Kind of glitchy

UtechSmart Venus RGB Gaming Mouse, Wired 16400 DPI High Precision Laser Programmable MMO Computer Gaming Mice
UtechSmart Venus RGB Gaming Mouse, Wired 16400 DPI High Precision Laser Programmable MMO Computer Gaming Mice

Pros: Cheap, good quality, beefy gaming mouse. It fits in my hand really nicely, which is unusual because I have fairly big hands. It's got a good weight to it (comes with removable weights and nice container but I just leave all of them in all the time) and it even comes with replacement slider pads!

Cons: Unfortunately the light on the scroll wheel does not change to match the rest of the mouse; it's always yellow. The mouse also has a tendency to lock the pointer to the side of the screen. I've found this happens if it is being moved when it first receives power. To fix it, it just needs to be unplugged and plugged back in, but it's annoying nonetheless.

Overall Review: If you leave the mouse till startup is over, it'll be just fine.

If You're Looking For A Laptop That Is Properly Supported, Avoid Acer at All Costs

Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition - 15.6" IPS - Intel Core i7-6700HQ - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M - 8 GB DDR4 - 1TB HDD - Windows 10 Home 64-Bit - Gaming Laptop (VN7-592G-71ZL )
Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition - 15.6" IPS - Intel Core i7-6700HQ - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M - 8 GB DDR4 - 1TB HDD - Windows 10 Home 64-Bit - Gaming Laptop (VN7-592G-71ZL )

Pros: -Excellent specs for the price. -Top-notch port availability with USB 3.0 all around and even one USB 3.1 type C connector -M-keyed M.2 PCIe x4 port for wicked-fast SSD action (I added a Samsung 950 pro)

Cons: TL;DR: Unreliable piece of garbage -Mediocre construction Whoever thought it would be a good idea to make a BLACK laptop by painting WHITE plastic should be fired. Every single scratch shows right through and even when new there is some white plastic showing through in places. Internally, the laptop is held together with flimsy plastic clips so don't plan on taking it apart more than once. I was very careful when installing an SSD and still managed to break off multiple clips. It still fits together OK but the gap around the edges is kind of wonky now. I got off to a rocky start when I tried to reset windows 8.1 to remove the installed bloatware. The installation crashed at just the right point that it wouldn't finish installing and couldn't be rolled back. Luckily the product key is embedded in the hardware so it worked fine the second time, but I was still left without a laptop for almost a week. Upon installing the SSD, I discovered that the BIOS does not properly support NVMe. (More on this below) Thankfully there is a workaround that simply requires removing all bootable media before installing windows. However, this would ALL be forgivable if it weren't for the fact that this is the LEAST reliable laptop I have EVER owned. When resuming from sleep, there's about an 80% chance that windows will freeze and eventually blue screen. Plus, when booting up, there's about a 25% chance that the SSD won't be found at all. The blue screens are always being storage-related and never show up in event viewer so I suspected a loose SSD connection. I tried re-seating the SSD (breaking a few more clips in the process) with no luck.

Overall Review: Update 9/2018: The crashing issue gradually stopped despite no action on my part and now this laptop is very reliable in terms of not crashing randomly. Unfortunately that was replaced with a new issue where I am completely unable to update Windows 10. Every time the computer is restarted after updates I receive a blue screen on boot and the updates have to be rolled back after a hard reboot. Turns out this is due to Acer not properly supporting booting from NVMe drives as mentioned earlier. The UEFI BIOS does not detect NVMe SSDs on startup and the legacy BIOS, while it does detect NVMe SSDs, cannot boot from them. There is a workaround to get windows installed, but the computer will fail to boot whenever windows is updated. Acer is very much aware of this issue and has responded by deleting nearly every thread mentioning it. This isn't even the first time Acer has treated their customers with such contempt; when this computer was first launched the M.2 socket was limited to 2x speed despite being wired for 4x. People inevitably noticed that they were only getting half of the advertised performance out of their SSDs and started to complain. Acer responded by deleting the offending posts. Thankfully a fix was eventually released, but only after the laptop was temporarily pulled from another large online retailer. Unfortunately, as of 9/4/2018 there is no fix for the NVMe booting issues and given the age of this model I doubt there ever will be. I will never buy another Acer product and will encourage everyone I know to do the same.

SanDisk 128GB Ultra Fit CZ43 USB 3.0 Flash Drive, Up to150MB/s (SDCZ43-128G-G46) [Old Version]
SanDisk 128GB Ultra Fit CZ43 USB 3.0 Flash Drive, Up to150MB/s (SDCZ43-128G-G46) [Old Version]

Pros: Small, good value, fast while it lasted.

Cons: Cooked itself after less than 3 years of VERY light use.

Overall Review: Gets hot enough during use that the metal part will burn you if you touch it. I can count the number of times I've filled this drive on one hand and it's already failing. It won't take more than 4 GB of files before it overheats and disconnects.

Excellent Little Fan

Noctua NF-R8 redux-1200, Ultra Quiet Silent Fan, 3-Pin, 1200 RPM (80mm, Grey)

Pros: Silent, well built, moves plenty of air

Cons: None!

Overall Review: Cable sleeving is annoyingly stiff and makes the cable bulkier than it needs to be. Luckily it can be removed but I would still like to see a more flexible option in the future. Or just ditch it altogether for bare black (or gray) wires.

Absolute Garbage.

3PCS Geekbes S08 Smart Socket 2.4G WiFi Mini Plug APP Remote Control Voice control Timing Works with Alexa/Google Home US Plug -White
3PCS Geekbes S08 Smart Socket 2.4G WiFi Mini Plug APP Remote Control Voice control Timing Works with Alexa/Google Home US Plug -White

Pros: -Literally nothing. I messed with these for over an hour and couldn't get it to work.

Cons: -The app is so badly broken that it actually causes my phone to refuse to connect to my wifi until I reboot the router -Neither the app nor the included instructions are consistent with the actual product or even with each other. It's like they hired three different companies that all spoke different languages (none of them being English) to make the app, the instructions, and the product.

Overall Review: I have a Galaxy S8+ so perhaps this issue is just unique to my phone but that doesn't change the fact that setup is basically guesswork since the information in the instructions, the layout of the app, and the behavior of the product don't match up.

Beware the Fan Voltages!

ICY DOCK MB326SP-B | 6 Bay 2.5” SATA HDD / SSD Hot Swap Backplane Cage Enclosure for External 5.25” Bay | ExpressCage Series

Pros: -Very high-density storage -Seems Robust (can't speak to the long-term reliability yet)

Cons: -Paint scratches off fairly easily, be prepared to touch it up even if you're careful installing it. -Fan mounting is very cheap, just threaded into plastic. Installing larger fans requires modification of the non-standard screws which must be done carefully. If the screws aren't cut short enough they will dig into the PCB

Overall Review: If you're planning to replace the fans with something quieter like a Nocuta NF-A4x20, be aware that, in addition to the nonstandard mounting screws, the fans run on 12V. Luckily for people like me who didn't check beforehand, the 'Low' fan setting is almost exactly 5V (measured across a capacitor)

Avoid at all costs

Seller barely speaks English and does not understand how the return process works. Took me over a month to return their garbage product and ended up having to go through Newegg directly (who was very good).
