Great thumbdrive!

Newegg 8GB Flash Drive (USB2.0 Portable) L8GB-RBST
Newegg 8GB Flash Drive (USB2.0 Portable) L8GB-RBST

Pros: Small, thin, fast, bright light. The fact that it is thin allows it to fit right next to another USB connector (many thumbdrives are fat and will not fit into recessed USB ports). Also, the very bright activity light is on the END of the drive making it easy to view.

Cons: Cap could get lost. Looks like a stick of gum- I might mistakenly eat it. One big complaint- the Win98SE driver and 'password protection tool' is not included and cannot be downloaded anywhere on NewEgg (I'm sure this was an oversight and I hope it is corrected).

Overall Review: Don't believe the guy who says this thumbdrive is slow; I have my own IT business and have used many such drives. I clocked this one at 9 MB/s which is 3X faster than my 4G JetFlash. Also, it WILL store large files right out of the box. I copied a 2GB file with no problem in 220 seconds.

Most Critical Review

1 dead out of 4

SAMSUNG 19" SXGA LCD Monitor W/Height and Pivot adjustment 5 ms D-Sub, DVI 943BT-A
SAMSUNG 19" SXGA LCD Monitor W/Height and Pivot adjustment 5 ms D-Sub, DVI 943BT-A

Pros: Cheap, adjustable

Cons: We bought 4 units for a customer. By the time we unboxed them we found that one had a bad backlight. Of course, NewEgg will not let us return it .

Overall Review: The lesson: always thoroughly test refurbished products ASAP. Of course you would expect that NewEgg would do this (isn't that what 'refurbished' means?)

Great for the first couple of months

Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000 for Business
Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000 for Business

Pros: Great sensativity, feels good in your hand, light, works as well as a wired mouse

Cons: This mouse has a design problem: it began double-clicking about six months after the purchase.

Overall Review: I didn't buy this from NewEgg but I thought I'd comment anyway.

Only lasted three months!

Kingston 64GB DataTraveler SE9 G2 USB 3.0 Flash Drive, Speed Up to 100MB/s (DTSE9G2/64GB)
Kingston 64GB DataTraveler SE9 G2 USB 3.0 Flash Drive, Speed Up to 100MB/s (DTSE9G2/64GB)

Pros: Sleek design, good data rates

Cons: Failed after only three months: Windows stopped recognizing it; could be heat related.

Overall Review: I have a small IT business and have used countless flash drives and SD cards over the years and this is the very first one that has failed. I bought it for it's sleek metal case and, of course, it's relatively high capacity. It was never abused or used in a harsh environment. I'm sure that Kingston will replace it but it will be interesting to see if the new one lasts longer. I expect at least five years from a flash drive.

Easy installation, LONG range!

UBIQUITI - NETWORKS PBE-M5-400-US 5PK 5GHZ POWERBEAM AIRMAX 400MM
UBIQUITI - NETWORKS PBE-M5-400-US 5PK 5GHZ POWERBEAM AIRMAX 400MM

Pros: Super long range: I tested a pair of these boxes at 1000 ft (line of site through two rows of trees) and they worked great. They also worked from inside two buildings at 500 ft. The bar graph LEDs are a plus since they indicate a connected bridge. They are weatherproof and easy to mount. They are cheap and the setup page is easy to navigate.

Cons: They should come with an adjustable wall mounting bracket since few people will actually mount them to a pole. I had to use a flagpole holder and a short piece of 1" PVC pipe.

Overall Review: I have a small IT business and these units fill a niche that I have been trying to fill for a few years.

Not ready for Prime Time

Crucial M500 CT480M500SSD1 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) 2.5" 480GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Crucial M500 CT480M500SSD1 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) 2.5" 480GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: Fast and small, system performance is noticeably higher than a mechanical drive.

Cons: I used TrueImage to copy the hard drive on my personal desktop to this drive. I've done this hundreds of times (I have my own IT business). My computer (Windows 7 x64, 16GB RAM) is very solid; it almost never crashes. The SSD drive was noticeably faster than my mechanical drive. But within a few hours I experienced weird behavior: within three days my computer blue-screened twice. Explorer began crashing regularly. One of my VMWare machines crashed. The last straw was today when I woke up to a black screen; had to power cycle the computer to get it running. The only difference was this drive. Keep in mind that I have done the same thing with mechanical drives on the same machine without these problems.

Overall Review: I'm very disappointed; I had hoped that I could get higher system performance and better reliability for me and my customers by switching to an SSD. But this experience has shown that this particular SSD is not ready for prime time. An SSD should behave exactly the same as a mechanical drive. I'm happy with NewEgg for allowing me to return the drive for store credit.
