Love it!
Pros: 2x GB NICs small form factor DC power connector
Cons: Price is a little high for what I am using it for. the DC power connector (I should have researched more before purchasing)
Overall Review: Using this board with a G630T (35W) in a Habey case as a pfSense firewall. I absolutely love this setup. Only complaint was with myself and my lack of research on the power connector. I got luck and had a Dell power brick from a docking station that worked perfectly. Anyone having issues with this board and the Intel NICs on Linux, this is a known bug with an easy fix, search for "e1000e source code" and you will find it, after which the board works flawlessly.
Nice case for the price.
Pros: - 2U mITX case - Price
Cons: - Poor quality control - Missing parts
Overall Review: I had two issues with this case, noted in the "CONS" above: Poor Quality Control (Blue section in pic): Basically they did not account for the lip over the PSU slot. In the current version of this case there is a "lip" of metal running the length of the case and needs to be bent up to fit an ATX PSU in the case. The measurement is off the exact width of the metal lip. Missing Parts (Red section in pic): The case arrived missing the upright 5.25 drive mounts, is impossible to mount an optical drive or anything that uses the 5.25 bays.
Great laptop/poor refurb
Pros: - Laptop worked great on arrival - Decent battery life - 4 stars for the great Newegg, minus one star for having to repair the unit on arrival. Not Neweggs fault.
Cons: - Had to remove Lenovo bloatware - Had to repair poor quality control on the refurb. Whoever reattached the laptops camera cable did so in such a way they bent pins on the connector. Was able to use needlepoint tweezers to repair but obviously Lenovo's QC needs to be QC'd.
Overall Review: - As a refurb the price was spot on however when purchasing a certified refurb one would not expect to have to repair physical damage to get all components working. - Also of note the battery quit charging after 3 weeks and the Certified replacement battery results in an error that it is not a genuine Lenovo battery. - I cannot recommend Lenovo refurb laptops until such time as their QC gets better and they remove the "whitelist" for hardware components from their BIOS.
obviously not a new laptop.
Pros: um...it turned on
Cons: The laptop looked like it had been previously used, fingerprints all over the top and wrist rest. The front channel speakers would not work. all sound came out the sub-woofer and only the sub-woofer. Cannot recommend. Will be calling for RMA in the morning.
Overall Review: Don't waste your time with this one, get the MSI equivalent.
Bad Intel SATA Controller
Pros: price, features, when they all work.
Cons: ASUS quality control on this board is substandard. My board did not throw any error codes and appeared to operate perfectly till you tried to access any device connected to the Intel SATA controller. Any device access on the Intel SATA Controller would result in system instability. Since my programs HDD was attached to this controller they would crash repeatedly without warning. My optical drive would also take 10 minutes to load any program. Moved both to the Marvell Controller and magically they worked fine. RMA'd my board.
Overall Review: 2 stars for the ASUS product due to poor quality control. Wish I could give 5 stars to NewEgg.com independantly as they always go above and beyond to assist their customers.
