear of the TV

The specification list says it has 1 composite input. I'm assuming it's on a side input panel not pictured, these flat screens tend to have a back input panel and a smaller side input panel. Yellow, is video and Red and White both represent a speaker channel. Collectively it's called composite.

Newegg list's this TV as 1080p yet LG specifications show the resolution to be 1366x768, which is obviously not 1080p, so. . . .

Which is it?!?! I was looking to pull the trigger tonight but now I have conflicting information.

Don't most TV's this size need 120 HZ?

120Hz is not needed per se, it tends to make the image present a bit smoother by increasing it will reduce some motion lag blur from fast moving object and other rare occurrences.  It may not remove them altogether however, I do prefer a 120Hz experience but less sensitive viewers might not notice or even care so much.

In the end Yes 120Hz is better than 60Hz but the price may not warrant it or maybe you only casually view TV etc so you don't care as much. The choice comes down to you.
