Microsoft's current best os
Pros: Does exactly what it should, and what you tell it to do. Plus, it's not Windows 8!
Cons: None for me; I'm sure MS haters can find plenty to pick apart, though.
Overall Review: I gave Windows 8 a thorough try on another pc in our house (several months) and couldn't find much to recommend it other than boot speed. Maybe if I had a touch screen I'd think differently, but I do a lot of photo and video editing and the last thing I want to do is have fingerprints and swipe marks all over my monitor. I'll wait and see what 9 (or whatever they choose to call it) offers; till then I'm more than happy with Windows 7.
Makes for an easy first time build
Pros: Well made, great looking, and with a lot of great features for the price. I like the "ok" lights on the board; even though none came on, it was reassuring to have them there during my first build. It may be a little thing, but I love that q-connector Asus provides. Lastly, I have to say that the UEFI bios is fantastic; sure beats the older style I'm used to messing with.
Cons: While it may have been the Gskill ram I used in my build, the board reported it at 1333 instead of 1866 and with incorrect timings. Easy to correct in the bios, however. And the I/O shield is, let us say, a step above junk.
Overall Review: This board and it's features made the build really smooth with the exception of the I/) shield. The bios is a dream to work with for just the basics as well as stuff like overclocking. I'm sure more expensive boards have things to offer for more extreme builds, but there's absolutely nothing lacking for myself.
Exactly as expected
Pros: Quality build, runs cool, quiet and fast. The only time I ever hear it is when I first boot up the pc.
Cons: None so far.
Overall Review: Years ago, my first computer had a series of WD drives that all crapped out rather spectacularly. But after a lot of research, it seems they've really turned that around and are now the go-to brand for most people. Still, I'll be amazed if it lasts the 6 years and counting of the Samsung hdd in my last comp.
Runs fast and very cool
Pros: Seems very, very fast for the money. And I've never had a card that ran this cool out of the box. And it does so while being pretty quiet about it. Ran stable and cool all the while under Unigine Heaven benchmarking with some nice numbers to show for it.
Cons: Some may not like the looks. I think it looks great, and the design sure can't be argued with from a cooling perspective.
Overall Review: I didn't put this under cons as it has nothing to do with the card itself, but could the process of redeeming that coupon for AC4 be any more ridiculous?! Thankfully the game itself is really fun, and runs at the highest settings while being smooth and looking awesome with this card.
Fine so far
Pros: Fast and looks great with my other components.
Cons: Took an egg off for the fact that when I first booted up the new build it was showing the ram at 1333 and incorrect timings. However, this may have been an issue with the Asus mobo I'm using. It was easy enough to change what was needed in the bios to get the ram where it's supposed to be. Been fast and stable since.
Keeps things cool & quiet.
Pros: Looks great and very well constructed. Keeps my overclocked AMD 8320 nice and cool while being very quiet. Easy to install once you figure out the directions. Ease of installation was a biggie for me as a first time builder (I've read a lot of horror stories about aftermarket cooler installing).
Cons: One of the illustrations - at least on my copy - was incorrect for AMD mounting. Would have been easy to really screw things up had I tried it that way. But once I figured out it was wrong installation was a snap.
Overall Review: It seems I may have gotten one of the last blue models from Newegg. It looks so nice with my Asus board and Gskill ram. But if you like or don't mind the still available colors I'd highly recommend this cooler for the build quality, cooling, and very easy installation.
