Pros: Everything. This board is great, definitely an upgrade from my old P8P67 deluxe. The new fan expert 2 is one of my favorite features. Once I installed the updated version, it worked really well. Overclocks very well. Has more settings for overclocking than my last board.
Cons: The memory performance decresed slightly from my old board at the same timging and same speed, but this will hopefully improve with bios updates. Was getting 19000Mb/sec at 2133MHz on the old board now I get 18000Mb/sec on this one at 2133MHz.
Overall Review: Wish ivy bridge didn't suck at overclocking with its thermal issues, or this board would've been even better with ivy bridge. Hopefully intel's tock will be better than its tick.
Pros: This has been a great motherboard for 5 months, then one day, the computer was dead. The motherboard diagnostic lights indicated a failed CPU. I called Intel on Wednesday, had a new replacement CPU in my hands by Thursday afternoon. Absolutely unbelievable experience.
Cons: Then I put the new CPU in the motherboard, and the same thing occurred- red CPU diagnostic LED, no boot up. I called ASUS on Friday and they had me try a few things which didn't work, so they said I needed to RMA the board. I asked if they had a cross-ship program like Intel since I was so pleased with it, they said yes I should hear back in 24-48 hours. Since their tech support is 7 days I asked if this meant Sunday, the answer was yes. Monday afternoon I hadn't heard anything so I called support, waited a long time to find out 24-48 hours but not on weekends, so I should hear by EOD Tuesday or Wednesday the latest. Wednesday afternoon nothing so I called again, waited a long time to find out 24-48 hours was for the first warehouse check, but they have 2 warehouses. I needed to wait another 24-48 hours to find out if warehouse #2 has it in stock.
Please stop and think- does it take Newegg 24-48 hours to tell you if the motherboard is in stock???
Overall Review: So now it's Friday afternoon and still haven't heard anything. I call AGAIN, wait a long time to find out that no, the second warehouse does not have any in stock. I could do a regular RMA where I mail them the board, they take 7 days to fix it, then they mail it back to me. So basically another 2 weeks. OR I am told, the warehouses get new stock on Mondays, so just call back then and they will tell me if it is in stock. Notice nobody said it will take 24-48 hours this time, just to call back on Monday.
Does it really matter what happens at this point? I'm already down for 1 and a half weeks, and likely much longer. I may not even get the new motherboard by the time my Intel replacement needs to be sent back. And this is for a $300 motherboard, not the cheap bottom of the line board.
So be aware that if the board works great then you will have a great product. If not, better have another computer nearby to use because you will be scr*w3d for a long time. Consider an Intel board.

WOW!!!!4/27/2012 4:45:02 PM
Pros: 1: AI Suite 2
1b: Fan Expert 2
2: Easy UEFI Bios never a dull moment with Asus
3: Tons of fan headers
4: Perfect placement for almost every connector
5: One click OC... And it actually works really well!
6: Tons of indicator lights ( You will never be left in the dark with whats going on, pun intended)
7: Completely digital VRM, means you have total control over your system
8: The IO shield is foam padded and clearly labeled
9: USB 3.0 Boost actually works really well... like 32Gig a second!
10: One click SSD caching
11: many more... Did not even mention the DLNA and WIFI GO!
Cons: 1 and just one: $
Overall Review: Now I have only had it a couple of days but am amassed at how all inclusive and AWESOME this thing is!
Pros: Very stable even when overclocking.
Lots of built in features both on UEFI and AI suite software.
Cons: There is a constant whine coming from the VRM, adjusting my Digi+ settings reduced it to a level that my tower can block but on most settings I can still hear it over all my case fans in my Cosmos II.
The software provides a great variety of features but also acts as bloatware and with all of the AI suite installed theres 10+ processes running.
Only 8 sata ports, not a big deal but with more devices connecting through sata compared to previous builds (CD Drives, Hot Swap Bays) its easy to reach the max.
DIMM slots are very close to CPU, with XIGMATEK Dark Knight II the heatsink nearly touches the first RAM chip. Wide heatsinks may be infeasible.
Drivers are a pain for fresh OS installs, especially the Marvell chipset, be prepared for a rough couple of hours.
Overall Review: Even with the negatives I have experienced the board seems like a solid build. I only removed 1 egg mainly due to the sound from the VRM, if it starts to bleed through the case again I may RMA. After a few days use the mobo is running good, hope it goes the distance.
Pros: Feature-rich
Rock-solid stability
Onboard video works flawlessly
Beautiful on display in case
Drivers and software are stable and cover a ridiculous range of features
Bluetooth module works!
UEFI BIOS is excellent
Onboard audio is excellent
Onboard video in conjunction with discrete video card
Cons: UEFI BIOS can be a little picky about USB connections for using mouse and keyboard. Daisy chained hubs don't work, for instance.
Windows BIOS update options can be a little flaky, staying at processing screens without ever progressing. Luckily, software doesn't actually hang.
Virtu MVP can be a little odd, and sometimes results in jumpy graphics. I uninstalled it after wrongly blaming it for bluescreens, but will likely leave it uninstalled for the time being.
Overall Review: I'm wondering why it took me so long to return to ASUS. This thing is not only feature-rich, but rock solid. When my integrated graphics card had trouble with dual-monitors, I enabled the onboard video and ran the second monitor off the integrated video channel from the Intel processor. It works flawlessly. The included software is pleasing to the eye and works 90% of the time, but it does what it needs to. The onboard audio is better than the discrete solution I ordered, and I'll likely stick with it, and this even though I consider myself an audio snob.
From the moment I first booted the system and entered the BIOS to find that the time was already set correctly, with a full health readout on my system instantly at my fingertips, I knew I had something special. I simply cannot praise this board enough.
Now to try overclocking...
Pros: This MOBO is amazing! I've never built a computer from the ground up before, until last weekend. Once I got my shipment in I Watched the newegg youtube how to videos and slapped this beast in there. No connectivity issues, the UEFI BIOS is simply amazing! I purchased 16GB of G.Skill Ripjaw 2133 Mhz ram and with the easy X.M.P. profile offered by this motherboard I could run the ram at its highest setting with a click of a button. Fan speeds can be turned to the highest perfomance setting with a click of a button even if you have/don't have a fan controller. Must buy a see through side panel case for this MOBO. Extremly cool looking blue LED's on it. Also has the newer PCI 3.0 Express (two slots), which are even spread wide enough to slap two GPU's in crossfire/SLI. Can't say enough, this MOBO made everything pretty simple.
Pros: So many features I don't want to list them all, but here are the ones I like.
- On board WiFi
- LED indicator (helped a lot with debuging problems during build)
- Lots of USB and SATA connectors
- easy to use BIOS
- Build in overclocking
- Dual Ethernet ports
Cons: Needed one more USB header for the front of the case. My case has 4 USB ports (2 headers) and I also wanted to install a SD card reader (another USB header). Also, it doesn't have a firewire header if you are interested in that.
Not sure if this is an issue with the board or the CPU, but it doesn't output to my monitor when I boot up for power off, but if I unplug the HDMI, reboot, and plug it back in, it works. It was really annoying when I was building, I thought I had bad motherboard. Obviously since it works, it is a software issue, so I am not going to take any eggs off for it.
Finally, it is expensive
Overall Review: Good board overall with lots of options. Would definitely recommend it. It is probably the most expensive Z77 board out there right now, but it comes with ASUS support and quality, plus tons of features, so I think it is worth the extra $50.

Pros: I've owned this board ~6mo and in that time have grown to appreciate its built-in WIFI and solid operation under Windows 7 x64.
This board replaced a Z68 Gigabyte board that, while also a good board, was prone to IRST boot, SLI crashing, and standby problems. I have not experienced any crash issues with this ASUS Z77 board.
