great watch 06/12/2011
This review is from: Seiko 5 Men's SNKK31 Black Dial Self Winding Automatic Watch
Pros:
I've owned this watch for several months now and it is has become my favorite. I have thin wrists, so the smallish case diameter and offset dial are a godsend. This is the first watch I've owned where the dial doesn't dig in to the back of my hand. The silver and black styling also works for both business and casual attire.
Cons:
The links are attractive but use a Seiko-specific means to attach to each other instead of the typical pins. This means that if you plan on re-sizing it, you either need to take it to a jeweler, buy the specific tool, or have a LOT of patience with a standard watch link kit. I can testify that you can use the traditional mallet and pin to remove the links without marring them, but it will take awhile to get the technique right. Not really a negative egg feature since I'm the weirdo who insisted on doing it himself versus taking it to a jeweler who would probably do it for free, and the use of the "L-bar" does allow the links lock up tight and makes it so you don't have to worry about bending a pin when fiddling with it.
Overall Review:
I was a little worried that the self-winding feature would mean I'd have to wear it all the time or it would stop. Turns out that's not a big deal -- after the first few days of wearing it around, I've never had it stop, even after sitting on the shelf for a day.
