4 out of 5 eggsCheap, big and Good Enough

Pros: This Monitor is a Cheap decent monitor for low price + free delivery... Works Well with Cable, Dish, etc.. Built in speakers + subwoofer are ok for the average tv set. Picture in Picture is sometimes nice to play with but not really that usefull since there is no tuner. No Tuner ( aka saves on cost).
The entire TV box and all was shipping inside another box with padding. Better than expected.

Cons: Problems with HDCP connection to ps3 via HDMI causes the HDCP handshake to fail and loose the picture .. (supposed solution is to connect a hdmi to dvi cord to DVI2 on the monitor. )
Its Just a monitor, If you are picking up your Television signal over the air this monitor has no built in tuner you will need a Separate Tuner of some kind.. ( Cable box, Dish box , Digital TV Tuner.)
Only 1 HDMI connection.

Other Thoughts: For the Price this is a simple no frills monitor to display a big 47" image at 1080p. The lack of a Tuner is really not a bi deal since most of the people that would be buying this are using a separate tuner anyway. The Screen is REALLY bright. I suggesting on renting or purchaing some screen calibration DVD or similar to set the video setting up correctly.

1 out of 5 eggsDissapointed

Pros: At first the TV was great, it has a great picture and for the price I couldn't find anything better. The sound is a little lacking, but so is the sound on almost all LCD TV's. I really like this TV. Some of the other reviews said the font smoothing on the TV was bad, well it looked great on all my computers ( though I turn on font smoothing within the computer so all my fonts always look good ). Also the built in menu is quite nice, and pretty easy to use.

Cons: After about a week of owning it, it developed a weird humming sound. Now I can barely hear any audio from any source on the TV. The sound is so bad the TV is unusable. I am sure glad I got a 4 year warranty on the TV. Also when using the TV as a computer monitor there is a bit of over scan at the top, it couldn't be more then 5-10 lines though. It had 2 DVI inputs but there DVI-D only, which means no VGA-DVI adapters will work. Also there is only one HDMI port, but that's not really a problem because I don't need more then one. Also I have noticed if you use the TV for a long pierod of time it gets quite hot, but that is pretty normal for all LCD TV's because of there backlights. One thing that can get really annoying on the TV is the Autosource feature, I would be watching TV with my Xbox plugged in and turn on my xbox to download something, and switch back to the TV input and the auto source would just switch back to the Xbox. It's a good idea to turn off the Autosource.

Other Thoughts: As you can see for me the Pros don't really out-weigh the cons, but it's still a great TV. I would but it again in a heartbeat. But the sound problem is so bad I can't give it more then a 1 Egg rating.

1 out of 5 eggsNightmare customer service -- If you have defective unit - Beware

Pros: Price

Cons: Westinghouse customer service is the worst service I ever had in my online purchase. My unit was defective and I had to send it back to Westinghouse on first day then I received the unit back after few months later. Once I received it there was a panel problem due to fedex ground. So i send it back to the manufacturer once again and received it 3 months before 1 yr. warranty was over.

Other Thoughts: Westinghouse customer service is done by other 3rd party service contractor. Do not bet your purchase on this brand. Westinghouse is only a brand without brand -- premium service -- Nightmare customer service...

5 out of 5 eggs1 year in and happy

Pros: Tons of inputs

Cons: Input selection from the remote can be awkward at times

Other Thoughts: I have my speakers, HD cable box, Wii and a Media Server hooked up to this thing and it works great. I bought this when it was around $1100 and it was worth it then. Only thing missing is a TV tuner which you won't need anyway. I bought this model on the recommendation of a friend (he has the 42") and we are both very happy!

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad at all...

Pros: I bought this to replace my Dell 30" monitor.

That being said this is NOT a replacement for the fine Dell, but its close...kinda'

I use my Mac as a total digital hub.

I do graphic/web design on it...

I have 2 HD TV tuners...

I watch movies in many forms (DVDs, avi, mp4, etc...)

This monitor covers it all, especially movies or TV in HD...incredible!

Cons: Very much lacking as a PC monitor as far as font smoothing goes. My Dell partnered up with a pretty phat video card were incredible at this, but I knew this before I ordered this monitor. I did my research before buying and the font smoothness has been a recurring issue in reviews on the www.

Other Thoughts: All-in-all this has been a good monitor/TV.
However I did the smart thing and bought the 4 year in home warrantee as I've heard these things tend to die a rather young death.

Other Thoughts: Beware of the big W.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Picture and Value

Pros: We have owned this monitor for almost 3 years now and have been very happy. We have 3 HDTVs and this one by far has the best picture. I need to put this in the context that we purchased all of our HDTVs 3 years ago. The viewing angle is eggseptional (couldn't help myself). Looks great from the sides. The speakers are good and it appears the monitor will decode AC3 (aka Dolby Digital) via HDMI.

Cons: The remote sensor is very particular. If you get too far off, it won't respond. Unless you get a high end universal remote, it may not support Westinghouse. The DVI1 port does not work right and seems to cause the display to act like 1920x1088p (as opposed to 1080p). DVI2 and HDMI are fine. This may have been fixed in a firmware update. No 1080p 24 or 120 hertz, 59.97/60 hertz only. I own 3 Westinghouse displays. They all have at least 1 sticky pixel. Luckily, this one is cyan and it's hardly noticable.

Other Thoughts: When we purchased this unit it was $1800 on sale and we've been very happy. HDTV technology is leap frogging. Quality is going up as price goes down. This unit has been a solid purchase. I've seen a lot of DOA posts. This happens more often on value products. Buy from a reputable merchant (like newegg) and you can get a replacement. The unit does not have a tuner. Since most people will have cable, satellite, VMC, etc., it's not a major issue. This is not a great TV, but it's a very good monitor.

1 out of 5 eggsscreen defect

Pros: Low price for a 1080p tv at the time I bought it.

Cons: I bought the 37" version of this tv which doesn't seem to be sold anymore. After about 1 year I started noticing a shadow on the right side of the screen which I miss diagnosed as persistent image, which you expect to see when playing games with static hud elements. Unfortunately its gotten darker and darker since I first noticed it and its become clear that this is a screen defect.

Other Thoughts: I don't expect perfection when it comes to electronics, if I buy a defective product and have to rma it that is fine. I do however expect when I buy a tv for the price of a used car that I should be protected for a period longer than one year, especially when defects like in my case can take longer than a year to present themselves.

Needless to say I emailed westinghouse and received no response, which is a pretty common tale.

Companies need to realize that customer service makes or breaks success in the age of information. If I even deter one person from buying a tv from them they have already lost more than the cost of replacing my unit. From the reviews and forum posts I dug up on google I'd say they're losing money hand over fist in that respect.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't get ripped

Pros: None

Cons: This review is not for the product but for the company in general.

This is the worst company I have seen. They dont stand by their own product. I had a 42 Inch HDTV. When its main board stopped, westinghouse simply refused to repair because the TV was out of warranty (Not even out of warranty service). General TV repair people cant touch this TV simply because the ciruit diagram is not available at all. Only people I found being able to repair this piece of junk were Geek Squad. They go hand in hand with Westinghouse in cheating the customers. BBB has expressed serious doubts about Wesinghouse. Dont let Wasting House (Westinghouse) waste your money.

1 out of 5 eggsQuestionable Quality

Pros: At first it had a nice clear picture. It was OK for what I paid for it.

Cons: After about 10 months, it developed what looks like a water stain over about 50% of the screen on the right side. It looks like water seeped from the ceiling on a wall, and is much darker in that area. Strange pattern. It has ruined any enjoyment of using it and has rendered it more or less trash for viewing movies on.

Other Thoughts: I will never buy a Westinghouse product again. Be smart and go with a more reliable brand.
