Rating + 5 its a KUMA

Pros: AMD, cheap, woks fine for a dual core

Cons: non, is as advertised

Other Thoughts: other thoughts huh ...well ok then...my EX wants to marry me still..huh she's crazy BTW..so I moved far away from her.....has there ever been a complaint filed by a man that a female is stalking them???

Really what did you expect, the phrase 'other thoughts' that was a door that was left open...

Rating + 5 It Is Awesome!

Pros: Cheap, Fast, overclockable, big caches for a dual-core. just great. running relatively cool at idle (30 C).

Cons: you will void the warranty if you overclock or if you use a HSF assembly other than the stock provision... darn it all. also The AMD sticker on the fan provided was waaaayyyy off center. DUH!

Other Thoughts: I put it in, turned the computer on and kaboom! way better than my P4 HT 3.06 ghz. Hp that I had been using. plays crysis great with no hitches at all. plus, no v. core change at all, just changed the mutiplier to 14 from 13.5 and boom! gain 200mhz clock speed instantly! i'm excited to see what it'll do next.

My build: ( the basic idea )

AMD Kuma 7750
4gb gskill ddr2 1066
XFX ati radeon 4850
xp home 32bit ( for now )

Rating + 4 performance is higher then listed so its a great buy!

Pros: It is a very high performing chip it loads my WinXp home so fast its not even funny and that I like very much. Many revies saying this chip will walk all over the Athlon64 X2 6000+ since I don't own that chip I can't comment but i can say its a very quick chip and was cheaper then the 6000+ so don't know what the deal was there.

Cons: check the thermal paste on the CPU cooler before you put it on!!! my paste was still moist but in 2 days it was dry and flaky may be it was old to begin with but I went ahead and replaced the paste which one should do every 6 months in a warm area of the world since the heat from the CPU and the heat from area you live in will dry up the paste very quick, the thermal paste needs to be moist or it wont transfer heat off the CPU which will cause your PC to shut down.

Other Thoughts: This is a good deal with the performance higher then listed I think with the right graphics card & the right motherboard you can move a lot of FPS to your screen when it comes to games :p

Rating + 5 Good processor

Pros: Fast processor for a dual core, managed to unlock the 2 other cores on my motherboard and OC to 3.0 on stock cooler. Amazingly fast on Windows 7 model.

Cons: After 3.0 GHz its a bit unstable, but thats to be expected on stock cooling.

Other Thoughts: Great price v performance ratio.

Rating + 5 Its working fine

Pros: Didn't have any problems w/ install.Stock fan is doing just fine keeping within temp ranges.

Cons: None at this time

Other Thoughts: This is my first build from ground up. Was less complicated than expected. Not heavy into PC's just wanted a custom puter for myself. Cost was lot less expensive DIY as opposed to getting from store or online with what I wanted. Lots of research and reading reviews. Windows experiance puts me at 5.5 for Processor and 5.9 for rest of fields. Which I think is good enough for me.

Pros: great price for speed, black edition, and combo deal

Cons: had to take time out to shave down the cooler for the cpu now it has almost a mirror finish

Other Thoughts: had to lapped the cooler it look like it was just milled and put in the box after lapping the cooler my temps dropped and i dont know what some of these people are talking about but this cpu is a great deal

Rating + 5 Great CPU

Pros: Great, cheap cpu. Free UPS shipping. Easily does 3GHz without complaining, even handled a little undervolting (I got the 1.325v model... I dropped the voltage to 1.3 for heat/power consumption's sake and it worked just fine) and still passed through the crucible of stability tests, OCCT Linpack.

Cons: When I ordered this about a week ago the 7850 2.8GHz wasn't there. I go to write a review for this CPU and I see the 7850 staring, laughing at me with its $2 cheaper price tag than what paid for this.

Other Thoughts: Before this I had a Sempron LE-1250 which I overclocked to 3GHz. It was great, for one single app. I couldn't even run windows media player and a video game at the same time. I am hosting a Quake server and even though I wrote a batch file to start it with high priority automatically I wanted to ensure it was as smooth as possible for any players on the server.

Pros: About 10% faster than my Brisbane Dual-Core 2.6 GHz. Overall system performance improvement is 7% - in line with my expectations.

Athlon 64 X2 all come with coolers with a hassle-free lock. I remember coolers I had 3 years ago - cooler locks were a nightmare.

Cons: Not found any.

Rating + 5 Great CPU

Pros: Very nice CPU for the price.

This thing was fast out of the box and even faster about a month later when it was broken in. You can't really go wrong here if you want a very stable, fast machine. Sure you can definitely get faster processors but for the price I doubt you will beat this.

Easily overclocked with stock heat sink to 3.0ghz and 3.2 with 40.00$ fan.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I recommended this to a few friends.. I was very satisfied with mine.

Rating + 5 3.0 @ stock voltage Great Value!

Pros: Unlocked multiplier. 3 year warranty. Great value for the price, good for value / light gaming machines. Mine easily runs at 3.0 GHz without extra volts on the stock cooler and temps are under 55C at load.
Works great with my 1066 DDR2 ram.

Cons: Stock cooler could have been better seeing this is a "Black Edition". You'll need a better cooler to go over 3.0GHz and keep your temps under 60C at load.

Other Thoughts: 1st one arrived with a fan that was DOA. Returned to Newegg for replacement. Newegg was great and paid the shipping for it to get back to them and OVERNIGHTED the replacement!

Combine this with a good mobo and you've got the makings of a great value machine! Not everyone needs super fast & expensive processors.

Rating + 5 No Gamer Here

Pros: I purchased this CPU after reading other reviews. I am happy to say that the reviewers didn't let me down. I do not do any real gaming besides a few internet site games. This CPU is way more than I will probably ever need...but I am glad I am bought it just the same. I didn't buy any of the new grease that a lot of people suggested....the grease on the back of the CPU right out of the box has been enough. No overheating and my computer is 50 times faster than it used to be. Thanks again to Newegg and to the people at Eggspert for their help as well (Cheap Asian Gamer Guy).

Cons: a big fat "0" so far.

Rating + 4 Idles a bit high I think

Pros: Price, free shipping

Cons: Just installed, about to install XP, watching temps in bios,, idling for 15 minutes, system temp is 41C, and CPU temp is 44C, which is 111F, seems a bit high to me.? Is stock fan, maybe will change after I see temps when doing more than just sitting.

I see others seeing temps in the mid 30'sC, so not sure what's up w/that.

Other Thoughts: I had a replacement RMA, and instead of Newegg telling me they didn't sell the 2.9 dual anymore, my refund sat in my bank for a week, then had to order a 2.7 for $5 more after wasting a week!

Rating + 5 David is NooB....

Pros: See Other thoughts......

Cons: See Other thoughts......

Other Thoughts: First of all this chip is not obsolete. Pentium D's and Brisbanes are obsolete. For the price and overclockability you cannot get a better/faster chip. I have this chip unlocked (x4) at 3.3Ghz, meaning i have a fully working quad for 59.99$. Yea now that the AM3 chips are taking over, this chip might be on the backburner but for the price its a steal. I think your ego is overwhelming when it comes to your lack of knowledge.. Looks like your an Intel fanboy from what I see. This chip deserves 5 Eggs not cause of its price alone but for the performance/price/unlockability you just cant find a cheaper/better chip. If you are upset then go ahead and shell out 2 grand for a decent i7 system, but dont go knocking eggs off of a product that is flawless for its price.

Rating + 5 Still Overclocked 3 months later

Pros: This thing is amazing. Overclocked with a Copper AMD Phenom X4 HSF (Friend had got a Phenom and automatically upgraded the HSF- I got it from him for 5 bucks) from 2.7 Ghz to 3.15. no change to Voltage, and it hasn't crashed / BSODed once. Runs at a decent temp, not too cool, but not warm either. Love this thing. Get me a 5.7 Vista rating too.

Cons: Um, the OEM heatsink it came with is the same that came with my AM2 Athlon 64 3500+.

Other Thoughts: Buy it. It benchmarks simply to 150 + dollar Intels, and way overdoes a Celey or a PD anytime at this price.

Pros: Cheap, OC very easy

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Easily clocked this to 3.3ghz on stock HSF, just put another 120mm fan on it. Picked up a Xigmatek SD964, hopefully can aqueeze 3.5ghz out of it. This clocks much easier than my old 9850 BE did.

Rating + 3 Obsolete

Pros: Price, price, price. This processor is dirt cheap (though now with the 7850 there is no reason to buy it) and provides performance hovering a little above the E5400 at a price 25 bucks cheaper, though significantly below the E7400 in performance. If you need a mobo/CPU combo on a budget, this processor (or really the 7850) is for you.

I don't overclock, stock cooling works fine, no compatibility issues. I've heard great things as to the overclockability of this chip, though I prefer to keep the lifespan of my CPU's long. Considering the price, though, it might not be worth playing it safe.

Cons: It's now obsolete in every way, including the new 7850.

95W power consumption, 30W more than any comparable Core2Duo.

65nm process, everything else Intel is down to 45.

Clock is slow. 2.7GHz (or even 2.8GHz for the 7850) is slower than you may think.

AM2+ socket is dead, AM3 came along and this guy is prettimuch an attempt by AMD to displace Intel market share for the home built workstation/media-center/economy PC. If you are TRULY trying to save all the money you can, I guess this does offer really low price points in terms of mobos and RAM you can purchase.

Other Thoughts: It was a good deal at release, but it became obsolete so fast that AMD prettimuch missed the market for this guy because of AM3 and Intel's price drops. While it is an option for those of us still running AM2+ boards, if you have anything AM3, there's no reason you should be buying this CPU. If debating between Intel and AMD for something around this price point, fork out the little extra for the Core2. AMD's timing, as usual, is poor.

Rating + 5 Disable Cool 'n' Quiet = Sweet

Pros: Fast, great price. I can play all current games on high settings and it's quick.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I have had this for a few months now and love it for the price! I was getting slower FPS in Crysis though (paired with a Radeon 4830, 4GB RAM) so I disabled AMD Cool 'n' Quiet and instantly got 10-15 frames more in Crysis. Just thought I'd mention that - if it isn't up to par, try disabling CnQ.

Pros: Cheap, fast, reliable. And its AMD :)

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: There are WAY to many people that put 100% irrelevant info in a REVIEW. (Yes, I suppose this is irrelevant as well, but I suppose that what this "other thoughts" box is for)

Not only that, I don't understand why some people give a product a bad rating based on a customer service issue... its not the products fault.

Likewise its not Newegg's fault if a product is bad or defective. So quit blaming them! Newegg rocks and you know it!

And if its DOA... it happens. Get an RMA and get a new one. Do you really think that if yours doesn't work, then they all suck?

Pros: Runs fast....came with retail fan

Cons: runs hot 125F degrees .. a little too hot right out of the box.
I have build several systems with amd dual processors but they all run much cooler (around 100F)

Other Thoughts: Runs too hot to get 5 egg rating (running hot will shorten the life)
other than that, runs very good and fast
I put it through some pretty hard stress test and it worked like a charm
I would purchase again but probably put a better cooler on it

Pros: - Its inexpensive. I am using mine for a modest gaming build with a GIGABYTE GA-MA770-UD3 AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard & A GeForce 9800.
- Comes already thermal pasted. Some of you may think this is a con but honestly its the part that made me most nervous about building. (Squirt how much goo where now?)

Cons: The instructions could have been better translated.

Other Thoughts: When I started out building computers I did some horrible, horrible things to an AMD chip involving superglue and loose screws. But it kept on going. I'm forever AMD's mark.

Rating + 4 Good Stuff

Pros: What can I say unlocked core. Works better than those bc 4400 and the pentium d. Great price even better because i bought a combo.

Cons: I had two issues first amd boxed this unit with what appeared to be the same heat sink that they have used in the semperon 2700 939. I seems to be stable but i didnt risk ocing over 2.75 . (This is the reason i'm only giving it 4 eggs.) The other issue is that the Newegg Box came in trashed like one of those brown trucks backed over it. But Im not punishing newegg or amd stuff happens and everything worked.

Other Thoughts: I am going to order some artic silver and use an asus heat sink i had ordered for the business class 4400 that was over kill. I didnt go phenome because all i do with my box is play video games and edit movies. I still run xp and quad core ability is questionable plus i had to rebuild my box and had less than 200 bucks so this was a very good deal. I paired it with Crucial Ballistix 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) and an ASUS M3A76-CM AM2+/AM2. i used the case psu and drives from my old build.

Rating + 5 True winner

Pros: -Fast
-Multi core
-Very good overclocker
-Stays cool with proper cooling
-VALUE!
-Reliable
-Extra core(s) can be unlocked (see other thoughts)

Cons: Thankfully there is'nt much to say here. But the only real problem was the first 7750 I recieved that had a missing pin (Why does AMD still use pins??), but newegg's "eggcellent" service I got a replacement in a week!

Other Thoughts: Runs at 3.1 GHz stable with huge heatsink+92mm fan. Also, after tweaking with ASRock's OC tuner, I was able to get speeds up to 3.86 GHz for 5 minutes idle before some really bad stuff started happening (BSoD). If you are wondering, this can easily be clocked to 3.1 by just changinf the multiplier, so if you are new to OC'ing this is a good jump-start. It has a idel temp of 41c at 3.1 but im not sure on full-load because at the time I had no programs to mess-around with. Changing the multiplier to 15.5 will get you the most stablizied performance, any higher won't last long (:P). You can also increase the FSB, but that generates alot of heat, and fast. I will also be getting a liquid cooling system some time in the future (its really hot where I live :P) so hopefully that will do some justice.

FOR MORE CORES!
Unfortunetly I could NOT get this to work due to the improper chipset used (GF8200A). I believe the only was to do this is to use the AMD 790GX chipset on a Biostar mobo.

Rating + 5 Excellent for money

Pros: What else can I write about this bad boy. 59 bucks .. this thing rocks..I mean just rocks. 2mb of L3 cache, and 2.7GHz, there is really no competition for this baby in the price range. Its a great chip for HTPC or general purpose use. I will not recommend it for gaming though. The stock heat sink and conductive compound is decent.

Cons: The only problem is although this being black edition, there is not good scope for OC. Also I noted that when you OC the cool and quiet does not work. In other words, the moment you go above 2.7 GHz, the speed remains same and does not change with load. I would recommend not OC it if you are going to keep it running for long time, except ofcourse for gaming.

Other Thoughts: Great chip for HTPC and general purpose computing. For gaming think Phenon II.

Pros: first off @ 2 cores this cpu rocks
at stock clocks (2.7) it beat my x2 5200+EE (O.C at 3.0ghz 65w 2mb L2 cache) in benches i did
the 2mb L3 cache was why it beat the 5200+
i do alot of Divx rendering and my times with the kuma went from 4-5 hours to 1 1/2 hours !!!! (just that alone wins in my book)
rendering high temps never go above 45c well below the 73c max temps for this cpu

Rating + 5 Excellent budget chip

Pros: Very snappy, easily overclocked, low idling temperature

Cons: low cache compared to intel chips. Also i'm a little bothered by the fact they took a quad core and disabled two

Other Thoughts: low cache but honestly I can't tell the difference between the kuma and my work intel dual core with 3x more cache - benchmarks are about even too, or at least not uneven enough to warrant the price difference imho

Pros: This processor is incredibly fast for not having all 4 cores enabled. It reduced my install time by half for installing my OS.
Easy to put into the computer, easy to install the drivers. I'm really happy with the price. Way to go AMD

Cons: None really, wish it had all four cores?

Pros: Fast, Dual Core, L3 cache, AM2+, Works great and runs cool.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Included fan is not loud and keeps the CPU under 130F even when overclocked to 3.0ghz. Had no issues with install and it worked the first time.

Rating + 5 Good little CPU

Pros: Decently fast, great for HTPC. The provided heatsink/fan is actually pretty quiet, and it keeps the chip relatively cool (31C idle). Gets an 6.2 in Windows 7 index rating.

Cons: It isn't cheaper?

Other Thoughts: I've found that unless you are willing to buy an E7400 or better, it is best to stick with AMD for the time. For the price, this chip is great.

Pros: Comes with heatsink (other black edition listings I've purchased said retail in description but had no heatsinks).
2.7GHz, unlocked multiplier for better overclocking. Lots of cache.

Cons: Sell out way too fast. Not a 45nm/65 watt chip.

Other Thoughts: Bought one of these for my wife's computer, as well as my mother-in-law's and a bench system at work. It's a rock solid chip and takes everything I throw at it.

Pros: There isn't really a reason to get technical about this cpu. It works flawlessly for me. I've overclocked it so far to 3.0ghz no problem at all.

It may be my case, my fans, or my cpu cooler but it idles at about 35 celcius. I'm not sure what you guys are running at but this thing was cooler than I thought it would be.

Lapping it may lower that temperature also!!

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: It works great for me. If you want a great performing cheap priced processor, go with this 2.7ghz kuma. You will not be dissatisfied.

Pros: Well i just biult my first rig. I am suprised that everything went together as planned and i have not had any problems. This processor is the base of a music recording rig and it does its job very well. Its fast and does what i want it to do. As far as a product, It does what its rated to do.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I am using the 2.7 BE Kuma with an asus M3N78-VM, Gskill 1066 (the light blue ones) Seagate hard drives, and an lg burner. Fast cpu, granted all i use it for is recording music. No GPU. Using the onboard.

Rating + 5 Outstanding Workhorse Value

Pros: $60 shipped. I dont do any extreme multi tasking but this CPU handles whatever I throw at it with ease. It easily plays songs on iTunes, runs Firefox with 3 tabs open and run a virus scan without much more than 50% usage. I have mine overclocked to 2.84 using the EZ Overclock feature on my Asrock mobo running the stock cooler.

Cons: Probably wont future proof my rig for much more than a year or two but at $60 shipped, this is more than worth the money and simply cant be beat.

Other Thoughts: As I mentioned, so far this chip has handled anything Ive thrown at it with ease so Im very satisfied. If you need a workorse CPU on an average budget, youd be hard pressed to get this one. Forget the 7850 as the only difference is a higher multiplyer. This will handle 2.84 with stock cooling all day long and Ive read of several getting it to 3.0 with no problems. Highly recommended.

Rating + 5 Good stuff

Pros: It runs fast, booted up at the intended speeds. The heatsink was easy to install. I used to be an AMD man when the Athlon XPs were king. Then I went Intel with a q6600 for my last pc. the AM2+ mounting bracket is amazing! It was so easy to install. It took me one glance at the instructions, and about 30 seconds to install. So much easier than the nonsense pushpins lga775 uses. This is definitely an unlocked cpu. The multiplier goes up to like 31.5 or something rediculous. If you had the cooling this thing will let you go up to like 10 GHz theoretically. I wish unlocked intels didn't cost as much as the eyes of your first born.

Cons: A little hot. It got up to about 65 after 10 minutes in prime 95 at stock. I attribute this partly to using an Antec Minuet 350 small form factor uATX case. The airflow is the greatest in it I don't think. Also, the stock heatsink seems like a piece of garbage. It works, but not well. The bottom was not very flat or polished. Seemed like a worse quality hs than the stock intel ones. If you are going to be doing any processor intensive work, gaming, video encoding etc, get yourself a new heatsink. You probably got this to oc anyway since it's unlocked. Also, I used Arctic Silver 5. The preapplied pad was huge and thick. Way too much on there, but that's pretty typical.

Other Thoughts: It's noticeably slower than my q6600, but it's to be expected. This costs less than half as much. Also, I am pretty experienced in ocing intels, but amd bios and features are pretty drastically different, so I wasn't really able to optimize the ram speeds and everything else. I just let the bios do it's thing. It's fine though, this is a new comp for my mom, who was been using a dell dimension from 1998. It has a 350 MHz Pentium III with 256 megs ram running XP. So just about anything will be amazing for her.

Pros: Overclocks well. Why would you buy Intel when AMD makes excellent CPUs for way less??? Stop buying Intel!

Cons: I am usually satisfied with stock heatsinks, but this one is extremely loud. I mean it's like my computer should have been taking off for flight. Replaced with a low-end aftermarket and it's all good.

Other Thoughts: Again, AMD CPUs are more than good enough. Save your money for the other components.

Rating + 4 Amazing value for the money

Pros: Feel's like theft. Its a ton of performance when you consider the small price of admission. For a budget conscious customer, I consider this the baseline chip, its an amazing value, but its also enough computing power for 90% of users.

Cons: Not as good as then new 45nm dual core chips AMD released, but those start at around $100, so you get everything you pay for. If you have the cash, consider going with the 45nm Phenom II based chips for superior performance with lower temperatures and far superior overclocking headroom. If money is tight though, the 7750 gives you everything you pay for and more.

Rating + 5 Sweet

Pros: This was for a build for a wife's friend to replace their aging old Compaq. This came off of one of the builds on Anandtech or Tom's hardware and I'm very pleased with how it performs. So are the new owner's. Especially their kids who love to play games. This was securely packaged and the cooling fan (AMD) that came with it seemed to be pretty adaquete since the case has two 120 mm fans.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The build was a Gigabyte Triton 180 Mid-tower case, ASRock A790GXH motherboard, AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 Kuma processor, OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 by 2 GB) memory, BFG Tech LS-550 550 Watt PSU. I kept their old IDE hard drive which had XP Home edition on it to keep their costs down. Later, I'll stick a nice ATI Radeon 4880 or 4770 (if I can find it) to provide them better graphics.

Pros: Fast, Upgraded from an athlon 2800+. This thing is equivalent to what you would pay $150 for from Intel. Duel core is plenty in my mind most games aren't coded to use more then 2 cores. This CPU won't hold you back on any games. with a $60 price tag this thing is awesome.

Cons: Stock cooler is meh.

Other Thoughts: Motherboard I bought with it won't overclock with current bios but once I flash those I will try to overclock this bad boy.

Rating + 4 Update 3, the new heatsink

Pros: Well. the included heat sink from amd is a pile of crud. after replacing the unit with the copper heat pipe unit the temps dropped 10c idle and 11c under load.

Cons: after removing the heat sink i noticed a darker spot of paste than the rest. on that suspicion i bought some 400 grit sandpaper and lightly dragged the boxed cooler than came with the cpu acrossed it.

sure enought the amd heat sink was BADLY bulged. the dang thing even wobbles on my desk.

not fully amd's fault.... but really cruddy.

Other Thoughts: you should be able to trust the cpu vendor to include a workable heat sink. guess not ....

Rating + 3 Runs too hot for its own good

Pros: ...it's fast for the price.

Cons: Runs hotter than my Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 125W at stock settings. I've tested it on various systems using different cases, heatsinks, fans, thermal solution, etc. I know all this because I went through the process of determining that my CPU was bad. It was -at 64 degrees Celcius it would shut off. I got it RMA'd and the new one runs just as hot, but hasn't shut off on me yet. I don't dare overclock it, which I think defeats one of it's main purposes.

Other Thoughts: AMD's website is a complete joke. Their warranty instructions tell you to go to their site to file a warranty claim. However, this model of CPU isn't even listed as an option to file a warranty. In fact, their whole online account system is bogus. I finally got in contact with a good rep who pushed everything through for me and was able to get my new CPU shipped. I didn't even have to pay for shipping the old one back :)

Pros: I have a Gigabyte AM2 Mobo (GA-M61SME-S2 rev 2.0) & I want to upgrade parts in it, what I am mainly concerned about are the VC & CPU compatibility.
I want to install a GTS 250 & the Athlon 64x2 6400+ or the Athlon 64x2 7750 which is a AM2+,
I have already upgraded fans & psu both high end to handle new parts but I have been researching My like crazy to find out if the mobo will allow these upgrades to run smoothly any expeerts on the case?

If all is good Ill have further questions about the mobo after all is complete.

BTW My current VS & CPU are the 8600GT & the 3800+. Meh

Cons: I DO NOT own Card I just had to select so I could post
Rated well because Im not going to diss & try & reduce sales.

Rating + 5 Amazing job, AMD!

Pros: Aside from the L3 cache this thing has, as opposed to none at all in the Brisbane series, this thing is a lot more potent clock-for-clock than Brisbane. This is all thanks to the K10 architecture. This 2.7 GHz K10 CPU is noticeably faster than my old 2.9 GHz K8 based Brisbane. It's also not a terrible overclocker. I managed 3.04 GHz on stock voltage. This thing runs everything I've thrown at it perfectly, including Crysis.

Cons: My only complaint is that this thing uses 95 watts of power. Its only 30 watts more than the brisbane, but if you have a low wattage PSU like I do (430w), every watt counts, but for 60 bucks, I'm not complaining.

Other Thoughts: As far as gaming goes, I highly recommend this CPU. Modern games rely more on video card performance, rather than CPU power. The human eye sees at 21 frames per second, and when a game is above 30 or so fps, you won't notice a difference between this CPU, and an Intel CPU of the same speed, except for the extra hundred bucks in your wallet which you can invest in a more powerful video card. :-)

Pros: Still runs like a champ, overclocked to 3.2ghz now on stock voltage.

Cons: had to replace the heatsink and fan. the molex 80mm fan was a nice swap to bring down the noise, but i wanted my cake and to eat it.

after overclocking to 3.2ghz it sits at 41c idle and hits 58c under load. i did not feel comfortable since the thermal tolerance is 73c and i have no idea how this motherboard is reporting the temp. so i bought a full copper unit for under 30$. since the cpu/memory and mobo were free i dod not feel bad paying for the new heatsink and still keeping things quite on the wife front ;)

Other Thoughts: the newly released Athlon II 250 would be a better buy in the near future. to bad it was not out at the time of my secret work bonus. i would in the future recommend the Athlon 250 over the kuma as long as it supports amd-v (which i have not yet confirmed)

Pros: -price/performance
-unlocked
-L3 cache makes it better than all the other brisbane's (5600, 6000, 6400, etc)

Cons: performance/power
gets KINDA warm on stock cooler

Other Thoughts: if you are going with AMD dual core the 7550, 7750, and 7850 are the best choices for gaming

the 4850e, 5050e, etc processors give better performance/power

the brisbanes are outdated, generally more expensive and usually don't come with a cooler

overclocks easily but i can only get it to 3.1 stable
MB: jetway JHA07
Ram: kingston 2gb 1066 (running at 800 for better stability)
GPU: xfx 4850 1gb

the intel e5200 is priced the same as the 7850 here are the dif's between them:
-5200 is a better overclocker, (locked multiplier though)
-5200 comes with crappier cooler
-5200 has no L3 but more 2 MB L2
-5200 is stock at 2.5 GHz -->worse performance in most cases
-MB's for intel are generally more expensive
-5200 is more efficient

Pros: This CPU blows away the Pentium D 820 I upgraded from and does perfect in every game I throw at it. Also on the stock heatsink and fan I can hit 3.1ghz. I also like how easy the Fan and heatsink went on, put it in the socket and flip the tab down, done. Much more easy to put on then the stock intel fans and heatsink.

Cons: The only con I can think of is the stock heatsink and fan is very cheap and does not cool the CPU very well. Oh, also, the on-board video tends to over heat very fast.

Other Thoughts: This goes great with my Nvidia GTS 250 video card and 4gigs of Corsair DDR2 800mhz gaming memory.

I have this set up on the ASRock K10N78M and this CPU does great.

Rating + 5 i felt like i robbed newegg

Pros: performance at this price is obscene ,nice updated features ,surprisingly good performance in games ,i had a 5000 black x2 at 3.1 and i think it bottlenecked my 8800 gt,with the 7750 x2 at stock and especially when oced the card seems to be at full speed very nice improvement ,as far as everything else ok. ram runs at full speed even though it has an uneven multiplier, mine runs at 800 mhz even with this 7750, with the 5000 black x2 it runs at 776 or something

Cons: stupid heatsink fan , very picky oc ,

Other Thoughts: sunbeam transformer case asus m2n sli deluxe mobo 4 gigs ocz reaper 6400 ram 320 gb western digital hd bfgtech 8800gt oced like mad with zalman cooler ocz 600 watt psu amd x2 7750 oced 3.0 arctic cooler 64 fan and heatsink windows 64 crt 16 inch com.paq monitor haha

Rating + 2 it's cheap for a reason

Pros: Decent speed for buck when not clock throttling

Cons: Runs very hot, even @ idle

Other Thoughts: I have this paired with an Asus M4A78-EM MB, and with the little asus power management utility this either runs with the fan wide open @ 78C or stutters its way through CD ripping while playing music in the background. Pay the extra thity bucks for a 3.0 GHz 65 W Athlon II X2 250 instead of this 95W 2.7 GHz waste of power when newegg comes down to (or hopefully below) the suggested retail price on the A II X2 250.

Rating + 5 Cheap power

Pros: Comes with a heat sink and fan. Pre-installed thermal grease pad on the heat sink. Installed it in a new build for home use and it powered right up first time and has been runing problem free. Works great for running multiple applications, streaming HD (1080p) video online, 5.1 DVDs, and my 32 track recording studio. Not a gamer so I can't adress OC.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: config:

Rating + 5 Cheap, Supports amd-v, overclocks well

Pros: after replacing my aged 3.4ghz p4 prescott my vmwares and my log file reporting suddenly improved by leaps and bounds. my co-workers now hate me as my work index has gone way up now that i can run 2 or more reports at once, and tinker with 2 vms. its a solid cpu, and for the 60$ you CANNOT find any dual core intel chips that accelerate vmware which is the #1 reason i bought it. i dual boot to windows 7 for non-work activities and can say win7 flies very well with this happy little cpu.

bottom line, 60$, vmware acceleration, jealous co-workers, my job much easier, great multi-threaded support = win.

Cons: Factory fan is louder than heck, and its got its own thermal couple. despite setting the fan control on the mobo the fan spins up at 40c and actually vibrates my case. i replaced it with a 80mm powered by a molex. much better.

it is the older die process so it is a 95 watt cpu. despite what some motherboard manufactures say be wary of cheap boards with light power filtering. you may see some pwm reboots.

its slower than intel cpus of the same speed, but i knew this and am ok with it. just know that this cpu in comparison is about the same speed as a 2.5ghz intel dual core cpu

Other Thoughts: Bought this secretly replace my workstation in my office. I do support for Corporate clients and some of my work is done on vmware, and a lot of large file sorting, searching and log file analysis.

Rating + 5 Great buy vs bucks

Pros: This processor offers good performance for low dollars. The 3rd level cache gives a noticeable difference in every day use over the 64 X2 with only level 2 cache. In programs like photoshop it will cut load time significantly. My wife edits 100's of pictures each day. She went from a 5000+ to this processor, with no other changes, and photo editing time is down 20 to 30 percent.

Cons: The fan spins extremely fast and causes some vibration. The fan is attached to the housing with plastic tabs, and vibrates loose and starts to rattle a bit. I used some screws from an old unit and it quieted up significantly.

Other Thoughts: Very good buy. I recommend buying an after market fan for noise reduction and additional cooling.

Rating + 5 Great Value

Pros: Quick. Doesn't choke; I don't think I've had 100% CPU utilization yet.

Plays Full HD (1800p) with no difficulty. Ripping audio CDs, transcoding is fast.

Under seventy bucks (I think the price has actually gone up since I bought mine) for performance that the average user will rarely, if ever, fully utilize anytime soon.

Runs cool enough with stock cooler. Granted I am pretty much idling now, but temps are not much above ambient (31ºC outside, windows open, Speedfan reports 36ºC on the CPU). I'm sure I could apply some Arctic Silver and a new cooler, but no need right now.

Cons: Not free.

Other Thoughts: Plugged into a Gigabyte MA78GM-US2H board with 2GB G-Skill 1066 memory.

It's amazing how much of an increase in performance that two hundred bucks will give to a person with an old P4 @2.66GHz.

Rating + 4 When is someone going to...

Pros: Nice inexpensive fast dual core. Can be overclocked.

I'll be really impressed when....

Cons: ....someone figures out how to consistently unlock the two "hidden" cores. It seems these are downgraded Quads.

Other Thoughts: ...now that would be cool. And I would gladly add the fifth egg. ;}

Rating + 5 Solid, but not great

Pros: K10 Architecture, L3 Cache, Dual Core,Unlocked multi,60 Bucks with a stock heatsink and fan.

Cons: Runs Hot, Not a great overclocker, basically a Phenom I with 2 cores instead of 3 or 4.

Other Thoughts: I had a BE-2400 which is very similiar to the 4050e that newegg is selling for 34 dollars which is just as good as this chip overclocked. It also runs alot cooler at 45w compared to the 95w 7750.

Don't get me wrong I like this chip, but the performance difference between this and a K8 Brisbane isn't really that big considering how hot the 7750 can get . If your on a super uber budget, just get a 4050e and overclock it, its cheaper and runs alot cooler.

The 720 is the best bang for the buck right now from AMD, so get that.

Rating + 5 Best Dual Core out

Pros: Smokes my COusins wolfdale e5400...we have the same setup, i have a xigmatek cooler, he has a zalman cooler..my setup idles at 28C @ 3.4ghz and is memtest stable with videos and pics to prove it..his is overclocked to 3.4ghz and his idles around 40C, he has a gts250, i have a radeon 4850, we both have 1066 ram...and i got 12,500 marks, he got 11,500 marks on 3dmark06...i guess when there are 2 pcs sitting together and thier competition chips...you see who comes out ahead

Cons: no cons for me..this is the best dual core chip ive ever used, and i will keep using dual cores until games finally utilize Quad cores...even tho i am a graphic designer, im more of a gamer, so there is no point

Other Thoughts: lol an AMD 7750 kuma/ati setup smoked a wolfdale e5400/nvidia setup which is supposed to be the dream dual core cpu out today and the best GPU for your budget...

i saved almost $200 and came out WAY ahead...go AMD!

and no im not an AMD fan boy...my pockets just arent that deep...ya dig?

Pros: i am doing a updated review now that i've had this thing for 3 months and have found no problems with it but i would recommend a after market cooling fan though because when i play crysis on high it tends to reach the 50 celcius mark but i guess that's good but if your like me and don't like to hit that stress mark and want your computer to perform a long time with little problems then i would advise a better fan. Thanks amd for another great product ;)

Cons: none after 3 months :)

Rating + 5 Fast and inexpensive!

Pros: Seemless installation, runs smoothly at standard settings. Would recomend this processor to anyone trying to build on a budget.

Cons: At a $60 price tag how could there be?

Other Thoughts: Running COD-5, WAW on highest settings with no problems. CPU cooler cheap, but to be expected at this price. Built my sons entire computer with this processor for $400. Barely slower than my $1000 build using the Wolfdale 8400 3.0ghz Intel processor. Boy did I throw my money away, bummer :(

Rating + 5 Thanks NewEgg and AMD!

Pros: Built a budget gaming PC with this great chip. Unlocked multiplier gave me a simple OC to 3.0 GHz and running it's still running sweet. Very good for what you're paying and if you want to give overclocking a go.

Cons: Stock heatsink fan does not perform too well, at least on my chip but I have seen some people still get decent temps with the stock cooler so it may work for you.

Other Thoughts: I heard somewhere on the internet that on a certain motherboard you can "unlock" 2 other cores on this..(Strange eh?)

Anyways, buy this CPU and enjoy it. You won't regret it for what you're paying.

Rating + 5 Price to Performance can not be beat

Pros: For the Price you can not beat these processors. Sure it is not the fastest, but it does perform. It would be very hard to find a processor at this price that can out perform it.

Cons: Same one ever processor has, Stock Fan is effective but a bit loud and not that efficient.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a processor in this price range, buy this one

Pros: Great value and performance--this pulls a 6.1 in the Windows 7 RC performance rating without any overclocking. Runs cool and quietly with the stock fan.

Cons: The two extra cores people have had some luck reactivating don't just activate themselves =)

Rating + 5 Decent processor

Pros: -Quick Processor
-Good Price
-Overclocks somewhat
-Comes with Heatsink (see cons)

Cons: -Puts out much more heat than other comparable models (5400+ BE)
-While included heatsink is nice (why I bought this over another 5400+) it is easily heatsoaked by the processor. With Arctic Silver5 idles at 37deg and can get to 68deg during prime95. I know the heat is getting transferred because the heatsink is HOT, not warm, HOT to the touch when the cpu is loaded. Proves that there is just not enough mass and airflow to effectively shed the heat away from the processor.

Other Thoughts: Is stable at 3.0ghz (13.5x222 didn't try any higher), confirmed with hours of prime and memtest (on a m3a8-em 780g mobo). Synthetic benchmarks show that the difference between my 5400+BE at 3.0ghz and this proc at the same clock is negligible. I do however get a 1000mb/s increase in bandwidth speed in the memory tests with the 7750. Overall a decent processor but if I was do buy again I would get something else for my parents new build. However they will never push this cpu very hard so the heat will never be a problem.

Rating + 5 the little cpu that could

Pros: price to power ratio is great, alot of bang for the buck in this little guy.
stock voltage bump the multi to 15 and you're at 3.0Ghz stable. After that I lost stability maybe a voltage bump would bring it back, but i didn't feel it was important ..... yet.

Cons: heatsink provided it total trash. I had an old AC 7 about that popped in instead.

Other Thoughts: Really a great little cpu. I bought for my new build to hold me over till software catches up with the hardware out. Once more apps are quad ready I'll upgrade, but as of now most people are just wasting money on quads that their software packages can't utilize. Go smart go for a sixty dollar dual and spend the rest getting a solid system.

Rating + 4 Works great.

Pros: Installed without any issues. I haven't tried any OCing yet. Probably won't until I'm sure it will run ok. I have used AMD processors for years and wouldn't change for anything else at this point.

Cons: As stated in other part reviews for this build, my system doesn't seem to be running at full potential. Not sure if it is my current combo that's the problem or what. I just don't think it runs as fast as it should.

Other Thoughts: Still give a thumbs up for this processor. Everything installed without any problems. MoBo picked it up quickly.
Setup: ASRock A780GXE MoBo, 2GB 1066 memory, SATA WD HDD and LG burner. Using onboard video until add-on card arrives.
