Good for the price

Zmodo CM-I12316GY 640 x 480 MAX Resolution RJ45 Night Vision Wireless IP Network Weatherproof Camera
Zmodo CM-I12316GY 640 x 480 MAX Resolution RJ45 Night Vision Wireless IP Network Weatherproof Camera

Pros: This camera has a good range in both day and night modes. Wireless range has not been a problem (currently set up about 75' from router). The outdoor capability was a major advantage. Price is excellent for this camera.

Cons: Color is not very good - fairly washed out. Instruction manual is awful, however the manual included on the disk is not terrible.

Overall Review: Note that the rating has been influenced by the price. At $200, I would probably rate it at a 4 egg and at $300, probably at a 2 to 3 egg. This is not the best camera out there, but for the price it will be hard to beat.

Eagle ET-AR101BP-BK Black Portable Bluetooth Speaker with built-in noise cancelling Microphone
Eagle ET-AR101BP-BK Black Portable Bluetooth Speaker with built-in noise cancelling Microphone

Pros: Sound quality from a very small speaker is good. Inexpensive. Gave me some things to think about for my next bluetooth speaker purchase.

Cons: Stopped working after just over 30 days due to charing issue. Apparently it is not meant to be plugged in continuously, so the issue with the battery is probably my fault. Automatically turns off when not in use, which may be a positive for some, but not for my application. When turing on the unit a voice shouts out "POWER ON" and loudly bleeps when paired. There is no documented way to silence the voice or beep. In an office, the shouted status of the speaker is not really necessary, since I was the one to turn it on.

Good for movies

Seidio DILEX (with kickstand) Black Case For iPhone 5 / 5S CSK3IPH5K-BK
Seidio DILEX (with kickstand) Black Case For iPhone 5 / 5S CSK3IPH5K-BK

Pros: Kickstand holds phone up at a good viewing angle. All buttons work without a problem. Phone is encased with a flexible liner, which is encloosed with a hard cover. Seems to be well designed for shocks. Phone has not broken. Rubber keeps phone from sliding around when driving.

Cons: Phone does not sit flat because of the kickstand, which requires removal when using a leveling app. A little bulky, but any case will be bulkier than the phone by itself.

Overall Review: Plan to keep using this phone case. I purchased it for the kickstand, which is solid. Installation was easy.

Good starter unit

Aposonic A-S0401R21 4 x BNC 960H Resolution Full D1 Multi-functional DVR, Mac OSX App fully supported
Aposonic A-S0401R21 4 x BNC 960H Resolution Full D1 Multi-functional DVR, Mac OSX App fully supported

Pros: The price of this unit is great. As is the size. Easy to set up. Add any size drive up to 2 Tb. Can alway use the drive elsewhere after you get another unit.

Cons: The iPhone app is just ok (no zoom, limited fast forward control). The DVR keeps resetting at random times (14 times in the last hour).

Overall Review: I will look for a better DVR. At least I'm only out $100. This unit does not control PTZ.

Pleasantly Surprised

LINKSYS PLSK400 Powerline AV 4-Port Network Adapter Kit Up to 200Mbps
LINKSYS PLSK400 Powerline AV 4-Port Network Adapter Kit Up to 200Mbps

Pros: Much better than the wireless bridge that I was using for the garage. Easy to set up. Multiple units can be used. Very easy to switch to another location.

Cons: The units are just wide enough that they interfere with adjacent plugs in the same box.

Overall Review: Works on a power circuit. Houses in the US are provided with 220 volt power, which is split into two 110 volt circuits at the breaker panel. If a powerline unit is on one of the circuits and another is plugged into the second, the system will not work This is not a limitation of Linksys, but rather the technology. If you are comfortable with moving circuits around on your electrical panel, you can usually change the 110 volt circuit being used by moving it up or down one level. Only do this if you know what you are doing.

Works well after some frustration

D-Link DAP-2553 Wireless Access Point Selectable Dual Band AirPremier PoE IEEE 802.3/3u/3ab, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n 2.4/5GHz up to 300Mbps/ Multiple SSID, 802.1Q VLAN
D-Link DAP-2553 Wireless Access Point Selectable Dual Band AirPremier PoE IEEE 802.3/3u/3ab, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n 2.4/5GHz up to 300Mbps/ Multiple SSID, 802.1Q VLAN

Pros: The 2.4 MHz connection in bridge mode is solid and has good range.

Cons: Set up is non intuative if you are using a non D-Link router (see other thoughts). Software would not work with Windows 7 64 without loading a lot of other software (gave up on using the included software). The range of the 5 MHz connection is weaker than the DAP-1525, which I used in bridge mode at the same location. Couldn't change from 5 MHz to 2.4 MHz in bridge mode, but had to set the unit to AP, switch frequency, save, click save in the configuration, wait for reboot, switch back to bridge mode, save, configuration save, reboot - simple.

Overall Review: Using a Linksys E4200 as the router, which uses 192.168.1.1 as an IP address, while D-Link uses 192.168.0.50. Was only able to open the AP after I changed one of my computer IP4 addresses to 192.168.0.xx and connect it directly to the computer. After that, I could reset the DAP-2553 AP to 192.168.1.xx and open it with my main computer.
