1 out of 5 eggsNot a good rice cooker

Pros: Nothing.

Cons: It didn't work for me.

Other Thoughts: I bought it in June 2014 for the first time. after using it for 4-5times it stopped working. I contacted Newegg about the problem and they asked me to contact the manufacturer. when I contacted the manufacturer and the customer service representative told that I need to pay the return shipping to repair/replace the item. I kept quite for few months and I mailed some big shots in the company and after exchanging few mails and information, they sent me a new rice cooker. Unfortunately it worked only for two times and stopped working. I still have a chance to contact them as it is still under warranty. I am feeling embaraced to complain about the same thing again and again so I didn't contact them till now. finally I want to say that it didn't work for me not once but twice. I strongly advise to think twice before you buy this item.

3 out of 5 eggsNOT a twin of the National brand!!

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Cheap

Other Thoughts: This is a review to counter the bad information in the "Edward L" review submitted on 1/21/2015 3:25:34 AM. I do not own this rice cooker yet, but am considering purchasing one while it's on sale. But I do have important information to help others decide if they want to buy this.

National is one of the brand names of Panasonic, who is based in Japan and is a quality manufacturer.

Tatung is a ENTIRELY separate company that's based out of the Taiwan and while they generally produce better products than a similar China based company would, they are NOT up to the standards of a Japanese based company like Panasonic!

Note that both Panasonic/National and Tatung have China based manufacturing plants, but their standards are higher than the local companies in that area and they both product good products as a result.

But the difference in quality is like a Ford Fiesta (Tatung) vs. a Lexus ES 350 (Panasonic/National)! Both good cars, but I would prefer the low end Lexus over the low end Ford any day!

"Edward L" is reviewing the National brand rice cooker because it looks like the one in the picture. So his review is actually NOT on the Tatung rice cooker, AS IT SHOULD BE, but on the National one which would cost 2 to 3 times more (similar to the Fiesta vs the ES 330).

It's important to the potential buyer to understand that if they purchase this rice cooker, the will get the lower quality Tatung cooker and not the one that'll last ten years from National!

5 out of 5 eggsTwin of National brand cooker

Pros: From the photos this is in every way a twin to my National brand rice cooker that I bought from Williams-Sonoma over 20 years ago. Mine still functions fine. Has never made a bad pot of rice. My best luck with any appliance in 60 years of being a consumer.

Cons: The non-stick surface of the inner pot eventually wears off. But, you have to remember that I have had this over 20 years.

Other Thoughts: The ONLY thing I would change about this rice maker is the non-stick inner surface of the internal rice pot.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor quality

Pros: reasonable priced

Cons: Poor quality. I used it for about 3 times, and it burned the rice at the 3rd time, and now the power does not come up again...dead..

Other Thoughts: would rather it DOA, so I can return it or get a replacement. Unfortunately it burned out right after the 30 days period

2 out of 5 eggsWill cook the rice, but that's about it!

Pros: It cooks, that's about it.

Cons: Considering that I am Asian and use a rice cooker every day, this rice cooker is not very good. It will cook your rice, but you must unplug it right away! You cannot keep your cooked rice in the "keep warm" option. It till burn all your rice on the bottom making it turn hard and brown. Also, it comes with a 3/4 cup measuring cup and not a 1 cup measuring cup. I thought that was kind of weird.

1 out of 5 eggsDifficult to Clean

Pros: Inexpensive, basic rice cooker.

Cons: The inner lid can not be removed for cleaning. Very poor design. If I didn't only paid $19.99 I would return it.
