True 1080p at an affordable price has been the goal of many manufacturers. Westinghouse got there with the LVM-37W3SE. They didn’t skimp on the features either. There are three 1080p/HDCP capable inputs, one HDMI and two DVI. Plus the VGA/D-Sub also supports 1080p. The two component inputs support 1080i, so you’ve got plenty of options available for HD viewing.
The chassis is only 4.7” thick and has 75mm X 75mm and 100mm X 100mm VESA mounting holes so it’s easily wall mountable using standard wall mount systems. At only 43 pounds without the base installation is easy. The SpineDesign puts all of the connectors on the sides of the TV for easy access, even when mounted to the wall.
Of course none of that matters if the picture doesn’t look good. The 176° horizontal and vertical viewing angles make sure everyone in the room has a good view. A 1000:1 contrast ratio and 550cd/m2 brightness rating lets you see the show, no matter what the lighting is. Westinghouse moves into the next phase of displays with style and function, as it has for decades!

Beware of the faulty EDID problem
- Pros: Picture quality at 1080p is outstanding, good number of inputs, great as a computer monitor and a display for PS3/Xbox 360, 1080p upconverting DVD players, Blu-Ray disc players, and HD DVD disc players.
- Cons: A large number of LVM-37w3se's were sent out with faulty EDIDs (memory chips that identify what resolutions and timings the monitor is capable of). This has the potential to render your 1080p devices incapable of outputting 1080p, nullifying the main advantage of this monitor. There's no guarantee you won't get one of these faulty monitors from NewEgg and have to ship it to Westinghouse out of your own pocket to fix it. For more info on the EDID problem Google "LVM-37w3se EDID".
Below average deinterlacer and scaler make this a poor choice for any device that does not send a 1080p signal, such as standard def game consoles, satellite/cable boxes with mixed 480i/720p/1080i outputs, and standard def DVD players. Also only one each of HDMI and DVI inputs, and no optical/digital audio out.
- Other Thoughts: Great value for 1080p sources, mediocre for everything else, and pray you don't get one with a faulty EDID.
Awesome
- Pros: -Alot of Inputs
-Cheapest true 1080P you can buy -Great picture -Funtions as PC monitor and HDTV flawlessly.
- Cons: -Remotes signal is weak (infrared)
- Other Thoughts: I have owned this monitor for 1 full year as of next week. I use 50% as computer monitor, and 50% as an HD TV. I absolutely am in love with it. You need a deep desk to own this monitor, I sit about 3-4 feet away. I can play any game at 1920x1080 and it is absolute heaven. Buy the 5 year warranty. I bought a Warrantech 5 year plan for $150.

Great monitor for computer
- Pros: Absolutely stunning picture, I moved from a 22inch LG to this monster and the picture quality remained the same (if not got a little bit better). Beautiful for WOW, Fallout 3 and NHL 09.
- Cons: Xbox 360 picture is a tiny bit fuzzy but its connected with components, not hdmi. I do notice a little bit of tearing not enough to be annoying just once in a while you notice it.
- Other Thoughts: I placed my order Tues evening, monitor left from NJ the following day and arrived in Chicago Thurs night and was delivered Fri morning. Box had a few nice dings but the monitor was unscathed. Plugged it in changed my resolution to 1920 x 1080 and was truly impressed with the quality of the picture. has all the features you could ask for. I had decided to go with this over a 26 inch LG monitor despite the horror stories I have read here, I'm very happy I did this really is worth the money if your going to use it as a computer monitor. A strange note the included remote has to be in front of the monitor to work but without programing the remote works with my 32" sony TV and it does not have to be directly in front of it.
Worst Company Ever
- Pros: Cheap
dvi input
- Cons: Everything besides the price
- Other Thoughts: I got this very monitor. It died on me in about 3 and a half months so I could not return it to the store. I contacted westinghouse customer support since it was under warranty. I had to pay for shipping to ship the television to westinghouse. Customer service gave me the run around for months when I called to inquire about the status telling me they had to send a request for an update to another department and would call me or send me an email. They never contacted me I always had to call them. One time I called they said it would ship soon. I called back a few weeks later and they said they need to send a request to another department again. Long story short I never got my replacement, until I contacted the coporate office. They upgraded my monitor to a 42 inch my troubles. I got it that monitor broke too. I got another one and that broke. Basically I am on my 6th monitor which is now a 47 inch which has been broken for over a month now, I am still trying to get it replace
Awesome Monitor for PC or TV!
- Pros: Crystal clear picture, vivid colors, dark blacks, and a gorgeous HD picture! Whenever the kids bring friends over and they see me playing games or working on it, they can't stop talking about how awesome it is. After 2 years of use with windows, still no burn in :)
- Cons: The ONLY one...very bright, even with backlight set to lowest setting. I sit about 5 feet away, leaning back in my chair usually.
- Other Thoughts: I've had this monitor for a couple of years. I bought it at a military store the day after Thanksgiving 2 years ago (for this same price after a 200.00 rebate). I play UT3, UT2, GRAW, WoW, Call of Duty 4, and many other games on this monitor. It doesn't have any ghosting that I've noticed and the picture is absolutely stunning. I'm powering it with a BFG 7950x2 SLI Card at 1920x1080 resolution. When I do work on it, I can have 3 pages of a document open at once, or a huge amount of spreadsheet cells showing. Looks great with Vista as well. If you're an I.T. guy like me, have management buy a couple of these for your office. You can have several remote desktops available at once. It's also great for a NOC.
