2 out of 5 eggsSlow...

Pros: Lots more options than our older Zojirushi rice cooker. Menu choices for brown rice and so forth.

Cons: Exceedingly slow. about 50% slower than our previous high-end Zojirushi neuro-fuzzy.

Other Thoughts: Love rice cookers, and in general this vendor, but while this is supposed to be their top-of-the-line unit, and uses pressure which should speed cooking, the time to cook is abysmally slow.

5 out of 5 eggsBest rice cooker ever

Pros: Perfect rice every time. Easy operation and good esthetic appeal. The main strength is in the GABA brown setting and the way it can make brown rice taste pretty good. Best cooker I have used for brown rice yet. White rice is very nice with three different settings depending on how you like it. Good timer feature allows you to set when you want your rice to be finished, so you can set it in the morning and come home to fresh cooked rice.

Cons: Very pricey. Not sure how much energy you can save per year since it is induction vs. coil heating. I guess you can't really put a price on the health benefits of eating brown rice. Not worth the money if you are ONLY going to eat white rice. Other cookers can do good white rice for less price.

Other Thoughts: The other fellow who reviewed this cooker here doesn't give this cooker a fair review. The other cookers that are lower end on here from Zojirushi should not get higher ratings. I have owned them before and they do NOT touch this one in quality and even-ness of cooking the rice. The induction cooking and pressure-cooking combination seems to be the key that makes this cooker worthy.

3 out of 5 eggsNot better than cheaper induction models.

Pros: No raw or burned rice, but you can expect that from any lower-end model.
The heating area of the machine is easier to clean since there's no holes for bits of rice to fall into.

Cons: - A 3-piece steam vent has to be washed alongside the - usual inner lid and cooking bowl.
- The cooking bowl doesn't have helper handles to allow a person to lift it out easily.
- No noticeable difference in the rice itself.

Other Thoughts: Zojirushi's GABA Brown cycle isn't as effective as germinating the brown rice outside of the rice cooker.
To germinate brown rice, it has to absorb water for 12 hours, then be drained and kept moist for another 12 to 24. Zojirushi's GABA Brown cycle only does 2 hours of soaking. Do the math.
