Great controller

Adaptec RAID 6405E 2270800-R 6Gb/s SATA/SAS 4 internal ports w/ 128MB cache memory Controller Card, Single
Adaptec RAID 6405E 2270800-R 6Gb/s SATA/SAS 4 internal ports w/ 128MB cache memory Controller Card, Single

Pros: Adaptec reliable Great looking cables (make sure you get the one that comes with cables!) Fits into any PCIe slot The drives attached to the controller are always instantly ready, this small factor makes my whole system run more fluidly. This is also true when accessing the drives over a network, very fluid file access.

Cons: The controller kernel really does add a significant wait to boot times. Though it is worth the wait, it's something for speed freak like me to consider. Apparently all adaptec controllers have long boot times. PCIe 1x caps around 1GB/sec transfer, so this card would max out with four vertex2 drives or two vertex3 drives. I miss out on 250GB with my 3 x 1.5TB drive Raid 1E array because the maximum size is 2TB.

Overall Review: I have this setup with 3 1.5TB hard drives in a Raid 1E and my 120GB Vertex2 SSD as a single volume. My SSD runs faster on the controller and I've seen writes over 200mb/sec transferring from my 1E array to my SSD.

Great looking Heatsink

XIGMATEK ACK-I5363 Intel Core i7/Core i5 1155 compatible Bracket Set
XIGMATEK ACK-I5363 Intel Core i7/Core i5 1155 compatible Bracket Set

Pros: This thing looks amazing. It fits into my nMedia 5000b HTPC case, havn't got into over clocking but my 2500k core i5 idles in the mid 30s. Fantastic for a case with 60mm fans on it.

Cons: I bought this for an lga1155 platform along with the metal crossbow adapter bracket: You need to access the backside of the motherboard to install the crossbow - in some cases you'll need to remove the whole motherboard. However, once installed this heatsink is rock solid - WAY more secure than the plastic mounts on my Freezer 7 Pro Rev2 from Artic cooler.

APC BR700G Back-UPS Pro 700VA 6-outlet Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
APC BR700G Back-UPS Pro 700VA 6-outlet Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

Pros: Aside from the usual UPS features..... the power savings outlets are by far my favorite. This thing has 2 outlets that will shut off when the "master" (the main battery outlet - obviously the computer) powers below the set range (25w default). Fantastic, my stereo reciever and subwoofer arn't left running pointlessly when my computer is off. The other feature that I absolutely love is the LCD read out of the current watts. It really puts it into perspective how much power my computer system/xbox/LCD screens pull off the grid. Over 500w if it's all turned on, YIKE. Having the current wattage displayed in my face helps me minimize usuage. This this will pay for itself in due time.

Cons: Should have bought a bigger UPS. The battery doesn't provide enough time for my setup; when my second display is running (32" samsung LCD) there is not enough battery run time to "hibernate" This would not be a problem if my RAID controller didn't cause such a longgg delay with hibernation.

Overall Review: It took me wayyy too long to justify the cost of a UPS. I have purchased so many computer related devices that just wern't worth the money. For a performance buff like me, A UPS is the kind of thing that you put-off for too long because it's hard to justify the cost. But when you actually use one, you I am thoroughly impressed with APC, their software works flawlessly with my setup.

Not for speed freaks

Adaptec RAID 6405E 2271700-R 6 Gb/s SATA / SAS 4 internal ports w/ 128MB cache memory Controller Card, Kit
Adaptec RAID 6405E 2271700-R 6 Gb/s SATA / SAS 4 internal ports w/ 128MB cache memory Controller Card, Kit

Pros: This is my first RAID card. As the type of user that makes triples of every file, I am vey happy with this overall purcahse. What I do very much enjoy, is the proven - RAID level redundancy that saves the continuous manual labour that is "backing-up a computer". This allows me to take advantage of 6Gb/s with my 3GB/s native motherboard. You can't agrue with Adaptec's RAID software.

Cons: By far, the boot up time: this is why performance enthusiasts should THINK TWICE about RAID 0 as a solution for their un-forefillable need for the BEST possible performance.

Overall Review: I am happy with thisRAID card. I'm glad I bought it, data redundancy is very important to me. PCI-e 1x means cap your through-put spending @ 1GBs but don't dismiss the longer boot times. Adding this card has doubled my previous boot time. The Controller Kerner takes aggessss to boot.

COOLER MASTER Silent Pro M700 RS-700-AMBA-D3 700W ATX12V V2.3 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply
COOLER MASTER Silent Pro M700 RS-700-AMBA-D3 700W ATX12V V2.3 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: Quiet, I have this PSU in a really high end case, the Corsiar 600T and the noise level balances very well with the stock fans. My computer makes a quite hummm but temperatures are verry low. I couldn't ask more from a PSU and cooler master is #1 in my personal opinion.

Cons: None, there was nothing disappointing about this purchase.

Overall Review: Over my many years of tech knowledge and skill development I have grown very fond of cooler master. Steady and stable power are so important with high-end systems. Cooler mast

OCZ Solid 2 Series 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSD2-2SLD60G
OCZ Solid 2 Series 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSD2-2SLD60G

Pros: Fast. If you're thinking about moving away from HDD to run your OS & programs but don't want to spend too much on technology that will suddenly 1/2 in price, then this SSD is for you. OCZ has shown excellent quality and are well respected in the industry. I have this drive dual booting in an old mac book, and even though it's only running with sata 1.5gbs, it feels faster in many ways than my quad core 3.79ghz desktop running a standard HDD. This drive has no problem running Snow Leopard or Windows 7 and hasn't shown any sign of slow-down thanks to TRIM support.

Cons: Now that I know how great SSD technology is, I need to buy one for my desktop too.

Overall Review: SSDs were like the missing link of computing, CPUs, GPUs and Memory are all really fast, but HDD is sloww. Goodbye bottle neck, hello SSD.
