5 out of 5 eggsGame changer

Pros: Induction cooking is awesome!
My first test was an egg, I heated the oil way to hot because thing gets hot ridiculously fast, and the egg cooked in like 45 seconds, it cooked so differently than my coil heaters that the texture was unlike any egg I'd ever made before, it was delicious and awesome!! and fast, so fast I didn't have to shred cheese while cooking.

Cons: No more long cook times to shred cheese.

Other Thoughts: This review is really for induction cook tops in general, I can't compare to any other induction cook tops since this is the only one I've ever used.

5 out of 5 eggsLove It, Best Cooktop Ever!

Pros: Works Great, NO problems at all, heats SO fast. Easy controls.
Well worth the money -- Great Value!

Cons: pan that comes with it is a little flimsy-though the glass lid DOES have a nice fit and seal, and there is a slight fan noise that might bother some people - but I really do not see [hear ;) ] a noise problem

5 out of 5 eggsrewrites physics

Pros: Just amazing. As Joseph A. pointed out in his review this product sets a new standard by boiling water to 215 degrees.

Just wow.

Cons: No flux capacitor.

5 out of 5 eggsI like it

Pros: It doesn't heat my trailer up the way my gas stove does. It really cooks thing fast.

Cons: I would of liked the temp settings to have been better than fifty degree increments, but I manage just fine anyway.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Purchase

Pros: High power, good build quality, easy to use

Cons: A little loud

Other Thoughts: Purchased this for $49 here, and it's a good deal, even if you choose not to use the included pot. Works great with my cast iron cookware, which heats up significantly faster than on an electric cooktop (seconds vs. minutes). Searing and browning meats is easy with 1800 watts of power. Defaults to 1200 watts on start, which is a good power level for *most* cooking calling for "high" heat. Obviously, controlling temperature with cast iron is a little harder (as would be the case on any cooking surface), but with stainless steel pots/pans, the temperature adjustments result in almost immediate response. It's the next best thing to having a gas stove. This also means that if you use electric cooktops today, your cooking habits have to change, or you'll find that you can easily ruin your food and even your cookware.

Many have commented on the loud fan, and it is noticeable, but not terrible. You can have a normal conversation over it. Are there quieter ones? Sure, but not for under $50, AFAIK.

Note that at 1800 watts, you'll be right up against the max limit of a 15 amp circuit; you should use a 20 Amp outlet if available.

If this will be your first portable induction cooktop, you won't be disappointed.

3 out of 5 eggsThe pot is useless, but the main unit works well

Pros: In general, the product is exactly as detailed in the description. Great Power.

Cons: - When set at low wattage, instead of providing constant low wattage, it actually provides it intermittently to create the effect of low power making heat distribution time uneven
- The unit is little tall compared to other Japanese models I've used in the past
- The pot that it comes with is useless because it's got that industrial chemical/metal smell that just don't come off no matter how much I scrubbed it. Feels like I'm eating metal!!! SO I threw the pot away immediately and bought another one.

5 out of 5 eggsUPDATE Rosewill 1800-Watt Induction Cooker

Pros: I have been using the Rosewill 1800-Watt Induction Cooker for over a month now and enjoy cooking on it even more. Cooking on an induction cooker has a learning curve. Some have stated that it discolors the stainless pot. Some have said it gets really hot. The clue to these problems are discolors and really hot. The two controls that correct this problem are temperature and timer.

If I want to heat up a cup of coffee, 1000 watts and set the TIMER for 2 minutes.

I use the 500 watt setting at start-up for 2 – 3 minutes then usually switch to the 300 watt setting, and set the TIMER for 5 – 12 minutes (depending on what I'm cooking). This setting works great for frying or sautéing eggs, burgers and fish.

I make chicken soup in a 16 quart kettle filled with 8 quarts of water. Set the TIMER for 15 – 20 minutes to boil the water at 1600 watts. Throw 3 or 4 leg quarters(usually frozen), veggies and spices set temperature to 1600 watts and TIMER for 10 minutes. Then reset temperature to 500 watts and set TIMER for 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Please note, cooking times will vary depending on weight of cooked items and pots used.

One of the main reasons I wanted the Rosewill 1800-Watt Induction Cooker is the TIMER. My standard GE stove (with no TIMER) burns a lot of food and pots.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The price has gone up................

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for hotpot

Pros: Heats fast, great temperature control, easy to clean

Cons: Fan is audible and blows hot air out the back, power cord is short

Other Thoughts: Overall, I am happy with this purchase. I bought this to use as a tabletop cooker for hotpot (very common in Asia). I'm not sure how great it would be for cooking anything else, but for heating up and controlling the temperature of liquids, this thing is great. You can adjust the temperature by 50 degree increments. The reason for taking away an egg is that the power cord is quite short, so to use it on our dining room table, the cord has to stretch to the nearest outlet, which can be troublesome when you need to walk around it. The fan is audible, but NOT LOUD, I'd say it's no worse than your average laptop fan. It does blow out very warm air when running, so try to position the cooker so there is enough space to expel the heat and also keep it from blowing on you. Also, while the cooker seems to be constructed very well, the included pot is quite cheap. The glass cover I received had shards of glass stuck inside the top handle, probably from drilling the hole through the glass. I had to unscrew the handle to remove the pieces before I used it. I wouldn't ever heat this pot on a stove, either, the metal is very thin. It's perfect for the induction cooker, however, so I'm okay with it.

2 out of 5 eggsWould have preferred something else

Pros: good selection for both temp or wattage ranges, very sleek design, easy to clean surface thanks to how smooth it is.

Cons: Okay, admittedly I've only used this to cook burgers on, but the way the induction works, to have it actually heat the pan quickly has caused my pans to bloom fairly quickly. ie: they have started to have a bluish/black discoloring from being used with this induction plate. It's possible that Thicker Pots/pans would not experience this, but still be cautious. This issue is especially apparent with the Pot that is included.

Other Thoughts: Look elsewhere, this particular induction plate looks nice, but it's way to easy to watch thin pans glow and likely have to replace way sooner than you should have to consider if cooking pan items, soups and other mixes that include noodles you might be okay using as it would more easily distribute the heat being generated.
