Does not detect my monitor 10/29/2010
This review is from: SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity (100315L )
Pros:
Nice card, noticeable difference in fps from my GTX 260. Runs very cool, needs only one PCI-E connector. Smaller form factor than typical cards , lightweight as well..
Cons:
Does not detect my monitor's native resolution ! There is no display until Windows Welcome screen is on. I've tried all the ports ( both Dvi and hdmi ) with no luck. I can't change bios settings or even install an OS!!
Even after windows is loaded ( win 7 ) , the max resolution I can get is 1920*1080, not 1920*1200 that my monitor wants. I've done some extensive reading online these two days and there appears to be no fix for this.. Catalyst has NO option to create custom resolutions!!!
No luck with Powerstrip or windows registry hacks either.
My Gtx 260 on the other hand, worked flawlessly at 1920*1200, in both windows and vga mode.
I'm now on a Gtx 465. This one works just fine as well! There really isnt any problem with my monitor or dvi cable!
Overall Review:
I don't know if this issue is caused by Sapphire or ATI but there really isn't any reason why ATI should not allow users to set their own resolutions!
