5 out of 5 eggsNice!

Pros: Looks excellent. Easy setup. Looks EXCELLENT!

Cons: Controls are on TOP of the TV... kind of awkward. The aspect controls are a little different. Bit of a delay on switching inputs. The "1000:1 Contrast Ratio" is actually a bit annoying. The real contrast ratio, i believe, is 2000:1. The other thing just dims your screen everytime there is more dark then bright on the screen. Basically, it makes your screen darker when it thinks it should be darker... even if it shouldn't.

Other Thoughts: Would purchase it again if I had a do-over.

3 out of 5 eggsVery Sharp

Pros: 100% Perfect picture right out of the box. I have no dead pixels after 6 months of 24/7 use. But there are times when I have to adjust brightnes and other settings to get a better brighter picture also the auto, light adjust dont work that well. And all you gamers this TV is very fast all my games look great PC, X360, PS3, Wii all of my systems look wonderful. Even with all my problems I still love this TV I hope it will last a few years anyway goodluck.

Cons: After a couple day of owening this TV I got up one morning to turn on the news and it would not power on. I tried unplugging and everything it had direct cable hookup so there was no way another componet was the fault. So before I went to pull it off the wall I tried it one more time and it worked WOW was I in SHOCK!!!

Other Thoughts: well a couple months after that I turned the set on and the channel numbers and the settings nothing would work I tried turning up the Volume and changing channels nothing worked it would go on and off thats it so I was freaking out again I didn't want to send this thing back it so darn big well a few hours later it started working again this TV has a mind of it's own I would buy closer to home next time even though NEWEGG ROCKS!!!

3 out of 5 eggsWould be a great TV if it weren't for banding issues

Pros: Beautiful picture, acceptable contrast ratio, will accept 1080p on both hdmi inputs, works with linux/mythtv with the right modeline settings.

Cons: Beware of banding! I was fully aware of this issue before I bought. I'm extremely picky when it comes to things like this though. Because of the potential issues, I purchased from a local retailer with a very generous return policy. I'm glad I did. I'm on set number 3 right now. The first set had 3 distinct vertical bands. The second set had 7-8 distinct horizontal bands. The third has faint horizontal bands. It's much better than the first two, though. It's minor enough that I've decided to live with it.

Other Thoughts: If you're picky about picture quality issues like banding, I'd think twice about purchasing this set. If you do, I'd recommend buying it from somewhere with a good return policy. As much as I swear by newegg, I'm glad I bought this locally, which made returning it much easier.

5 out of 5 eggsProfessional Quality - Stunning!

Pros: Crystal clear picture with a decent HDMI cable. I was using a cheap one, and then bought a monster cable; it cleared the picture up 10 fold. With the "bargain" HDMI cable the picture would pixelate until the motion on the screen was not moving. It seemed like it was low motion filtering that you see on badly compressed DIVX or DVD movies. The monster cable cleared that up right away. Bright picture, many options with video settings, and input selection, one of my favorites is the fine motion setting which increases response time for fast moving objects on the screen (like car racing/video games). We have HD cable, clarity/color is stunning. Have a Wii and Playstation 3 hooked up, I don’t see any motion blurring or screen tearing from contrasting colors. The TV stand is rock solid and made of metal. All the inputs are easy to reach/read and connect since they are all located on the side of the television instead on the under side. Professional feeling to the whole TV.

Cons: Minor, but the speakers built into the LCD are not the best I have ever heard. The speakers are clear and there is no hissing or humming, but as to be expected there isn’t much bass to them. A little home theatre system would go nice with this TV.

Other Thoughts: We don’t have a Hi-Def DVD player yet like BlueRay, expect the PS3, but with the current DVD player we can do HDMI with 1080i up-scaling that really looks good for what it is. With each component you connect to the TV such as video games, DVD the view mode button has different options available to stretch or zoom. My favorite was hooking up the Mac Mini with DVI to HDMI connector and the view setting allowed, Stretch, Dot to Dot (which means fit to screen with a resolution setting – we used 1980X1200) and the screen is crystal clear. It should be noted that standard television will look blocky on a screen this size, but there is an option to view it in standard 4:3 viewing with side bars, which makes it look like you are watching TV on a 46” standard CRT television instead of the 52” widescreen. The TV throws off a ton of heat so if you have a small room, expect to feel a bit warmer in it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat TV - no banding here

Pros: The picture on this TV is great; no banding that I can see. I really debated getting this model because of all the banding issues that people reported. As I read more from other sites I guessed that these people just had "an eye" for that type of thing and that I likely wouldn't notice it. If this TV has banding, I don't notice it at all. Great color and brightness and the viewing angle is excellent.

Cons: I was disappointed to find out that there is no USB port in this TV so it's not possible to perform firmware upgrades. I'm not sure this TV will need it but I know that the Phillips 37" I bought 2 years ago is capable of firmware updates -- and I've performed a few to get some new features.

The color controls could be a bit better. I prefer the MOVIE A/V mode as it seems to give the most accurate color representation.

5 out of 5 eggscrystal clear

Pros: I use this as my PC monitor/home theatre television. My PC outputs a 1080p signal over HDMI which the Aquos picks up automatically. For Television I watch Bright House Networks HD service in 1080i. Both are crystal clear! At first the PC had some zoom issues and ghosting that was noticeable with blacks over whites. After reading the manual I was able to tweak this away for proper aspect and beautiful clarity. Free freight shipping on a 100+ pound box is always a pro!!

Cons: A dozen or so stuck pixels, 1 in red at the bottom (very annoying and noticeable even from a yard away) the others green and blue, not so noticeable. All corrected themselves while I was using it in the first week. It also gives off a fair amount of heat, so who knows what my electric bill will be...

Other Thoughts: Call of Duty 4 and Crysis in 1920x1080 resolution are absolutely stunning!! I found myself dodging bullets because its size immerses you into the game. This is my 3rd and largest newegg LCD purchase and will never again buy a television in a brick and mortar store because they just cant compete with the price. If your looking for a 1080p LCD and can handle only 2 HDMI inputs this the box for you!

5 out of 5 eggsBeutiful!

Pros: I had a 27" tube TV.....I set this bad boy up and put in the DVD "The Four Feathers" The British attempt when they tried to from square looked incredibly pathetic! Not the picture of course-it was awsome! This is a great TV-great picture and very easy setup

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I bought an upconvert dvd player-its a must have for viewing HD if you dont have a Bluy Ray or HD-DVD player. I also bought the Terk indoor amplified antenae.

5 out of 5 eggsAn Excellent Choice

Pros: I'm feeding it 1080i through HDMI from Toshiba HD-A2 HD-DVD, and 1080i through component from Motorola HD cable box. I use the dot by dot setting and it automatically scales all images from all resolutions to full screen with minimal if any distortion. This is what I always wanted in a HD TV. The PQ is absolutely outstanding with no banding or pixel issues. Lightweight for it's size. Doesn't get hot. I'm glad I saved a ton of money by judging this set with my eyes and not falling into all the marketing traps.

Cons: None so far and none expected.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this off the wall at a local store. The reason is simple. I've read way too many horror stories about LCDs and Plasmas. My 30 years of experience with electronics is that if it works fine after a month it should work fine for many years to come. This unit was on the wall at the store for about a month so it's as good as new and I knew what the picture would look like after I got it home.

5 out of 5 eggsBeats Plasma

Pros: The TV arrived as scheduled and intact. Shippers were very efficient. The TV was better than expected. I was determined to buy a same size plasma, but after seeing this model in a store decided to compare. Blacks are not absolutely black in a dark room, however they are very exceptable besides having a 10k dynamic contrast. The biggest tradeoff over a plasma is power consumption. Plasmas are NOT green. This LCD uses roughly half the power of a plasma. It also doesn't heat a room up needing an air conditioner to cool things down (adding more energy costs) when using a plasma.
The HD is breathtaking. You do have to tweak it a little out of the box. I recommend simply for the sake of knowing what the TV can do. It's easy to restore defaults if you go to far.
Overall this is a great buy. Beats paying $500 or more at a brick and mortar store, over NEWEGG price.

Cons: I can see why the remote is nothing special as most people will use a home theater universal or a cable box remote as I do.

Other Thoughts: Aquos Advantage is free and extends your warrantee by Sharp. It also provides comprehensive help concerning your set. This seems like the same set as a LC-52D64U except that it's not as thin, has one less HDMI. and a few hundred less in price.
