Pros:

Big, and BRIGHT! The stand is quite good. As a matter of fact, it is practically as good as a Neo-Flex VESA stand I purchased seperately for another monitor. It tilts, swivels, and pans very well.

The passive 3D works great for movies. I am not particular about the 3D, so I cannot say its the best or the worse, but it is good enough for me. I personally prefer the light polarized 3D glasses to active shutter glasses. What works in the iMax works great for me at home.

Cons:

Low refresh rate of 60Hz. For use in an office setting, the text is disappointing. It is not as sharp and crisp as I am use to, so this was a real bummer. If you are a writer or spend a lot of time reading, you may want to consider something with a better display. The 3D is nice, but that isn't enough to blind me to poor 2D text performance, which for me is far more important.

Overall Review:

This is a budget entry into the 27" IPS 3D world. Is you want a huge, affordable, 3D monitor then this is a great choice. However, if you need sharp, crisp text then you may want to look elsewhere, save $100, and buy a much better 2D monitor.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Doomer,

I’m so sorry if you’re not fully satisfied with this monitor. Please try using the Windows 7 “Adjust ClearType text” wizard: Control Panel->All Control Panel Items ->Display ->Adjust ClearType text. This should calibrate how the texts are displayed on your monitor. If you’d like to further discuss this issue with me, please contact me at cl-celeste@asus.com and include ref#1072-6405 in the subject line. I’d be glad to help you out.

Sincerely,
Celeste
