Pros:
Best sound ever from FM stereo. Multipath hiss/noise is gone. It's as quiet as a CD. It even sounds slightly better than great-sounding digital cable FM in an A-B comparison.
Good antenna tuning aids with signal strength and noise ratio indicators.
The extra HD sideband stations are a nice addition.
Very pleased with HD and with this unit's performance.
Cons:
Manual left out how to fully operate INFO button. It does not explain how to get to "short press" menu described early on. Chart at end of manual shows both short and long press menus for INFO button.
Unless you are real close to stations, replace the included dipole antenna with a basic rabbit ears antenna you can aim at station towers to fine tune the signal. A "tunable" rabbit ears used for old tuner did not work with this unit -- it prevented HD reception -- probably too much filtering of RF signal going on by antenna.
Overall Review:
Although AM works, receive none in HD -- signal strength indicator shows why -- too far from stations. A friend had same situation with his same HD tuner.
It would have been great if this HD tuner also included internet radio, too. Sangean makes an internet radio tuner. There is likely enough room in the lightweight chassis for both -- plus an espresso maker!
