Great Case & Corsair Support!

Corsair Obsidian Series 650D (CC650DW-1) Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Mid Tower Case
Corsair Obsidian Series 650D (CC650DW-1) Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: Last night I finished this build and the case was great! Good quality parts and construction, very nice cable management system, sturdy frame! The H100 fits perfectly as does the Radeon 7970! Corsair makes a great product and has good customer/tech support.

Cons: The only thing I would consider is going with the larger full tower if going to run several video cards + several hard drives.

Overall Review: Other than the documentation that comes with the case not even mentioning the fan controller cables for the small control switch on top, this case is awesome and I would recommend it to a friend! Best to wait for a sale so can catch at a good price or in a nice Newegg combo deal.

Ummmm

WD Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
WD Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Was easy to setup and seemed quite fast.

Cons: As of last week, the drive just disconnects for no apparent reason. If I unplug the sata to MB and then plug back in the drive reappears. Drive has been constantly disconnecting all day so pretty soon I would have to rate this product an epic failure. Many others having save issue so I will give WD support a chance.

VERY Clear mids/highs, tight bass you can feel

Corsair Gaming Audio Series SP2500 High-power 2.1 PC Speaker System
Corsair Gaming Audio Series SP2500 High-power 2.1 PC Speaker System

Pros: VERY clear mids and highs for this price point! Replaced my Klipsch 2.1 Promedia that was very old and can could immediately notice the clarity difference in games with sound effects and vocals. The bass is very tight and it's cool how I can feel it since I have the sub under my desk. Best of all, this is using the on-board audio from my Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H, I have not decided which sound card to get ... but can just image how much better it will sound with a nice Asus or Creative!

Cons: At first there was some buzzing and it took minor adjusting and updating drivers/bios. After updates buzzing is gone. The sub box is very big so make sure you check out measurements and have enough room.

Overall Review: This system is WELL worth the $, especially if you can grab a rebate! I will buy this system the day Corsair makes it in a 5.1 version, that is how much I like it.

Awesome!

Polk Audio Monitor Series New Monitor 25C Two-Way Center Channel Loudspeaker (Black) Single
Polk Audio Monitor Series New Monitor 25C Two-Way Center Channel Loudspeaker (Black) Single

Pros: On sale this center channel sounds amazing! Replaced a smaller center channel with this one (make sure to measure your space as this is large) and it makes vocals and speech much louder & clearer!

Cons: None, according to Polk the Egg is an authorized dealer so warranty applies.

Overall Review: I matched my bookshelf Monitor 40s with this center and could not be happier! This is definitely a product I would recommend for the price ($149 or less on sale) from the Egg.

Great for price!

ONKYO TX-NR717 7.2-Channel Home Theater A/V Receiver – Black
ONKYO TX-NR717 7.2-Channel Home Theater A/V Receiver – Black

Pros: Egg had a great price so I pulled the trigger! Sounds great and we have all video passing through it. Very happy with this purchase! Zone 2 sounds great on the patio as well.

Cons: None so far!

Good, but not Great

ASUS VG278HE 27" 1920 x 1080 144 Hz HDMI , D-Sub, Dual-link DVI-D (Support NVIDIA 3D Vision) Built-in Speakers LCD Monitor
ASUS VG278HE 27" 1920 x 1080 144 Hz HDMI , D-Sub, Dual-link DVI-D (Support NVIDIA 3D Vision) Built-in Speakers LCD Monitor

Pros: The speed and frame rate when set to 144hz was awesome! No ghosting and BF3 was smooth and VERY nice.

Cons: The color reproduction was way off, especially in "game" mode. No matter what I tried and read about in support forums and the support site, I could not get the color to my satisfaction and look even close to my other cheaper LCD. In addition, any time the screen was black there was a lot of light bleed along the entire bottom of the screen.

Overall Review: Asus is a great brand and I have many of their other products which I have never had any issues with and love. The combination of a lot of light bleed, colors being WAY off no matter how calibrated, as well as 1920 x 1080 resolution in a 27" screen contributed to an RMA for a refund. A 27" IPS at 2560 x 1440 looks SOOOO much nicer and crisper, just have tolerate a bit of ghosting in FPS games until the IPS panels come in 120hz more consistently (Korean Catleap 2B PCB series). In conclusion, unless you play only FPS games and demand 144hz or 3D (which I don't care for), spend a bit more for an IPS panel with the correct 27" resolution for a crisp picture you will be staring at for potentially hours!
