So-so SATA card 08/15/2013
This review is from: SYBA SY-PEX40039 2 Port SATA III PCI-e 2.0 x1 Card
Pros:
Cheap
Easy to install
Comes with a low-profile bracket, if you need that
Cons:
Quite finicky
Overall Review:
This card arrived in an Iocrest box. Whatever. I tried it first in a 1x PCIe slot. It was slower than my mobo on-board SATA (as determined by AS SSD). I decided to try it in a 16x PCIe slot. Well, the card installed just fine in Windows 7 with my SSD booting off the mobo SATA, but when I connected it to boot off the card, it wouldn't boot. I tried a few things and for some reason plugging the SSD into the card Port 0, and a SATA hard drive into Port 1 did the trick. Very finicky.
My SATA III SSD runs at 380MB/s, so just a little bit more than SATA II speeds.
Manufacturer Response:
Dear Customer,
You may be using a PCIe revision 1.0/1.0 slot. In order to reach SATA III 6Gb/s bandwidth, this card requires to be seated into a PCIe revision 2.0 or 3.0 slot.
Also confirm that the correct drivers are installed and not the default microsoft drivers.
