True 1080p at an affordable price has been the goal of many manufacturers. Westinghouse got there with the LVM-37W3SE. They didn’t skimp on the features either. There are three 1080p/HDCP capable inputs, one HDMI and two DVI. Plus the VGA/D-Sub also supports 1080p. The two component inputs support 1080i, so you’ve got plenty of options available for HD viewing.

The chassis is only 4.7” thick and has 75mm X 75mm and 100mm X 100mm VESA mounting holes so it’s easily wall mountable using standard wall mount systems. At only 43 pounds without the base installation is easy. The SpineDesign puts all of the connectors on the sides of the TV for easy access, even when mounted to the wall.

Of course none of that matters if the picture doesn’t look good. The 176° horizontal and vertical viewing angles make sure everyone in the room has a good view. A 1000:1 contrast ratio and 550cd/m2 brightness rating lets you see the show, no matter what the lighting is. Westinghouse moves into the next phase of displays with style and function, as it has for decades!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat TV for the Price

Pros: Great picture quality, still works after three years later. All of the inputs and outputs you need (or at least that I need). Amazing value for money (for the then price of $800.00).

Cons: If you are an audiophile, the speakers on the actual television leave a lot to be desired, easily remedied by using either a headset (like myself) or a state of the art surround sound system (like a buddy of mine).

The default picture settings are a little bad, tweaking these to your preferences is highly recommended.

Other Thoughts: This was my first foray into High Definition Television and it is still the only television I own, I do not regret this purchase in the slightest.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor for computer

Pros: Absolutely stunning picture, I moved from a 22inch LG to this monster and the picture quality remained the same (if not got a little bit better). Beautiful for WOW, Fallout 3 and NHL 09.

Cons: Xbox 360 picture is a tiny bit fuzzy but its connected with components, not hdmi. I do notice a little bit of tearing not enough to be annoying just once in a while you notice it.

Other Thoughts: I placed my order Tues evening, monitor left from NJ the following day and arrived in Chicago Thurs night and was delivered Fri morning. Box had a few nice dings but the monitor was unscathed. Plugged it in changed my resolution to 1920 x 1080 and was truly impressed with the quality of the picture. has all the features you could ask for. I had decided to go with this over a 26 inch LG monitor despite the horror stories I have read here, I'm very happy I did this really is worth the money if your going to use it as a computer monitor. A strange note the included remote has to be in front of the monitor to work but without programing the remote works with my 32" sony TV and it does not have to be directly in front of it.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Company Ever

Pros: Cheap
dvi input

Cons: Everything besides the price

Other Thoughts: I got this very monitor. It died on me in about 3 and a half months so I could not return it to the store. I contacted westinghouse customer support since it was under warranty. I had to pay for shipping to ship the television to westinghouse. Customer service gave me the run around for months when I called to inquire about the status telling me they had to send a request for an update to another department and would call me or send me an email. They never contacted me I always had to call them. One time I called they said it would ship soon. I called back a few weeks later and they said they need to send a request to another department again. Long story short I never got my replacement, until I contacted the coporate office. They upgraded my monitor to a 42 inch my troubles. I got it that monitor broke too. I got another one and that broke. Basically I am on my 6th monitor which is now a 47 inch which has been broken for over a month now, I am still trying to get it replace

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Monitor for PC or TV!

Pros: Crystal clear picture, vivid colors, dark blacks, and a gorgeous HD picture! Whenever the kids bring friends over and they see me playing games or working on it, they can't stop talking about how awesome it is. After 2 years of use with windows, still no burn in :)

Cons: The ONLY one...very bright, even with backlight set to lowest setting. I sit about 5 feet away, leaning back in my chair usually.

Other Thoughts: I've had this monitor for a couple of years. I bought it at a military store the day after Thanksgiving 2 years ago (for this same price after a 200.00 rebate). I play UT3, UT2, GRAW, WoW, Call of Duty 4, and many other games on this monitor. It doesn't have any ghosting that I've noticed and the picture is absolutely stunning. I'm powering it with a BFG 7950x2 SLI Card at 1920x1080 resolution. When I do work on it, I can have 3 pages of a document open at once, or a huge amount of spreadsheet cells showing. Looks great with Vista as well. If you're an I.T. guy like me, have management buy a couple of these for your office. You can have several remote desktops available at once. It's also great for a NOC.

1 out of 5 eggsi have a 42''

Pros: good picture quality for cheap price

Cons: ive had the 42'' westing house moniter much like this for about a year now and ive relized two weird lines running up and down the tv whenever using it. after the year mark this tv is a peice of junk and coinsidently westing house stops the coverage after a year....i wouldnt buy this peice of junk if i were you save your money for something that will last....i regret getting it....maybey they should make their tv's with a less defect rating so there arnet so many breakage reports and they actually last instead of being a peice of junk

Other Thoughts: another company just trying to swindle the consumer

1 out of 5 eggsdo not buy this tv

Pros: looks awesome

Cons: broke one hour after turn it on (bought from buy dot com)

Other Thoughts: Do not buy westinghouse, they have the worst customer service. I told them I got this defective TV and they said I can ship it back on my self and get a refurbished one. buy dot com is even worse... should always go with newegg.com....

5 out of 5 eggsSweet

Pros: Very large screen if used as a PC monitor (which I am). Very vibrant colors, 8ms response times which isn't too shabby for the price. Works extremely well in games (I didn't think it would). Hooked it up and plugged it in and it worked. Not much to setup...auto-senses which input to use. The price is unbeatable for what it is.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: I was a little leary about Westinghouse, but now that I am using this one, I would definitly buy another one when the time comes.

2 out of 5 eggsdo not buy

Pros: Stunningly brilliant picture

Cons: Artifacts running from to to bottom caused us to return this unit for repair. In several weeks it was replaced by a used set. About that time the warrenty ran out. Over the period of a month or so this set also developed these vertical artifacts. When I called Westinghouse and was told since the warrenty, this was mine not theirs. In summary, if you are looking for a tv prone to go bad that will be replaced with a used tv that may also go bad, THEN THIS IS THE BRAND FOR YOU.

Other Thoughts: Poor!

1 out of 5 eggsBeware the EDID

Pros: I have had the prior model, the LVM-37W3, for over a year now. It has a marvelous image. Simple featureset that is still fully functional. AutoSense feature is really nice. I would imagine this version, the LVM-37W3SE, would be the same...if I could get it to work at all.

Cons: Apparently, SOME LVM-37W3SE are not compatible with Xbox 360, Sony PS3, or DirecTV HD-DVR A21 and others are--according to other reviews posted here. While the prior version (LVM-37W3) works perfectly well with these same three devices, the specific version I purchased here (LVM-37W3SE) does not. It is due to the EDID fault other reviews here have already discussed. Apparently some sets have this flaw while others do not. It's a gamble which one you will receive. You can do a Google search on LVM-37W3SE EDID to see some web links that discuss the problem in more detail.

Other Thoughts: Due to the aforementioned EDID flaw, do not buy this product if you intend to use it with the above-mentioned devices as your chances of being stuck with a lemon are reasonably good.
