Great Controller

LSI MegaRAID SATA / SAS 9260-8i 6Gb/s PCI-Express 2.0 w/ 512MB Onboard Memory RAID Controller Card, Kit--Avago Technologies
LSI MegaRAID SATA / SAS 9260-8i 6Gb/s PCI-Express 2.0 w/ 512MB Onboard Memory RAID Controller Card, Kit--Avago Technologies

Pros: Absolutley blazing performance for Raid SSD's. Small footprint and runs cool. Kit comes with all the cables etc. Yes my set-up is about a $1500 investment, but if you need the performance, it is reasonable.

Cons: Does not include the BBU, but for the price versus performance, you can't really complain. Get the BBU here, it is worth it.

Overall Review: Some motherboards will not allow access to the bios at boot, but it is a limitation of the board, not the controller. I just installed my OS on a single hard disk to the board's controller, set up my array in the LSI software in windows, then switched to boot off the controller in the bios when I installed the OS. A pain, but the gain is well worth it. My system for ref: Intel 975 EE Asus P6T WS Professional 12GB Corsair Dominator 4X OCZ Vertex 2 in 128K RAID 0

Not worth saving a few bucks...

ASRock X58 Supercomputer LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASRock X58 Supercomputer LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Slot spacing and price.

Cons: Poor positioning of fan, audio, 8-Pin headers. Very limited info in manual as far as the bios settings. Easy overclocking feature struggles with more exotic equipment. The board has heavy issues with voltage drops, and you need to compensate accordingly, but it is still unpredicatable. Even the easy overclocking feature can't keep up with the voltage drooping, which makes it fail. Very difficult to find support for this board. My board seems to have some issues with dropping SATA connections which gave me a bunch of headaches with array corruption - probably bad solder joints as reseating and a little wiggle seem to wake them back up - but they still randomly died.

Overall Review: I thought I would give this board a try, after reading a couple reviews. Well, when looking for support tips, I found a lot of other folks having issues with this board (I should have read more). I have tried EVGA, Asus and now Asrock as far as X58's go, and Asrock has missed the boat on this board. Evga and Asus both achieved much higher OC's the the Asrock Supercomputer, with no voltage issues. The main problem with the Asrock "easy overclocking" is that you have no idea what setting it has altered and what effect occurs when you alter other setting along with feature. The bios is really a mess unless you are not overclocking, and really this is what most buyers of a $300 mobo are going to do. You really need to be a somewhat advanced OC'er to make this board work and hit the same high clocks that are easy with other manufacturers boards.

A great card for $50 !

HIS Radeon HD 5450 (Cedar) 512MB DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 Low Profile Ready Video Card H545H512
HIS Radeon HD 5450 (Cedar) 512MB DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 Low Profile Ready Video Card H545H512

Pros: Very low power consumption. No fan noise. Decent gaming performance if you are using a 20 inch or smaller display - because you are not running heavy resolutions. An excellent value for the money.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I have read several web reviews on this card that really bash it for gaming Performance. However, those reviews are running benchmarks at high resolutions. If you are using a smaller display, this card does very well at maintaining playable frame rates even on the latest games. So, if you are a once a week Sunday afternoon gamer on a budget, give this card a try.

Always the best...

Pros: Liteon always works, and works well. I have possibly gone through 100 of these drives in builds in the last year, and not one failed or DOA. Thousands over the years.

Cons: N/A

Overall Review: To the guy that seems to have gone through 2 units before getting one that worked - Don't think that since most computer DVD drives you have purchased have a history of DOA's, that possibly, the problem is you ?

HEC 6C28BB8S Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
HEC 6C28BB8S Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Roomy, great looking and well constructed. For $35, I don't thing you are going to find a better constructed case.

Cons: None.

Very Impressive for the money !

hec HP585DB 585 W ATX12V Power Supply - Power Cord Included
hec HP585DB 585 W ATX12V Power Supply - Power Cord Included

Pros: Very good quality for mid-range builds. SATA connectors on both leads, so an adapter isn't required (some cheap units claim 2 SATA connectors and put them both on one lead, and we all know the hard drive will be at the bottom of the case and the optical drive at the top). Decent guage wiring. Not very noisy. I have used about 25 to 30 of these units in the past 6 months and have not had one fail or show up DOA. Power cord and mounitng screws are included. Looks like a 1 year warranty through NewEgg,.

Cons: None.
