Disappointing 03/16/2013
This review is from: SanDisk Sansa Fuze+ 2.4" Black 8GB MP3 Player SDMX20R-008GK-A57R
Pros:
Good sound quality. Good battery life. Comfortable size. Cheap. Takes Micro-SD cards.
Cons:
Stock firmware is unusably bad: slow, prone to double-hits on the touchpad, and cumbersome. Sansa's official firmware upgrade improves this only a bit, at which point it's STILL unusably bad. Touch panel is atrocious compared to the mechanical wheel from the previous version.
Overall Review:
This is a far inferior product to the earlier Sansa Fuze, with it's tremendously intuitive interface and very nice mechanical scrollwheel that could be used even through gloves.
The thing that keeps this from being a 1 star review is the open-source RockBox firmware. Throw Sansa's firmware out, it's a poor concept poorly implemented. But with RockBox, even though the Fuze+ version is listed as 'unstable', it becomes a decent little device. At least you can manage to navigate through your music list; the stock firmware is really designed under the idea that you have 4 videos you want to watch on the 2" screen, rather than 2500 songs.
