This review is from: Steelseries Apex M500 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with Cherry MX Red Switches and Blue LED
Pros:
The GOOD
+Quality built
+EZ PZ software
+Heavy on the desk, stays put.
+Good color blue LED
+6 ft cable
I am confident that this keyboard could conceivably be the last keyboard you buy if you take care of it. It is very well made from HIGH quality tinsel plastic. Good key travel, and it is precise. I could not detect ghosting, but I am not a professional gamer. I personally like the blue, it is the perfect blue LED color, it is not too bright or annoying. I love that MSI used the second windows key for their key! I liked the software as well, it is simple and easy to program keys and adjust the other keyboard settings. The back lighting of the keyboard levels, and it can be set to pulse.
If you can get this keyboard on sale, go for it. It is a great gaming keyboard!
Cons:
The BAD
-NOISY
-Expensive!
-No extra Macro Keys (higher model)
-Trouble with update
I have been called an “ANGRY TYPER” as I use a lot of force to type. So this keyboard not only annoys me, but others that are around me. If someone else was sitting next to me using one of these keyboards, at a gaming tournament or in an office, lets just say it would drive me insane after about 30 minutes. That is why many eons ago I switched to soft touch keyboards. Also the Apex M800 Steel series is much quieter.
The keyboard would not update during two attempts to do so with the software. Finally on the third try I got it to take on the bios update.
Really think they should have chosen multicolored LEDS for this one!
This keyboard is way overpriced for what it is. If it is truly expensive to build, then MSI needs to drop this keyboard from this line. I would rather buy the next step up, or get the MX800 that is fully programmable with Macro Keys. For functionality, price and customization, I would choose the APEX 64145 keyboard, a clear winner. Honestly, this keyboard should be no more than $65, if they want it to sell.
Overall Review:
Attention NEWEGG, Please fix this horrible system of submitting reviews. I am tired of losing them when submitted. I suspect it is because of the timing out of sign in. It should not CLEAR the fields that a person has worked hard on filling out, when signing back in! GRRRRR.
