  • 2GB RAM, 16GB Flash Storage
  • 8.3" Full HD IPS (1920x1200) Display
  • Wi-Fi, BT, MicroSD Slot, Dual Camera
  • Android 4.2.2 Upgradeable to Android 4.4(Kit Kat)

Pros:

Nice display that is very sharp obviously with this resolution. It is fast. For me the test was browsing with Google Chrome and it does scream along fine. The LG apps are a little different but add some very interesting functionality.

Build quality is excellent. The tablet is light and is narrow enough to hold it with one hand upside down while reading in bed. Even my wife can grasp the width of it. Not much wider then the Nexus 7 and only slightly taller because of the narrow bezel space.

Cons:

The way LG shipped it in the box is questionable as mentioned in a previous review. The back side on the edges showed some abrasion from riding in the box. The screen was fine but is only protected by the shipping film and a single layer of cardboard.

The LG skin/Q apps are a bit funky to get used to. But there is come really cool features once you get used to it. They do add a bit of flab.

Overall Review:

I looked at several other tablets and almost bought the Nexus 7 2013 to replace a 2012 model that is now having massive slowdown issues. The extra screen on this is a huge improvement over the Nexus 7 (both). For those that hate the LG bling CyanogenMod will address that issue as there is already cm11 available now. Otherwise pony up a few more bucks and get the Google Play edition.

I was able to get this as an open box at an amazingly low price on New Years day. I have not found anything wrong with it other than the light and very small abrasion mark on the back from the shipping box which one must really scrutinize it to find it otherwise the tablet is near perfect. The power supply and cable have not been opened.

I put it in a Voia G Pad case which is the closest I could find to the Asus travel case for the Nexus 7s. Overall it is a fine device and if you can get it on sale it is a really nice tablet that is very build high quality. For those that are used to the Samsung devices the LG skin is more conservative towards raw Android.

It took Newegg a couple extra days as they did mention inventory was taking place over the New Years holiday, otherwise once in the hand of the shipper it arrived in due time.

I really was close to getting another Nexus 7 which are very low cost. But the slow down problem with my 2012 which I have done everything to it sort of made me shy away from the current one. I did put cm10.2 which helped.
